So that???s who Obama has appointed so far. With the exception of the last two, Holder and Jones, we have a cabinet just as dishonest as any that has preceded it. This is not the change voters wanted. We have warmongers in Gates and Albright, a financial saboteur in Summers, a power hungry Treasury Secretary, public deception with Napolitano and Richardson, and Clinton will say anything to appease the person with whom she???s talking. If this isn???t more of the same, then I don???t know what is.

Well if you voted for him, the joke is on you....
      I didn't and I think it's hilarious.

When candidate # 1 and Candidate # 3 are named we will have the Chicago gang revealed.

    Rahn Emanuel # 1 or # 3 ?

Barack Obama internal investigation or well planned cover up attempt ?

    I vote for coverup.

How does your vote on this compare with your vote in the election?

      • Posted By: Zombiehero @ 12/13/2008 4:52:25 PM

He voted for Obama....that's the beauty of it...mainly out of disgust for anything Clinton or Bush.

There was a whole lot of digust in my vote too, but fortunately I also thought I was voting for the best possible candidate too.

SpectreWriter and DISCERNMENT: Thanks, I couldn't agree with you more. One thing is definite, Obama is NOT GUILTY of any corruption of any description at this point in time regardless of what the RPugs want to shout or think. He has done nothing wrong in this matter and we don't know at this point if the Complaint is talking about Rahm as Advisor B or whom he is referring to. Until Obama releases a statement about his staff and what role each, if any at the top, had with Blago, this is a mute point. Furthermore, whomever Blago was speaking with, one thing we know for sure is that he was told his appointment would be APPRECIATED, and he cursed stating appreciation was not what he wanted. But that makes no difference to the RPugs. They don't need a reason to say Obama is corrupt; they just say it as though it's fact and hope it spreads enough to be considered 'fact'. It's not going to work this time because too many of us voted for Obama and I don't think we could all be wrong!

But I will say, you R's can go on all youi want about Wright, but if you only listened to the MSM play the sound bytes 24/7 rather than listen to his entire sermons, you don't know what you are talking about. Wright is super intelligent, a decorated Marine, and has done more for his community than any of you for yours. I would have stayed at Wright's church [and I'm an old white woman] despite knowing that he said some inflammatory things because I found him quite provacative which cauases one to use their brain to think about things from a variety of perspectives. As far as Ayers is concerned, I saw him interviewed with Chris Matthews on Hardball and even Matthews found him a changed man from the 70's radical he was - and by the way, did not 'pal around with Obama at all'. Don't try to tell me I'm stupid or naive because I'm not - I've lived too long not to know when people aren't who they project themnselves or pretend to be. Obama is a good man and has done nothing wrong, so you RPugs are spinning lies but they just won't work!.

I agree about Rahmbo???.. so far no smelly fish there. What got my attention is that Rezco's name popped up-again! I'm sure the Obamanista's would like us to believe this is yet another meaningless coincidence and are counting on the mesmerized masses who voted for this hustler to once again ignore both his past associations and the corrupt political machine from which he and his Chicago charlatans come from. It's entirely in character for Newsweak to whitewash Obama even considering how little we know so far about this sordid affair. But hey, if they had used half the resources investigating Obama's past as they did smearing Palin maybe we would have known more about him when it really mattered-before the election!

We'll probably never know if Obama or his top aides' hands are dirty on this one and it's probably best we don't. Can you imagine what will happen to the economy and the stock market if it comes out that they were even remotely aware or involved? By comparison, the 900-point "vote of confidence" plunge the market gave Obama in the first two days after the election will look like a minor bump in the road.

Ditto - Now Obama is violating the ethical principle of candor - telling us what he knows we are are really asking: Did he have direct or indirect contact with Blago's office regarding the senate seat. His refutations already sound guilty. Ask any mother or teacher how guilty Obama sounds.

Soon a greand jury will be looking into the Rezko/Obama land deal and that will probably carry over into Rezko's slumlord holdings. Obama also said he saw nothing wrong with Rev. Wright for 20 years, nor his partner Bill Ayers, an unrepentent terrorist. These repeated lapses in judgement tell me that Obama has a very broken, very crooked moral compass.

Now that you have judged him guilty, maybe we should string him up now. Your case might not look as good later.

  • Posted By: SpectreWriter @ 12/13/2008 4:41:12 PM

Being neither Dem or Rep, I don't mind objectively noting that the GOP has always been poor losers. What's worse, they've always been willing to do anything to win- before AND after. Even when Clinton won his second term, the next day after the election, there were bumper stickers on cars demanding the impeachment of the man that the nation had just re-elected President. So expect that this is the least of the tactics they will use in their attempt to put themselves back in the position to control others

Thank you, Newsweek, for being a voice of reason amidst the cacaophony of truly despicable hounds already barking at the heels of a good man who will finally give us a great President within my lifetime.

Politicians in south side Chicago are nothing than "cons" including Obama. If you recalled, Obama was claiming long ago that his Senate seat should be given to an African American..Therefore, his right hand R. Emmanual was sent to do the job and negotiate with Blagojevich. Obama is so smart that he does cover his bases everytime and always send a surrogate to do his dirty jobs leaving his hands clean. He got to where he is so fast because he is a smart con artist who knew how to use his connection to the Chicago political corruption, no questions about it. Even his running mate knew it when he said that "something big is going to happen, there are going to test this man" (speaking of Obama). Look at his connection to Ayer (offering party for him), Rezko (whose wife bought land next to his, than sell it to him under the table (Chicago-style), his wife (getting a 200% raise once he became senator, for contracts and favors in return), his buying of Hillary and Bill campaign time (for favor like job offers and paying their bills), his paying of ACORN parent company of over $800,000, in return of millions of fraudulent votes (from Donald Duck, to Jimmie Boys, to dead people, criminals and crack house brain-freezed imbeciles), to his campaign fundraising fraud (thousands of contributions by Mr. Good Will, to prepaid-cards and credit card contributions from overseas). Are these actions different than what Blagojevick has done. Ethically, both man are corrupted. This is the change that Washington DC must become familiar with, THIS IS A TRUE CHANGE, THE REAL DEAL, "CHANGE, CHICAGO-STYLE".

