I cannot beleive how this article, this magazine compares the deeds of Bernard Madoff and Mukesh Ambani. This is a way of saying ''all rich people handling a lot of money - no matter if they do it in entirely different ways - are idiothic and mean to all the poor homeless people in the world''. Why on earth do they punish a person's honest success? Is it a bad thing to be rich? it's true, there are lots of ***holes taking wrong desicions and then ''washing their hands'' later. But it's also true that there are people who has EARNED what they have, and even so, they give away part of their HONESTLY EARNED money to help others. If i've worked my *** off, and have done every single thing right, then i DESERVE to enjoy my success. By the way, i´m a middle-low class university student in Venezuela, so don't think i'm ''sun shawering'' in Bora Bora swimming in my pool of green, old folks printed paper.
All societies have their share of wealthy idiots who think they don't have to answer for their actions. IT IS NOT A RELIGION MATTER!! How can people say that the jews are the rotten root of all the wrong things being done? YOU F***ING NAZIS!!! I'm one of the few who think that Adolf Hitler was an example for all hard working people when he took the ashes of a contry and make it so powerful both economicaly and industrialy in a astonishing way, because Germany was an awfull mess in the '30s. BUT HE DID IT DiMINISHING A GROUP OF PEOPLE JUST BECAUSE THEIR SYSTEM OF BELEIVES WAS DIFFERENT, AND PUTTING ALL THE GUILT IN THEIR SHOULDERS!!! THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE IN ANY WAY!!! doing so, it's just another way of ''passing on'' responsabilities of shameful acctions. It's not important to whom do you enthrust your prayers, is a question of saying ''yes, i did that, so i'll help clean up the mess''

Why it dosen't take -a fifth grader- to see why they are in trouble. BUILD A CAR THAT DOESN'T RUN YOU TO THE POOR HOUSE FIXING IT EVEY COUPLE OF MONTHS AFTER YOU BUY IT! I have 5 cars all 3 new american cars were always in the dealer run repair shop-sure it was under warranty, but the so called deductable of $100 and the rental fees were breaking me! My kids other 2 cars-TOYOTA made theTundra is 7 years old $0.00 in repair cost...the other toyota 3 years old $75 foe a new fan belt...C'mon america car makers you charge more than anyone else but you build "PLANNED FAILURE, ON PARTS , DON'T BELIEVE IT SAMPLE REPAIR SHOPS, ALL YOU HAVE TO DUE IS DRIVE BYE THEM AND LOOK AT THE CARS WAITING TO BE REPAIRED, CALLED TOWING COMPANIES. If you really want to compete " take some pride---not pick our pockets!!!!

"The rich have money and the poor have jealousy."
And the petit bourgeois -- who seem to comprise a lot of the posters here -- have no brains!

THE SMIRK ON STEVE MADOFF FACE SAYS IT ALL WHY IS OUT ON BAIL WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE JUDGE WHO HAS SET HIS BAIL HE SHOULD BE LOCKED UP FOR WHAT HE HAS DONE. AND FOR THE REST OF THE IDIOTS THEY SHOULD ALL GIVE BACK THERE BONUSES SELL OFF ALL PROPERTY AND REAL ESTATE TO REPAY THE COMPANIES THAT THEY HAVE DEFRAUDEDAND RUN INTO THE GROUND. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO QUIT BAILING OUT ALL THESE COMPANIES AND HELP THE LITTLE PEOPLE. IF I GO INTO DEBT AND CAN NOT PAY MY BILLS IS THE GOVERNMENT GOING TO STEP UP AND BAIL ME OUT. INSTEAD OF GIVING ALL THE BIG COMPANIES THE HANDOUT TO SAVE A FEW COMPANIES GIVE IT TO THE PEOPLE SO THEY CAN PAY THERE BILL AND BUY A CAR. WHAT THE GOVERNMENT HAS DONE IS NOT GOING TO HELP OUT THE WORKING CLASS. AND FOR THE AUTO WORKERS, FIRE THEM ALL AND HIRE NEW PEOPLE AT HALF THERE PAY WITH LESS BENEFITS THERE ARE PLENTY OF PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT WOULD BE HAPPY TO TAKE HOME HALF OF WHAT THE GUYS MAKE THAT WORK THE ASSEMBLY LINE AT ANY AUTO PLANT. EVER SEEN ANY OF THOSE GUYS BREAK INTO A SWEAT HELL I THINK YOU COULD TRAIN A MONKEY TO DO IT AND A MONKEY WOULD NEVER GO ON STRIKE.

Dear Ghost Tiger, it sounds like you have a lot of anger issues. Maybe if you submitted your Life to the Lord Jesus Christ and learned to serve others, your problems would go away.

