What are u smoking Bobby Charles1? No one needs to report "the truth" about Sarah Palin, its plain to see in her interviews: She is a complete idiot. Her foreign policy experience is based on Alaska's proximity to Russia!!! I would love to see a female president of the United States, but not that female. If she EVER wins the presidency, I will move to Canada!!!

    kacameron8:

I will be inclined to take your bigoted dismissal of Southerners and Republicans as uniquely guilty of the stain of bigotry and racism seriously when the senior democrat in the US Senate is no longer a former Klan leader, and the Democrats in the NE and Midwest quit race-baiting their way into office.

  • Posted By: kacameron8 @ 12/17/2008 6:08:43 PM

I have been very leery of the Southern leadership. I am tired of them having an overeaching control of the US Government. The so-called 'reconstructed south' has never shown me a serious intent of accepting equality of races.either socially or politically. As a Californian in the military, I was sent to Biloxi, MS in 1953 and viewed first hand the ignorance of raciall bigotry. I have not seen much of a change in political emphasis since then (Neocons, Blue Dog Democrats, etc.). Their strive for political office has always been rife with reassuring the bigoted community. Until the Republicans rid themselves of the stain of bigotry and racism, they will always be a detriment the ideals of this country.

  • Posted By: Bobby Charles1 @ 12/17/2008 5:52:50 PM

My first reaction was who is MSNBC trying to put forth as their choice for the Republican candidate as they lean so far to the left I wonder what propaganda was and why. I know nothing of him for the most part and see he has little experience but good work ethic.

My next thought is this is what MSNBC use against Palin -- she was only a Governor and had no experience ---what in the world do these people smoke.

Maybe if he is worth his salt and a Real Conservative , the he can be Sarah Palins running mate.... She is the real deal that is why the media hates her and can't report the truth about her.

Just my observation - I'm sure any liberal leftist radical will in some twisted way somehow try to justify otherwise.

gonavy01, i think your comments are bigoted and ignorant. as a 12 yr navy vet i would advise u not to identify yourself as military if your gonna make dumbass comments, and if your not a sailor then change your handle and stop disrespecting my navy!!!!

Oh, the old reliable, yet ignorant ad hominem attack. Despite your obvious unhinged state, the question stands. The writer of this article said that Jindal appears to resemble "a bashful science-fair contestant". That is an intolerable stereotype, that says a lot about the author's obvious inherent racism. Has the author ever made a similar untenable comment about Obama using a wrongful black stereotype? My comment had to with the hypocrisy of the statement you mental midget.

By the way, you are not only stupid, but also very shallow. Unlike you, I don't brag about about my military service. But since you brought it up, I'm an Annapolis grad with over twenty-two years of combined active/reserve service in the Marine Corps (now retired). So, not only did I serve longer than you, I outrank you. However, unlike you, I honor the service of all veterans. Semper Fi!

Four, eight and twelve years are way too far from now to wonder if Gov. Jindal is the salvation of the Republican Party. Anything can happen between now and then. This doesn't mean we shouldn't keep our eyes on him for good or bad.

"...in the wake of Barack Obama's victory on Nov. 4, none has attracted as much speculation, curiosity and unapologetic hype..." -- you mean 'none have.'

    • Posted By: rtmeyer @ 12/17/2008 3:47:17 PM

Um, seriously? "None" represents "No one" or "not one". How, then, is it inherently plural? Your "correction" would only be correct if "not one have" were syntactically correct.

      • Posted By: Tex007 @ 12/17/2008 5:01:04 PM

"none have attracted" is the present perfect tense.... it is correct, in that it does not signify singular or plural number.

  • Posted By: NeoSoulBrotha @ 12/17/2008 5:00:59 PM

Bobby Jindal is very accomplished, but I don't think he has the public appeal of a Barack Obama. The GOP has produced some very viable candidates (think J.C. Watts, Colin Powell, etc.) but none that have made it to a primary, either by choice or by circumstance.

The key to Obama's victory wasn't necessarily just being a minority, but rather presenting an image that many Americans can easily relate to, which generates enthusiasm. That's where candidates like Bobby Jindal and Michael Steele have somewhat fallen short, despite their track record and credentials.

