Given that the Idol format is used in many countries around the world, each branded with their respective national names (i.e., Canadian Idol, Indonesian Idol, etc.) and using a similar format, how does the argument fly that a British export is not just quintessentially American, but quintessentially Bushian? Maybe you've got it backwards, and Bush is simply the quintessential leader of the cultural moment, of Idol-age America.

You guys are hilarious. You've (the MSM in general and Newsweek in particular) have been wetting yourselves about anything Obama for the last two years and you're now making George Bush/American Idol comparisons?

If American Idol symbolizes the Bush Administration, is the Obama Administration going to have "Reeducation Camp" with Nancy Pelosi as the host and Jeremiah Wright as the crazy sidekick?

One last comment I'd have to say because Marc Peyser makes a military comment. Yes the surge worked. No it wasn't a bad anti-war Hollywood movie that Marc would give a 5-star review to, it's really working Marc.
