Why are you comparing this guy to Obama? This guy actually has experience and good credentials.

As an Indian American, I fervently hope this man NEVER gets to rise above his present position. If you think Bush 43's conservatism was bad, this jerk will make you rethink your views. His opinions on the environment, stem cell research, poverty, etc are appalling.

I hear what you are saying and would never vote for him.

Wow, I feel so much better knowing this guy rarely eats or urinates.................journalism at it's best.

Just because the country voted in a young educated democrat doesn't mean that the GOP has a chance getting back into office with a COPYCAT. Average Americans don't and WONT buy into the GOP way.. Conservative to a psychotic degree and extremely closed minded in my opinion. Give it up GOP - you no longer exist.... its just a dream

way might have an idea worth listening to. Get over yourselves. You don't have all the answers, either.

    • Posted By: simply tracy @ 12/17/2008 9:55:33 AM

Funny, I have never met a Conservative that wasn't willing to listen to another's point of view. I have, however, met lots of liberals who would rather kill themselves than believe someone who doesn't believe THEIR

Don't anyone be fooled by Jindal. He's a typical big business-loving, middle class-shafting Republican. He's just dressed up in a smoother, more attracrtive package. He's a dedicated Regan-style conservative. It was Regan's worship of the "free market" and his early dismantling of governnment's proctective (regulatory) role in society that helped get us in the mess we are in today.

    • Posted By: simply tracy @ 12/17/2008 9:51:24 AM

As opposed to a Big Labor, Middle-class shafting Democrat? Hmm. If those are my choices, I'll take the big-business. At least there is a possibility of a job for me there, as opposed to Big Labor, who is more concerned with killing the golden goose.

Andrew Romano should be ahsamed of this profile. the media never disappoints by underestimateng the Ameraican public. A insightful discovery worthy of print is Jindal's bathroom habits when traveling???? And the reference to "looking more like a bashful science fair contestant" was clearly a racial slur akin to Bidn's 7-11 comment. The media in general, print, broadcast and "new" has really lost it's soul.

  • Posted By: sheila07940 @ 12/17/2008 9:31:14 AM

Andrew romano should be ashamed and his bosses at Newsweek even more so--- Where on earth is it reaonable ot mention a perosn's bathroom habits in a profile---- it that the most probing revelation Romano could come up with? And the reference to Jindal "looks more like a bashful science fair contestant " was a racisl sterotype if ever I heard one---makes Biden's 7-11 comment take. What is with the media????? they are mostly a disgrace!

JSB claims that the GOP includes a majority of people that are not informed and bigoted. He says as an example of this was Sarah Palin saying she could see Russia from her kitchen. If he were so informed, then he would know that this line came from the parody on SNL. I'm not quite sure that to be inclusive means you have to run exclusively non-caucasion candidates as if just being a caucasion automatically means you are racist and elitist. I find that especially funny that he conveniently fails to mention that Barak Obama enjoyed support from 98% of blacks. I'm sure race has nothing to do with that stat but I guess, as Spike Lee suggests, that blacks (and Democrats) can't be racist. Listen JSB, the Democratic party is run by snobby elites from NY, Wash, DC, and LA who think everybody that lives in places other than that, are bigoted, backward thinking rubes. Your post just proves you are one of them.

Gov. Jindal is a great gov for Louisiana. He has put in new laws to fight corruption in a state known for corrupt politics. I think it speaks volumes that Louisiana, a state in which more people are registered democrat, can overwhelmingly elect a republican candidate. When Jindal speaks he comes off as genuine and honest (hopefully that's the case). jindal has repeatedly said he will not run for president until he has finished two terms at governor and I think he isn't lying. He had a chance to be McCains VP but he said he had an obligation to a hurricane ravaged state for which he loves. I am very proud to have him as my governor.

This article will certainly stimulate more interest in Jindal, Been reading about him for some time and he is a "comet" on the political scene. Without reiterating his obvious attributes, which are many, and real, he is still only human. A Reagan Republican ? So was Bush, and McCain, were they not ? And many many others trying to emulate the last charimatic GOP president, who as time goes by doesn't appear as charming as he did on television, As an Independent I will of course consider Jiindal as a national candidate, but his 'pragmatism' has not yet been tempered with maturity, which comes only with time and experience, Good luck, Bobby-you'll need it with the radicals in your party on the extreme Right.

I am from Louisiana. The voters did not experience buyers remorse as the author of this article wrote. Blanco did not run for reelection, so we will never know if the voters would have chosen him over her, thus showing "buyer's remorse". The fact is that the Democratic candidate for Governor was extrememly weak. His candidacy was a perfect example of party politics with the "I paid my dues" so now I am going to run. The dems did not get the best candidate possible. I understand the purpose of this article, but it is contributing to the miseducation of the low information voter. I just wanted to clear the record. It may have been "buyer's remorse" against the party, but not factual if the author says it was "buyer's remorse" against Blanco...she didn't run! Geaux Saints!

I am not sure exactly what to make of this article. On one hand, it is encouraging to see the GOP (presumably) endorse someone who does not fit the mold that Middle-America sees as 'Presidential' - caucasian male. If in fact Middle-America can wrap itself around someone who doesn't look like them, then indeed there is still hope for this country. I have always maintained that if the GOP is as inclusive as they would have us believe, then they should run a qualified minority. The notion that we should be judged by our character and not our physical characteristics is crucial to our survival as a world power as our melting pot becomes more ethnically diverse.

Still, it's interesting that after the GOP's humiliating defeat last month, suddenly we are introduced to some 'new' blood. Where were these people when Sarah Palin was telling us how she could see Russia from her kitchen? I'd like to think that there are truly intelligent and qualified people in both parties from which we could draw our leaders. Their gender, their ethnic origin nor the religion they follow should matter. Of course, that's really an argument the Republicans need to sell to some of their less informed constituents in 'red' states. If Govenor Jindal ever aspires to run for president as a GOP nominee, he will unfortunately have to break bread with some of the most bigoted and badkward thinking people imaginable.

This forum explains why Newsweek has become such a pulp paper rag full of bias and racism. They are writting what there readers like to hear.

If Jindal ran for president I would definitely support him, no ands, ifs or buts about it. It's how he feels now but things could change in four years, you never know what can happen. I only know Jindal would definitely have my support one hundred percent.

To any Indian, it is obvious that Bobby Jindal has converted to Catholicism purely as a matter of political convenience. All the stories of his 'awakening' are hosh-posh. The guy is just too rational, educated and smart to fall for something like the scriptures and 'demonic' rituals to suddenly start yearning for becoming a 'Catholic'. Its a fact that most Hindus especially in the US, and even urban Indian Hindus hardly follow any religious rituals or have any strong religious connotations at all. Surely the Jindal household was typical - so 'raised in a strong Hindu culture' means hardly anything at all. Net-net, its political expediency. If he had been in Saudi Arabia, Bobby would have converted to Islam, and probably would have had supporting stories about how he was awakened to that faith. Not to take away his intellect, or his accomplishments, but surely Americans should not be naive enough to believe that this guy has converted because he suddenly found the virtues of Catholicism simply irresistible!

the facts are the facts...i dont have to resort to name calling/dropping... too bad u cant say the same.... go find out for yourself...sounds like you could use some research.

Your problem as evidenced by your earlier post is that you have to reject the facts and the obvious so you can elect an alternative reality that is somehow more comfortable to you than 'researching' that Obama's birth certificate has been available for so long. Please research why Hillary, McC and the RNC have not sued over Obama's birth if your 'sources' have any validity at all.

Facts are facts. However, conspiracy theories are also conspiracy theories. Berg, the person pushing one of the Obama conspiracies is also a "9/11 truth" person as well.

  • Posted By: hammondext @ 12/16/2008 2:41:47 AM

At least Jindal can present a VALID American born Birth Certificate, making him a legitimate candidate.......Something a well known dumocrat attorney has been suing the obama camp to provide, for quite some time.....

    • Posted By: 40YearR @ 12/16/2008 1:33:04 PM

Why did not Hillary, McC or the RNC file such lawsuits themselves on that birth certificate issue? Are they in league with Obama and the MSM to hide 'the truth' also?