  • Posted By: popeye83 @ 12/17/2008 4:56:55 PM

I think he sounds like a pretty cool guy. I'd like to meet him. I'd like to meet Obama too for that matter. I think it'll take a little more time before any real judgment can be passed down about his governorship. He seems intelligent and capable. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders and stands for what he believes. So, let's see what he does. If LA flourishes, maybe this guy knows what he's doing. If it flounders, maybe he doesn't. There is so much complexity that goes into running this machine we call a country, state, or even a city that one man can't be the entire problem or solution even if he has a large role in it now. We elect these leaders and they have the gumption to take on these roles. We as citizens have the responsibility to do our part in making this country run as smoothly as it can. Your role is not less important than mine or his. We manage our lives and the responsibilities in it, he does the same. If he does it poorly things will not go well. If we do things poorly, they will not go well. I think this country has forgotten the fact that what we do each day affects the lives of those around us, regardless of position or rank. I think its something we need to do a better job of remembering.

    "U don't limit GOD", :)
You pray to an exhaulted Godess Mary..and Saints why?? Why not Pray to God?? Do you think he is to busy running the Universe?? LOL :D

    • Posted By: simply tracy @ 12/17/2008 1:14:14 PM

Now, see. That just shows that you don't know a thing about Catholicism. We do NOT worship Mary, we HONOR her as the mother of our Lord. We pray that she and the saints will intercede for us with God for our requests, much as you might ask your mother to intercede with your father when you have somehting you want, that you aren't necessarily sure he'll agree to.

Do you ask your friends and family to pray for you? Well, Mary and the Saints are part of our family, our church, our friends that we turn to at times that we feel we need a littlte extra help.

      • Posted By: 1disciple @ 12/17/2008 2:30:50 PM

May be you don't understamnd the implications of your beliefs....You don't worship her??? What do you call lighting candels?? What do call kneeling to her statue idol??
You give her godlike abilities by believing she can hear and interpret all prayers and languages offered up to her. 100-1000 at one time.....If you read the Bible , Yeshua is the only mediator between God and man. Yeshua said Pray to the Father in my name....He NEVER said pray to Mary or anyone else.

        • Posted By: simply tracy @ 12/17/2008 3:09:11 PM

Again, I say we do NOT worship Mary. We honor her. Her statue is much like the posters people put up while they write love letters to their favorite hollywood star. It's a representation, a means to focus while you talk to someone.
And as for her prayer, where do you find offense there? The first half is directly form the angel telling her she is to have God's son: "Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee." Elizabeth gave the next line (remember the mother of John the Baptist?) "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb." We merely name him, Jesus. The next line says who we consider her. "Holy Mary, Mother of God." Do you deny that she is? Or that God chose her because she was? The last is a simple request. "Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death." Would you not ask your pastor for the same? Your mother? Your father?

And kneeling before her. It is a sign of RESPECT. That we consider her to be an important person, And, oh, yes, the Mother of God is a much holier person than I could ever be and deserving of such respect. But then, I forget. We do not teach respect any more; to do so might hurt someone's self esteem.

          • Posted By: 1disciple @ 12/17/2008 4:29:29 PM

Tracy I admire your zeal...about respect that was funny...LOL
But, Regarding Mary...she is and was No different then you or me..No different then John the Baptist,Elijah, Moses or Paul or Peter...She just carried out the mission God gave her. She did her Job, like Elizabeth and doesn't deserve any more credit .Yes she is the Mother of Yeshua, but is no Higher in respect then any other Saint. Nowhere in the Bible did Yeshua ever say to pray to her, yet people do......Mary is NOT full of Grace..she is not GOD only GOD can be full of Grace....."Full of Grace" Translated from the greek Passage states: "highly Favored", big difference.
She also died...was not ascented into Heaven.... And She did die and is not Forever Virgin.
If you read Your Bible, not the Catholic Doctrine.....It Clearly points out in the original Greek translations of the New testament that Yeshua Had Half Brothers and sisters Born from the Marriage with Joseph. as a matter of Record...The books of Jude and James were written by Yeshua's Half Brothers, who became Apostles as mention in one of the Epistles written by Paul!! And also listed in the Gospels passages, that states he had 4 brothers and sisiters also. The greek word for Brotheris in reference is to a common blood Parent, translated in CONTEXT, In error, willful error people teach otherwise...that they were Yeshua's cousins.

Why does Bobby's race or faith have anything to do with what a strong leader he is.
It is sad when we can't talk about the accomplishments of someone, and not bang on the "race - religion" drum. Did anyone announce Obama as the Jesse Jackson or the "Church of Christ" candidate?
Are the only "original" ideas liberal? Does the fact he is a former Hindu, now Catholic relevant? How much time did the press talk about Obama's faith heritage? Nil......

