This guy is a complete kiss ass.How in the heck do you think Obama got the seat himself. The pattern was long established before this governor got there. Obama paid for his seat as will all the others. Plain and simple. If the past election showed us anything it showed us the Obama also paid for the presidency.

I remember when Obama ran for the senate seat a few years ago. The top two Democratic contenders were two slimeballs who turned off the voting public. Obama was almost a protest vote. When time for the general election came, the incumbent Republican was embroiled in a huge scandal. Obama won both contests hands down with little money or resources, just by keeping his nose clean.

I think you give Obama too much credit & underplay the corrupting power of a state like Illinois when someone is ambitious.
It has always been my belief that Obama is "slicker than slick Willie" himself. Given his endorsement of Blagpo & his relationship w/Rezko [where was "let's slow down" then?], if I had to bet I'd say Obama was smart enough to create plausible deniability" for himself but was nonetheless in "the game" or at least he allowed those who were a part of the Chicago machine to believe that he was 'in the game" [&/or would turn a blind eye].; that's what "damned fine staff" is for.
Remember the lesson of Serpico, "if you are not at least perceived as part of the game, you can't be trusted.

I was born and raised in Chicago......hmm maybe that means I'm corrupt too.

I just love that guilt by association tune.

  • Posted By: ajaxson @ 12/11/2008 9:36:28 PM

this author is a complete kiss ass. Give me a break, Obama got the seat the same way, he bought. This has been going a long time. The presidential elections are clear evidence that Obama bought the Presidency as well. Plain and simple that is how it is done. Now this governor wanted to do the same thing but the ones who have been around long enough already knew it was a hot potato and knew the governor was under investigation so no wanted to touch him with a 10 foot pole.

    • Posted By: Yuseff @ 12/12/2008 11:38:02 AM

He bought the election? Gee, I voted for Obama and I still haven't gotten my check yet.

No, Bush and Co have done nothing wrong,,,, except encourage torture and unconstitutional behavior and committing massive screwups.

As for Palin, she created her own problems. The media response to her initially was positive until she started talking in unrehearsed environments.

But that's just us liberal losers making up all kinds of hateful stuff... and the media... and the political establishment... and etc, etc, etc.

As for Clinton, yes he did lie under oath. And he lied to the people. And here's one liberal who never voted for him.
Not that you, "go sara", will ever believe that. After all, all we slimy liberals ever do is smear honest, modest, never sanctimonious or arrogant conservatives while backing unpatriotic, criminals for candidates of our own.

ANd one thing I will say about Clinton is that he wasn't an incompetent ignoramus and I think Clinton actually read the constitution once or twice.

I know this is terrible to say but it is just my opinion. Just from hearing the guy talk and looking at him I am inclined to believe that he is truly sincere and very ethical. He is just very realistic and has much needed common sense. Look at the repsonse from Rumsfeld's PR guy today, dont have the exact quote be he blasted anyone for even making the accusations that Rumsfeld f*cked up and then went on to say how could you go after such a great American? I cant see Obama ever hiding behind the American flag like the Republicans always do. Looking at Bush and Cheney the human sense can pick up their shaddyness, Clinton has a hint of it in his voice and actions as well, but Obama looks, sounds and acts very clean - time will only tell but if he turns out to be even 1/4 as shaddy as the last group he get my vote for an oscar nomination.

The More time that passes, the more I'm convinced that I voted for the right man in President-Elect Barack Obama. He has the aura of a saint compared to politicians wherever he goes.

  • Posted By: ynotuseyourbrain @ 12/12/2008 9:53:14 AM

How does this stuff get published. You give any one a mic and they say whatever they want as if they have a clue what their talking about. I'm pretty sure the time spent preparing to run the government and find solutions to the financial crisis significantly dwarf the Blagojevich scandal. I would be upset if Obama wasted his energy dealing with the scandal over the pressing needs of the nation.

  • Posted By: ajaxson @ 12/11/2008 10:03:29 PM

This Is Our Time - If you read what I said, I said I didn't care whether he was black or white. The right person is the right person regardless of color. In fact I would be happy to have a black american as president. BHO is simply not the right guy and from what I can tell he doesn't fit the min. requirements to be president. The bigot here is simply you, I am an American, that is precisely why I said what I said. Because I don't like bho doesn't make me a bigot it is what makes me an American. You think I don't like him so I'm the bigot is a serious flaw in your logic. GOOD LUCK.

    • Posted By: ghostmasseur @ 12/12/2008 9:49:09 AM

But you made a comment about his name, and insinuated tied to foreign despots, which is banal at best and does rise to the level of bigotry.

      His name is irrelevant.

