Why kill this product if there is demand for it?

As for the social costs, just raise the drinking age to 30. There will be less fights in bars and clubs and the streets will be a whole lot safer. And while we are at, pregnancy permits, no one can get legally pregnant without demonstrating an IQ of 100 or better. If you get pregnant without a permit then it's off to preggo jail and you give up the baby for adoption when the child is born.

If only your "passion" were directed at something socially useful. The reason this article is a "web exclusive" is that it is not fit to print.

under age drinking-- everyone does it and the sooner you start the sooner you get used to it and can behave normally. in this PC era under gar drinking is about the same as child molesting

I don't believe high-caffeine drinks have ever been proven to be dangerous except to those who lack intestinal fortitude, in which case it's more of a discomfort. Science has tried for centuries to prove coffee is dangerous and are still empty-handed. There is a gigantic disclaimer on the orange can that clearly states, CONTAINS ALCOHOL. The larger issue is how underage drinkers got ahold of any alcoholic beverage, not banning a delicious adult beverage that happens to be delivered in a sleek and well-designed package. This is simply another case of The Man taking another right away from the People.b

I'm saddened to read your article. Although your writing completely encompassed my passion for the beverage, I'm sad so to read that my all time favorite addiction will be gone for good
    :(

Not to be picky, but you should have all your facts straight before you publish an article. Today's Sponge was never deemed unsafe, the company that made them had to close their plant. This could be reveal from a quick search online... did Newsweek have a random blogger write this piece?

Not only was Sparks aggressively marketed to a young group of consumers, but like all high-caffeine drinks (not to mention alcohol too) they are dangerous and put drinkers at risk. Aa good article on caffeine facts is on the Ethic Soup blog at:
