This whole scandal is just ridiculous. Why Blagojevich thought that he could get a way with anything. Just from the looks of him he looks like a schemer. I don't think he fully understands the ramifications that this has had on the state of Illinois, Barack Obama, and Blagojevich's own family. I would be utterly embarrassed. I feel so sorrry that his wife and children have to deal with this. This just shows you that politicians are full of corruption. I'm just gald that Barack Obama and none of his team had anything to do with this creep. If the government could impeach President Clinton just because he had sex with a woman, most definantley they can impeach this man for scheming the system as best he could with the peoples money. i'm telling you and it's a true fact, everything that is done in the dark will come to light.

I fhind it interesting that Fineman didn't bother to mention that Blagojavich launched into an obscene rant about how Obama only offered to give him "appreciation" for appointing one of Obama's preferred choices for his Senate seat. Despite this resounding proof that Obama conducts himself in an ethical manner, Fineman wants to pretend that rather than simply acting in accordance with his own ethical principles, Obama was merely being clever in avoiding an entanglement with Blagojavich.

Fineman apparenlty want to "keep hope alive" that the corporate media can still somehow tie Obama to this juicy scandal even though Patrick Fitzgerald'd wiretap evidence of Obama's strong ethics must have profoundly disappointed him.

As for Jesse Jackson Jr., whom Fineman refers to demeaningly as "Junior" -- Blagojavich's comments are potentially damaging (and not just more of the phony scandal-mongering they try to smear Obama with). However, the media is glossing over the fact that Blago said only that Jackson's alleged emissary said only that Jackson would work to raise campaign funds for Blago, NOT pay him money in exchange for a Senate appointment. That sounds like merely politics rather than a crime.

More and more its looking like what he wants is a vacant Senate seat.The ACORN doesn't fall far from the tree.Do pardon the pun.

If GWB in the next couple of weeks solved world hunger, cured AIDS, created a vehicle that gets 200 miles to a gallon and runs on water, and rid this world of hunger, he would still owe Santa 33000 gifts. And the church 16000 hail mary's, ooppps he is not a catholic, I mean ne would need 15000 backwords dunks in teh pool wearing a 3 piece suit.

Basically, things are only going to look worse as more in uncovered. Good luck with the legacy thing. Maybe you should show his baby pictures or something.

Please note, five weeks after the 11/4 general election victory, the Dem. party has lost three election races in the south, one of which involves an indicted Dem. Congressman william jefferson , plus the arrest of a Dem.. governor of their key state: Illinois, the land of Lincoln or land of Capone ?

That "press conference" Jackson gave was probably the most bloviated, arrogant, self-righteous, strident, irritating, uncharismatic public speaking I've ever seen.

The guy comes across as massively full of himself. And his story that someone offered the governor money for Jesse Jr. without Jr.'s knowledge is completely laughable.

I hope Illinois voters or legislators or whoever picks the new Senator can see that Jackson would carry with him the taint of this mess in a really arrogant package if he were Senator. Look elsewhere for your new Senator, Illinois!

It's not racial to most...It's Illinois politics! Those of you who cry the racial foul at the first question of impropriety, why is it not racial when Bush is questioned, or LBJ, or Nixon? They are of a particular race, too! I can tell, just from your comments, what your feelings are. Cry the racial foul, then you won't have to try and defend their actual accomplishments, or lack thereof. What has Jr. done to deserve the seat? Do you know? Do you even care?
I remember what kind of man his daddy was in the 60's and 70's and still is, but I don't think that has anything to do with race. I just think he is scum!!!!

I do not understand why the press have to drag President-elect obama into this mess. This is the doing of a crooked politician. Even Mr. Obama knows this, that is why he did not invited Gov. Blagojevich during the election eve celebration in Grant Park nor did he appointed him to any cabinet post. Mr. Obama already distance hinself from this crook before Gov. Blagojevich was indicted.

It is clear, from reading about the governor of Illinois and his wife, they are corrupt and have no business in government. Give this kind of people a bit of power and they use it for the good of THEMSELVES rather than the people's. Greedy and selfish, foul-mouthed, and corrupt to the core. That so-called governor MUST do the right thing for the State of Illinois and its resident: he MUST resign immediately. Neither this guy or his wife deserve to reside in the governor's mansion at the expense of the taxpayers. As for Jessie Jackson Jr., I don't know about him; why would he have the need for a lawyer? I mean, he wasted NO time at all in obtaining his attorney. If this article is correct, it appears Jessie Jr. expects to be selected for the senate seat because he is Jessie Jackson and has WANTED this seat all along. Would he want this seat to the exten of "at any cost"? I just don't know.

I should say Obama worked with Blago's campaign in 2002.

If Jesse Jr. isn't complicit, I'm glad. If he is, he'd better hope no recordings were made. Jesse Jr. may be alright but his press conference with no questions from the floor left me wondering.

interesting Blagojevich comes out after the election, Stevens before. Both are crooks... but in different parties.

I will say it again. We need viable third and fourth parties like they have in grown up countries like Canada and Germany, etc.

We need Competition. with the press in this country as the mouth piece for the Democratic party.. we will soon be like the USSR and currently Russia. Reading Newsweak and Tyme is like reading Pravda.