    • Posted By: 40YearR @ 12/11/2008 10:23:07 PM

Didn't see anyone call anyone a bigot here. The nonbigots just made a mistake.

      • Posted By: ajaxson @ 12/11/2008 10:31:23 PM

My response was to the following:

        This Is Our Time 'wrote':
ajaxson - Why don't you leave this country? Our USA would be a better place without bigots like you. Move on...

        • Posted By: 40YearR @ 12/11/2008 10:47:25 PM

I saw that after my post to you. Sorry on that point. My point remains.

The media is still covering for the guy. They are pathetic.

    • Posted By: sanstov952 @ 12/12/2008 12:50:47 AM

YES THEY ARE SICK AND JEALOUS WHEN THEY SHOULD BE HAPPY WE ALREADY HAD A STUPID PRESIDENT WHO GOT YOUNG PEOPLE KILLED AND LOOK AT THE MESS BUSH IS LEAVING BEHIND NOBODY ISCALLING FOR HIS HEAD BUT THEY ARE INSULTING AND LYING ON OBAMA WHAT A GROUP OF RIGHT WING NUTS AND UNEDUCATED LIKE PALIN. PLEASE SHUT UP OR LEAVE THE COUNTRY AND TAKE THE BIMBO WITH YOU .

      • Posted By: ghostmasseur @ 12/12/2008 9:37:07 AM

        sanstov,

For the record, I am a fairly strong supporter of Barack Obama, but you come off as a complete idiot (the idea of which is strengthended by your use of all caps..)

Givenyour use of the concept of "leave the courntyr , I tend to think that you are actually a ultra-far right plant who is trying to make democrats look bad. I am saying ultra-far rigth because most members fo the right are not stupid and are do not use terms like "leave the country". Only the complete nutjobs do, and they are a small but unfortuantely vocal minority.

I bring up Obama's promise to this relatives in Africa to help fix and supply the school named for him Yet he buys a $1.35 million dollar house and doesn't help the school with $10,000 for books, blackboards and a pump for clean water. Yet he and his wife's 2006 income was over 950,000. Why so much and why no help for his relatives in Africa?

  • Posted By: pjmarnj @ 12/12/2008 9:21:38 AM

I notice a lack of comment on Obama's wife position on the Chicago Hospital staff that paid her 300,000 and how she increased substantially the cost of construction of the new wing by reneging on fairly bid and accepted contracts. Isn't that exaclty what Blagojevitch did for his wife? Do you think she got the hospital job on merit and was able to void all those contracts if she wasn't Obama's wife?

Slow down, Sparky, before you blow a gasket.

    • Posted By: 40YearR @ 12/11/2008 11:08:42 PM

You're not mine by far, but it looks like you might be your own worst nightmare.

  • Posted By: John_Toradze @ 12/12/2008 8:36:51 AM

Indeed, what is remarkable about this affair is not that Blagojevich has been arrested, or that efforts are being made to question Obama's integrity that require articles such as this one to clear Obama. No, what is remarkable in all this is that not a breath of question is uttered about the Bush administration and the many republican examples of this sort of thing and worse.

  • Posted By: Pacrat @ 12/12/2008 7:35:16 AM

The buying and selling of political positions is common at all levels, but it is usually done quietly and usually without leaving fingerprints. Why news makers (formerly journalists and commentators) act shocked is ridiculous, but it just might be helpful - or drive the practice further underground. Regardless, Obama seems remarkably clean of the process no matter how lazy pundits try to link him to the process. Must mean that he is clean indeed!

Bush and his cronnies have profitied from nearly every natural and man-made disaster of the last 8 years, from the Tsunami in asia to Katrina to Iraq, follow the heafty corpoate contracts, the appointed positions, the heavily paid consulting posts. The privitization of our government agencies and the disasterous result of privitizing disasters and government. What is the difference between legal and illigal corruption?

  • Posted By: Independent Thinking @ 12/12/2008 3:29:55 AM

Alma, in the case of the Illinois governor, well he's a democrat. That's the problem. With our 2 party system we have rot on both sides. I did switch my independent back to democratic for my states primary. I felt Obama was for once, someone I wanted to vote for. I can't believe the President elect isn't gonna be pretty honest with us as he has even said as much. Considering past Presidents and their lies I feel pretty good about our choice for the first time in many years.

  • Posted By: noeldp @ 12/12/2008 2:23:35 AM

Yes, and I'd add that Public Ethics means much more than 'not being corrupt'. Good citizens and leaders who love Public Ethics put fairness, openness, due process and multilateral solutions above Personal Values when they conflict, in every case and decision of good and sustanable governance, not just in egregious csaes like refusing a bribe.
