"Malaysia privately informed the Bush administration that its legal authority to detain Sufaat had expired, but promised Washington that he would be kept under close observation, the U.S. official indicated. But counter-terror officials here expressed doubt that Sufaat has abandoned his radical Qaeda views or his desire to attack the United States with biological weapons. They also point out that Sufaat played an assisting role in planning the 9/11 attacks. He hosted two of the hijackers along with two other veteran Al Qaeda operatives at a terror "summit" in Kuala Lumpur in Jan. 2000."

Why the hell wasn't he extradited for trial?

Once a terroist, always a threat to fall back into the fold. This is one dangerous, well educated inividual with a deep hatred toward the West and Isreal. Watch this one be a direct contributor to the next attack.

Once a terrorist, and always a threat to be one dangerous individual with deep hatred toward the West and Mid East. This man should not have been released. I would venture to say he will be back into the fold within months. Watch out for a Biological attack within 2 years.

If it was well known that the terrorist Sufat was involved in 9/11, then why was he in Malaysia and not in Gitmo?