For all of you nimrods who are talking about the past 2 years going down the toilet because of a "decmocratic-held congress," wake up! The congress can not get anything passed without the presidents approval unless there's a 2/3 majority (which they did not have). Let's focus on what those "evil democrats" did in the 90s by giving us the largest economic boom since in 30 years. Granted it was not all attributed to Clinton, but he played a major role. Now take a look at what you all voted on (i.e. Bush, Cheney, Rice, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, etc) who put us in the shitter. Don't point the finger at intelligent people because your party is run by a bunch of morons. I wish the republican party was run by intelligent people like it used to be (pre-Nixon). Finally, nobody has the right to call out Obama on his "qualifications" after these past 8 years. Jundal is a bright guy, no question (I dont't agree with most things he says though), but agree with him or not nobody can take anything away from Obama.

In response to the title of this article, Bobby Jindal is far from being like Barack Hussein Obama. He doesn't have an assortment of suspect relationships with people like Tony Rezko (indicted by the FBI), Bill Ayers (terrorist who in his earlier days decided to bomb several Federal buildings), the wrong Reverend Jeremiah Wright (who said "Not God bless America but God *%&# America"), the currently indicted governor of Illinois, and their ilk. Also, he doesn't have the mainstream media swooning over him as if he's the savior of the world. Third, Bobby Jindal doesn't need the media to withhold the discussion of what he actually believes and stands for to avoid scaring the public because phrases like "spread the wealth" and "clinging to their guns and religion" aren't spewing from his mouth. Fourth, Bobby doesn't believe that to be patriotic you have to pay more in taxes, unlike Vice President Elect Joseph Biden. Fifth, while Barack Obama's resume is as thin as paper, Bobby Jindal's resume is quite impressive as this article explains. And just as Sarah Palin is a governor and not a less-than one term U.S. Senator, state senator, and community organizer, Bobby Jindal is the CEO of a state consisting of 4,287,768 employees, according to the 2006 population report of the U.S. Census Bureau. I could go on but I'll refrain. Interesting article.

The Russia comment was made by Palin herself as "evidence" of her foreign policy experience. Google it, you will find it very easily.

    • Posted By: AF_Veteran @ 12/17/2008 12:10:15 PM

You're a *** idiot. If you had actually googled it you would find that your statement just goes to show how stupid you are. The line "I can see Russia from my house" was uttered by Tina Fey playing Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live (SNL).

      • Posted By: destinybe @ 12/17/2008 3:41:09 PM

Palin did say that you could see Russia from the edge of Alaska (which you can) but not that she could see it from her house.

Simply Tracy, please share with us the basis for your notion that "more people voted for Obabma solely because of his COLOR not his POLITICS." Or is that just your hunch based upon some form of ingrained bias you have grounded in a hollow notion that people can't think or reason. Nonetheless, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that we have significant problems in this country and without pointing a finger, we the people decided to give a man that ran a stellar campaign and defeated all odds with a message that sounded worth trying our vote. Give the American people a little more credit and join us as we roll up our sleeves to tackle our problems as an American community.

    • Posted By: destinybe @ 12/17/2008 3:36:55 PM

There are those who voted for Obama because of his color just as there are those who voted against him for the same reason. We may have come up a step in this country but there is still a long way to go.

In the situation the country is in today I don't think anyone could walk in and fix it, I fear that history will look at Obama in a negative because he will not be able to do the things he wants because of the economy.

    • Posted By: simply tracy @ 12/17/2008 1:26:02 PM

As I said, listening to the after reports. How many times did they say how great it was that they elected a BLACK man, not a GREAT man?

And that's typical of all the Liberals I have met. Someone else says something you don't agree with, you attack the person and call him/her names, not listen and see where there might be truth.

Personally, I hope he does a great job. At the same time, I hope he doesn't give away the baby with the bath water, and take what I am working hard to acheive so that someone else can sit and figure out that they can make more sitting at home while the government pays for everything rather than get out and get a job/

And before you say that doesn't happen, yes, it does.

But my point is this. If you want to help people, help them. Help them get better educations, and better jobs. Help them get off drugs and contribute to society. But help them EARN it. They will appreciate it more. Don't believe me? Think about this. Which car did you take better care of, the one you were given? Or the one that you paid for?

If you want to help, create jobs that people can do when they have low education that help them get a better education. The government could do that. It could create a whole range of jobs that while someone was working would pay for them to go back to school and learn. It could provide daycare for parents that need it while they work and study. It could work to keep families together while helping people get on their feet rather than break them apart.

If you want to help, HELP! Don't just talk about it so that you can feel good, and take from others who do, so that you can keep your pets in slavery.

If Obama wants to work to make this a better place, good luck to him. I'll watch and see. But if his plans bring us down to Third World status, I'll vote against him again.

