The FREE ENTERPRISE SYSTEM IS DEAD IN THE U.S., KILLED BY THE GREED OF AMERICANS

  • Posted By: austin c @ 12/18/2008 11:45:50 AM

How the $50 billion scandal will affect average Americans.? The answer is that this monstrous fraud has hurt a lot of middle and upper class people, which in turn support a lot of jobs, like home building, improvement, dining, gardening, yachting, cruise, gambling, entertaining, air flight etc all of which will suffer another step of slowdown.

Hold on their partoftheplan!!! During the French revolution the people of France were dying in the streets from lack of food to eat. Nobody is going to be rioting against the rich in America because the middle class is simply too large and diverse. You may pull in 100k a year and live down the street form someone pulling in 10 million are you going to grab your Dunlop golf clubs get into your Toyota Camry and murder someone who has Callaway clubs and a Porche?.
The situation in France was very different and it was about DRASTIC differences with regards to rights from birth, etc it was essentally a fight against the status quo...very different then our situation today. Lets not spread irrational fear and get carried away here. Some people got greedy, it has happened before and will happen again. I dont think your going to see a guillotine in Times Sqaure anytime soon.

What these fat cats are not considering is that America is on the verge... It is not going to take much more to have the roits that are occuring in Greece to happen here, however the anger will not be toward the police or state it will be directed toward the rich. Study the French revolution and who got their heads cut off. Make no mistake I wish that on no one, but if these chacters think they can just take and take. A "fight club" idea may surface....maddness is like gravity; all it takes is a little push.

This man should get a life sentence. How much money do some of these people think they need that they have no concern about what happens to anyone else in the world?! Greedy! Greedy! Greedy!

It seems that no one on Wall Street was doing their job. Just because Madoff was a nice guy and a "pillar" of the community has was given a pass. Now we see that the Auditor was a sham and the SEC was asleep at the switch. And the Fund of Fund guys who wheeled in truck loads of cash for Bernie to "invest" never checked him out and some of them had ALL of the funds in his basket. All of these people are nuts and incompetent and don't deserve $10 let alone the millions they awarded themselves.

How will hedge funds that shorted the market realize a gain on
their winnings with other hedgers that lost? It seems that the
hedge funds that lost will not have the cash to pay up. If so,
what effect could this have on the financial market?

How will any hedge funds who shorted the market this year collect
their winnings with other hedge funds who lost? And what will be
the long term effect from hedgers not being able to pay up?

It seems to me that this article follows the pattern seen over an over, of trying to scare the common man into thinking that the wealthy investors in the Madoff funds should be bailed out with the common man's tax dollars.

You could not have been more right.

Add the SEC (Chris Cox R CA) to the long, long list of government agencies totally f---ed up by George Bush in the name of political ideology. There is not one part of government that remains undamaged by 8 years of corruption and ineptitude. The media also shares blame. They gave this guy a pass in 2000 and 2004 cause he was a "good ole boy" He was and is a fraud; someone who got bailed out out by his Dad overe and over until he failed his way nto the White House with the complicity of ignorant Americans

He never got into my pockets since I cashed out last year....all stocks and holdings.

The only part of the Goverment that pays attention to the little guy is the I.R.S just to make sure they can milk us for every penny owed. Other than that....they don't care! That was made clear long ago with KING BUSH

I am sure he probably did steal everyone's money. The feds were too busy wire tapping escort services and dispatching armies of FBI agents to raid massage parlors to worry about billion dollar white collar rip offs. They showed us what is moral. Stealing is ok. Sex is a felony.

Maybe I am misreading FriedrichPaulBerg's comment... is he saying he has begun to like Madoff BECAUSE he thinks Madoff may be an anti-Semite or a Jewish neo-Nazi?

Maybe its just sarcasm... hard to tell in this medium. But otherwise, why would anyone celebrate the conduct of a con-man who has apparently harmed so many people?

  • Posted By: FriedrichPaulBerg @ 12/17/2008 3:18:38 PM

Actually, I am starting to like Bernie Madoff. Is he a closet anti-Semite, or a jewish neo-Nazi, or a holocaust-denier?
Perhaps he should even be given an honorary "holocaust denier" award. We love you, Bernie!
