Recently read your article " Holy Home Movies, Batman! " and wanted to point out amongst other things that Vudu was not the first set top box to stream high definition. It was MyTVPAL ( www.mytvpal.com ) who was the first set top box live tv and video on demand service over public internet to stream video on demand and live tv in 1080p high definition. They also came out with the first 1080p instant streaming PC Player over best effort public internet and first 1080p instant streaming portable player over best effort public internet. For proof please see the press release below.

    Press release: MyTVPal.com ??? North America???s first 1080P High Definition IPTV Service ( November 23rd, 2006 )

Please also note that Vudu's P2P video technology is not streaming, but progressive download. True streaming does not require a harddrive, maintain's high definition over low bandwidth over the public internet from PC Player, set top box, and and portable player, and is an instant playing experience with absolutely no waiting. Otherwise most other video technologies should be definied as (1) download (2) progressive download (3) high bandwidth streaming.

Matrixstream ( www.matrixstream.com ) has developed an end to end IPTV platform to stream 1080p blu-ray live tv and video on demand over low bandwidth with an instant playing experience over the best effort public internet over PC Player, set top box, and portable player. MyTVPAL is a client of Matrixstream.

PS: Please note that MyTVPAL is also the first PC Player to offer 5.1 surround sound.

PPS: Please note that MyTVPAL requires 3mbps for 720p and 6mbps for 1080p for the end user for PC Player and set top box, while Netflix requires 8mbps for 720p.
