No way is she qualified for this. We've never even heard her opinions on national issues or her plans to address major problems. Nothing but a spoiled, elite, rich kid who says, "Uncle Ted, I want that!" Just because you want it doesn't mean you've earned it.

What better person to appoint to the Senate in today's political climate than someone who is not a politician? The Congress has a lowest approval rating of any current Government Institution since the Civil War and the qualifications to serve have to be amusing given the dysfunction of that august body of men and women. She has shown that she has determination in her worthy charitable projects and her character heretofore is much more worthy of the office than some of the seated Senators - to include her Uncle - and her name and contacts in the political arena would put her initiation and the establishment of her credibility on fast forward. Freshmen Congressmen and Junior Senators struggle the first year but she would likely hit the ground running. She would make a fine Senator because she would truly be expected to rise to the occasion faster than most. For those opposed to her selection as an interim, what is the alternative? More political hacks cloned from the squabbling slackers we have now? The one common denominator in all politicians is ambition and ego. She doesn't seem to have much of that and if she accepts the appointment, is trusted by the majority of the people in NY, and can still calm the ruffled feathers in the Clinton tribe - she will have passed the first test with flying colors.

Caroline Kennedy is qualified to be a Senator based on the requirements in the US Consitution:

    1. at least 30 years old.

    2. a U.S. citizen for at least nine years at the time of election to the Senate.

    3. a resident of the state one is elected to represent in the Senate.

NSWann might even be qualified to be a Senator in the United States Congress (unless he/she doesn't meet some of the conditions previously mentioned.

Do you want Joe the Plumber (who really isn't a licensed plumber) to have the seat - and he doesn't even live in New York.