Is that reasoned enough for you?

SimplyTracy- why do white women talk so angry and crazy? You guys have only been in the workforce for about 50-60 years! Spare me the stories of you mom or granny "slaving away" ouutside the home. It is an historical fact that most white women worked at home! Now you guys whine like you have been in the workforce forever while "certain others" sit at home on welfare! Get over yourself!
If you are struggling financially...welcome to the real...working...world white woman. It's a world where the woman works hard AND EVEN IF SHE HAS A PARTNER/HUSBAND -still struggles to make ends meet! I'm sick of white women spouting hateful crap about "third world nations" and "taxpayers supporting some _____woman sitting at home having babies- just because you had no clue how hard life can be despite working.
NO ONE LIKES CHRONIC WELFARE RECEPIENTS! BUT THEY ARE NOT WHERE MOST OF YOUR TAX MONEY IS WASTED...and you know it!!!

        • Posted By: simply tracy @ 12/17/2008 3:26:01 PM

ok, First, my mother DID work from the time she was 16 unitl two weeks before she died at almost 70 in 2007. Now, by my calculations, that means that she worked 54 years of her life, raised 4 kids, moved every 2 years until the last move in 72 with the U.S. Army, was MARRIED to the same man 47 years She never asked for a handout, never was on welfare, worked hard and worked awful shifts so that she and my dad never had to leave us with a babysitter.

I have owned my own business, raise 4 kids of my own, the three still at home are in private school, I help care for my ailing mother in law, and after selling my business due to the high cost of fuek, now work for a great boss. SHE is a lawyer, and has been practicing for almost 19 years. No one handed either her or me anything. She is still paying off the student loans she had to take in order to achieve her dream.

We were encouraged by our parents to succeed, not to look for handouts. For those who need help, we agree there should BE help. Where we differ is that I believe you help people when you help them succeed, not when you keep them down by just giving them the bare minimum to get by.

I have worked in low wage jobs. I know how difficult the work is and how useless when it costs you more to work than you make when you don't. THAT is my point! HELP these people! Don't just sit around throwing bare minimum subsistance rates at them because it keeps them voting for you! GET THEM EDUCATIONS AND JOBS THAT ALLOW THEM TO LIVE, NOT SURVIVE!

That you did not see what I was saying tells me that you are one of those liberals who would rather keep someone in chains so that you can talk about how much good you do rather than actually helping them get out of the ghetto. It's easy to pay someone just enough to survive, and watch them spend it on drugs and alcohol to try to escape the horror of their life. It's more difficult to DO something about it and free them to actually live.

Honestly, it was the worst gut punch I have ever experienced. Prejudice or racism. Neither and both. It was attributed to affirmative action. I did not vote for Obama, but we have turned a page and it is time for bipartisanship to save our country. Please put away the "white racist" cloak for any failure you or anyone you know may have experienced in recent history. Discussing slavery in 2008 is ridiculous. WHITE WOMEN HAVE WORKED OUTSIDE OF THE HOME SINCE THE MID 1940'S! YET MOST FEMALE POITICIANS, DOCTORS, CEO'S, MOVIE EXECS, LAWYERS, EVEN PRO ATHLETES ARE WHITE! YES, WHITE WOMEN DO OUTNUMBER NON-WHITE WOMEN. BUT THE PERCENTAGE OF WHITE WOMEN AS PROFESSIONALS AND IN HIGH POSITIONS IS DISPROPORTIONATE TO POPULATION NUMBERS!
THE LIE THAT BLACK WOMEN GET PAID MORE THAN WHITE WOMEN WAS BASED ON MANIPULATION OF STATS. BLACK WOMEN ARE PAID LESS, IN ALL PROFESSIONS EXCEPT "WHITE COLLAR". IN PROFESSIONAL POSITIONS, BLACK WOMEN END UP EARNING MORE THAN WHITE WOMEN DUE TO THE "SACRIFICES"! NAMELY, BLACK PROFESSIONAL WOMEN ARE LESS LIKELY TO MARRY (OR MARRY BEFORE AGE 40) AND ARE LESS LIKELY TO TAKE TIME OFF FROM CAREERS TO HAVE KIDS!
White college educated women have the edge above white men, black women, and most others (black men beiing the strange exception.
THIS PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION WAS ALL ABOUT THE TOP TWO "QUOTA BABIES"- WHITE WOMEN AND BLACK MEN!!! GETTING MORE THAN THEIR QUALIFICATION AND WORK HISTORIES WARRANTED [PALIN, CLINTON, AND OBAMA].