Obama lied repeatedly during his campaign when he said that he never said he's meet unconditionally with Iran. His campaign contribution system deliberately disabled the feature that requires a credit card number match it's corresponding address so as to increase the amount of donations regardless of their legitimacy.

Now Obama is violating the ethical principle of candor - telling us what he knows we are are really asking: Did he have direct or indirect contact with Blago's office regarding the senate seat. His refutations already sound guilty. Ask any mother or teacher how guilty Obama sounds.

BARACK OBAMA has made many mistakes in his adninistration choices.

Rahm Emanuel ( Hillary Clinton Spy ) is just another Ex-Clinton Adminitration bad guy.

Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich , Barack Obama and some of the Chicago Gang all trying to get government positions.

Please name a politician that the press has not gone after. They have the most valuable something to sell when there are scandal and controversy. Do you think that self interest would be renounced for a mixed race president?

40YearR: You ask "name a politician that the press has not gone after" The answer is Obama the press is too busy worshiping him to go after him for any reason !!! We found that out in the primary's all they did was make excusing for Obama and all his shady friends!!!

          • Posted By: 40YearR @ 12/13/2008 1:45:42 AM

Ok. Obama is the first politician in history that the press has not gone after. What were the odds?

            Please devine "we".

      We, the people, elected Obama.

HAVE THE REPUBLICANS GONE "BLEEPING" CRAZY?

So President-Elect Obama's Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel gave Gov. Rod Blagojevich a list of names that Obama would like to see in his Senate seat. Big "bleeping" deal! So Rahm enlightens Rod as to who Obama would like to fill his Senate seat. Can some one tell me what the "bleep" is the problem with that? Why are FAUX News and "bleeping" Republicans making a big "bleeping" deal about Obama's team expressing interest in who Obama would like to backfill his Senate seat?

You Republicans do know and understand there is a very big "bleeping" difference between "deal-making with a corrupt Governor" like Blagojevich, and forwarding list of names you would like to backfill your Senate seat. You do know that forwarding a list of names to backfill your open seat is perfectly legal, efficient, wise, and prudent.

With this knowledge, can anyone explain why the Republicans and FAUX News is making a big "bleeping" stink about this?

It's entirely unclear at this point what exactlly occured between the Obama administration and Blago but, what IS important to remember is that Fitzgerald said there is no connection or wrong doing that occured. Now it's just a matter of image. As there is no recording of each and every communication between the Admin and Blago to offer as proof, I suspect that people who believe Obama is corrupt will continue to hold that position no matter what is revealed but, I also believe that the majority will analyze the info provided by Obama and judge it accordingly. As we are all human even our President's, let's try to hold our expectations up to the same standard that we have for ourselves.

It's heartwarming to see the McCainiacs and racists are still pulling on their leashes and drooling over the prospect of sliming Obama before he even gets inaugurated. Why don't you supporters of a losing party grow up and give this man a chance to show what he's made of? Listen, just about anyone would be preferable to the religious crank who's finally leaving office, and the change I seek is a turn away from the policies of a delusional president who has brought this country low, leaves Obama with 2 wars to deal with, a ruptured economy, record trade and budget deficits and disgrace on the world stage. I'm no fanatic for Obama, but I voted for him, and I hope to see something better from him than the idiot you people probably voted for twice.

stop calling everone who doesnt agree with your stupid choice in a president a racist its offensive.we have had political veiws way before your obama was even born. we didnt vote because of ones skin color which is a sad sad reason to cast a vote.what was your reason for voting?. what were obama's attributes in senate that had you support him his 2 yes votes to the war or his 2 yes votes to extend the war or was it his support of hope for homes which collapsed the economy. please tell me.

You display stupid so well I don't have to call your choice anything. Anyone who asserts that others voted for Obama due to his color is just revealing his own racial bias.

I crossed party lines for the first time in 40 years to vote for Obama because he was the best candidate for president I have ever seen; his presidency of Harvard Law Review showed he excelled among many of the brightest students in the world; his books displayed the highest intellect, perception, grasp of the whole and every part within it, that he has human understanding that Bill only similated, he is more post racial than I and he had more to overcome; the need to remove from power the machine that got us into our many current problems; the hate, lies, fabrications, obfuscations, smears and innuendo perpetrated in an effor to steal that election.

Michael Hirsh's article gives us the opportunity to compare and contrast Truman, Obama, Blogojevitch. It also gives us pause to look at ourselves. Are we going to continue the prevalent self-serving pattern of WIIFM (what's in it for me) or move to the higher ground of Truman style integrity?
Anthropologist Gregory Bateson's definition of integrity is critical as we stand, yet again, at a cultural crossroads during this time of economic distress. Integrity - the ability to integrate all aspects of a situation. It means considering the impact you and I have on each other. It means taking into account the long range implications of actions. It means thinking through the patterns that connect.
We can only hope that Obama and his team are pattern aware in the manner of Truman style of integrity.