To all the rich that got upset by some these comment . If yo are donating and giving back then no one was talking about you. , but if you for the lack of a better word are "Greedy" then you should rot.
I am not rich and I am not jealous, I also give back because I believe "I am my brother's keep" How does aCorporate CEO take home 358 million while laying off the people in the mail room.
There are plenty of people in jail for stealing far less then 50 billion?
If your bail was 10 million can you mortage your 2 home while other sleep in the street. This is the rich people we are talking about. .
Greed knows no ethnic group. Greedy people only know green.

Just remember gravity, crap runs downhill not uphill, the shysters uphill wipe clean clean and walk away, the boys down below are left to try to clean up the mess and they will get no thanks.

  • Posted By: regularguycaughtinthemiddle @ 12/19/2008 10:14:24 PM

Just remember the law of gravity, crap runs downhill, the folks at the top can wipe clean, people at the bottom are left with the rest of the crap.

Your missing the point. NOT ONE OF THESE PEOPLE HAVE OFFERED TO PAY ANY OF THE MONEY THAT THEY THINK THAT THEY"EARNED" BACK. Along with the fact that many more of their friends are gonna get their BONUSES for the year. If your company is in the red for the year you get no bonus. And I cannot wait for there taxes to become due. George Bush is not my favorite president but at least we know that he is pulling the wool over our eyes since the pardons have started to come out and his rich friends are gonna be out of jail to start the scamming again. Its not gonna get any better until we go back to trading rocks as currency. Oh wait they are rich they did nothing wrong.....

I absolutely agree with you Crashbear. I find it ludricrous that many US CEO's feel they deserve multi-million dollar bonuses when their companies were bailed out with tax dollars, or they are in the red.

I also feel that our politicians need to take a salary cut and benefit cut. We have the highest paid politicians in the entire world and I laugh my butt off when I hear politicians say our CEO's are the highest paid in the world. Our CEO's are, and frankly it is the same percentage as our politicians are overpaid compared to other countries.

It always comes from the top and works it's way down.

Ya but they use the excuse our country is the riches in the world and have a huge GNP.Never mind the country is bankrupt

Capitalism is the astounding belief that the most wickedest of men will do the most wickedest of things for the greatest good of everyone
    John Maynard Keynes
    English economist (1883 - 1946)

Hopefully Keynesian economics 101 is long gone and buried amongst the rich and the super rich friends of the powerbases. Whta we now face is the amalgam of poorest ethics, weakest accountability, massive get rich schemes and scams, excessive "book-dressings", bogus real estate deals, awful Ratings Companies who also connive and cook the books, gullible investors with herd-mentalities, and some smart get-rich artistes, who will even sell their sould for the fleeting dollars!! Enough of these bamd of crooks!!!

  • Posted By: bwilliams252 @ 12/19/2008 8:55:40 PM

These investors know better - you don't put all your eggs in one basket - they were being greedy and they paid the price - everything comes with risk - they just chose to be at risk more than they should have been. I don't have nearly what they had and even I know better - without being a wizz kid.

Boo hoo, Newsweek makes much of these frauds, allows financial companies to advertise, puts these frauds on the cover and in important stories inside, and then goes "holier than thou" with these "exposes".

Ignore this, there are frauds and war criminals at Newsweek too, those that touted the Iraq WMDs for example.

    Let them all eat cake!

    • Posted By: shutterboy22 @ 12/19/2008 8:35:12 PM

I cringe at the thought of all the crooked people who manage others money. The rule seems to be "Who can get by with the most fraud"!

"America has become the place where the captains of industry & government are above the law. A society in which justice fails is, in essence a lawless society."

Become a place? We've always been this way - every place has always been this way.

While most of these are terrible, especially as they impact many other people, I'm wondering why simple "big spending" was included for some of the folks who committed no crime. It is excessive, and probably even wasteful, but it's really bizarre to include those in the same category. Some guy threw a big party...yes, and...?

  • Posted By: ameican in distress @ 12/19/2008 8:04:17 PM

I agree with Arthur8. Have them sell off all of thier real property, all of the money out of thier stocks, savings account, mutual funds etc..... then that may send a signal to the other up and coming millionares that you should have morals and ethics.
also jail time might not hurt either, and I don't mean one with a country club setting

There is a problem with basic integrity and ethics woven throughout our society. Our government representatives (not all) have forgotten the whole of their constituency and have allowed preferred individuals and corporations to persuade policy, escape basic rules of conduct and ethical business practises, not pay their fair share of taxes and ignore the rule of law. Greed has become the order of the day. Unfortunately, people seemingly cannot or will not moniter themselves which forces such a large society to organise under some form of government with representatives who are subject to the failings to which many humans tend to succumb. We must return to the rule of law and ethical practises. There are those of the power elite who must answer to the rule of law and we as a people must demand it. Oh yeah, and while we're at it, let's have them return all the money they ripped off.
