Obama is representing all religions, faith, creed, belief and culture. He is representing America. Why should there be any preferences?

    • Posted By: bohdansz @ 12/21/2008 2:44:14 AM

Nawavimohamad, Obama is representing the worst breed of secular humanism, which castrates all religions! Obama will bring the world unspeakable misery!

Mein Obama: you renounce Roe v. Wade first, before you proclaim yourself "the savior of the world"! We Christians have one Savior, Jesus Christ, and the last time I checked, He is staunchly against the murder of the unborn, which you and your Party perpetuate!

bohdansz ~ America should first RENOUNCE adultery, stealing, killing, bearing false witness AND ALL of the other Commandments PRIOR to addressing or attacking gays . . . who died and left you in charge?

Babygirl, the Christian s are stern toward gays because their Bible is stern. We cannot condone homosexuality, but we can, and must try to convert gays! This is the will od Jesus, the First Christian! He did not vanish from the world. He left other Christians to do His will! I am one of them!

Obama is a muslim. You can take man out of religion , but you cannot take religion out of a man. He was born with that religion, he can change it for political reason, or a financial reason, but he is still a muslim. He said that he didn't practice it. He doesn't have to. I am a christian and I don't practice it. He can go to any church he wants, as far as I care he can go back to Rev. Wright . Either church he chooses to go, he will need all the help he can get to find his roots, and be what he is, not what he pretend to us to be.

You can not be "born" a religion. You might be born into a religion or raised a religion, but not born a religion. He was raised by a mom and grandmother who taught him christian ways.

Rick Warren obviously has a different perspective than you do about homosexuals. However, to state that someone is extremely ignorant because he disagrees with your viewpoint isn???t open-minded, brilliant or insightful: It???s just name calling. He states what he believes, openly, honestly and to the world at large. I don???t doubt that some homosexuals are offended by what he has said. However, to state that it was extremely ignorant sets you up as the judge of what is and isn???t ignorant. I suggest you might not be up to the task.

"Warren has said extremely ignorant and offensive things about gay people . . .." This comment by a supposed "impartial" journalist just shows how far left "Newsweek" really is. And, just to note, a great number of Evangelical Christians, myself included, do not approve of Warren's watered-down gospel.

  • Posted By: dbz_gt_crazy @ 12/21/2008 2:14:52 AM

Christians who affirm that the Bible is divine revelation through human writings cannot be consistent and deny that God does not approve of homosexual activity based on 1) The Book of Acts where the council decides which laws out of the Law of Moses, apart from all of the general moral laws which are restated in new ways in the New Testament, the Gentile converts were supposed to follow. See Acts 15:22-29. 2) Paul, in the book of Romans, clearly sees homosexual activity as sin. He uses the phrase "that which is unnatural." Some people have tried to say that this means if someone is "naturally" homosexual then that's how they should live; however, in ancient Greek writings like in those of Tacitus and Josephus, the phrase "para physis" (that which is against nature) is universally used to speak about homosexuality. See Romans 1:26 3) The New Testament condemns all sexual immorality, and that would have included, in the minds of the ancient audiences of the original churches, the sexual acts condemned in the Old Testament.

All of that said, it is not assumed by all Christians that people choose their orientation at a point in their lives. This does not, however, lower the level of their accountability before God for how they choose to live. It is folly to think that sins like losing one's temper over silly things have no physical basis.

There is grace available to all who will come to Christ and trust in Him, and He will enable everyone to either be completely changed and healed of their physical troubles, or at least to be enabled to live lives of holiness despite temptations of the enemy that exploit aspects of one's physical/psychological makeup while in this world.

Christians cannot be consistent and support homosexuality as a lifestyle. They should learn more about it biblically and scientifically, however, and should be supportive and loving of those who struggle with it. Keep in mind that love with eternity in view looks very much different than love with only this lifetime in view, and the difference is faith in Christ and His unfailing Word. Blessings!

dbz_gt_crazy ~ homosexuality IS a sin but America should first deal with adultery, stealing, killing, bearing false witness AND ALL OTHER Commandments PRIOR to addressing or attacking gays . . . why do we so quickly forget about the first Ten Commandments and skip to homosexuality and sin?

face it folks, obama is not a christian ! he is a muslim ! his girls don't get christmas gifts, they just go on vacation to get away from christmas ! many people go on vacation, but he is getting away from it !

    • Posted By: rlmconnect @ 12/21/2008 2:19:28 AM

Now this one comment stands out as the most silly of them all and that is saying something. He doesn't celebrate Christmas because he goes away on vacation? The man is going to Hawaii where he grew up for Christmas. Where do you get that his daughters do not get gifts? If they didn't does that mean he doesn't celebrate Christmas? Could it be that maybe he wants to stress the true meaning of Christmas? If they do, would that make him materialistic? Mind your own business what he does with his family on Christmas is none of your business.

"Black religious leaders did not stand up for Wright even as they understood and sympathized with the prophetic theology he was steeped in." It would be interesting to discover how the author of this article knows this as a fact. It was certainly depicted to be a fact. The "Black" church is growing up along with the rest of Black America. It is the same and then different. It is attacking the plight of the young in the inner cities, as it always has done. However, there are many "post soul-babies" serving as Ministers in these churches and many of them have PhD's and JD's. There is a tone in this article that brings to mind the types of assumptions that have always been made regarding the Black community, even as it professes to highlight how far the Black community has come.

Martian Luther King was not democrat he was a conservative republican!
His Dream would have supported a Black Man being in the white house,
With one major difference he would have been pro. Life!

Never in history of united states including the carter years have has the truth
been disordered the truth as this election!
One only needs to look at his voting record to understand the change we are
    going to get!.
You do not stay in a church for 20 years and not notice that anti American rants
Of Rev. Jeremiah Wright could not be ignored! Obama denied it at first then
only after You Tube showed him sitting there he changed his story that maybe
he was in fact there when he said those things!!!
That says one thing he lied and got caught in it, then tried to cover it with more
    lies!

Elenor when you say something get the facts when Rick Warren asked Obama when
Life started he said it was above his pay scale what the heck did that mean??? he
Could came up with better one then that!

I???ll keep my guns, freedom,& money you keep the change

Can you imagine what would happen to a dictator having a press conference where a reporter thru their shoes at them? They would be shot. Wow, how far Iraq has come!

We all should stand up for what we believe in. Can you say any President represents everybodies prefernences? Its called Liberty to chose. Just because your President of the USA doesnt mean you forfeit your prefernences? You do represent a country of many preferences.

Christians . . . Christians . . . Christians ~ or want to be classified as Christians, I am not homosexual but know some persons who are . . . that???s between them and God . . . unless God has spoked to you and informed you otherwise. Homosexuality did not make the Top 10 (Commandments) . . . so America should first place a BAND on adultery, stealing, killing, bearing false witness AND ALL OTHER Commandments PRIOR to addressing or attacking gays . . . who died and left you in charge?

    I. Thou shalt have no other gods beside me.
II. Thou shalt not make to thyself an idol, nor likeness of anything, whatever things are in the heaven above, and whatever are in the earth beneath, and whatever are in the waters under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down to them, nor serve them; for I am the Lord thy God, a jealous God, recompensing the sins of the fathers upon the children, to the third and fourth generation to them that hate me, and bestowing mercy on them that love me to thousands of them, and on them that keep my commandments.
III. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord thy God will not acquit him that takes his name in vain.
IV. Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days thou shalt labour, and shalt perform all thy work. But on the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God; on it thou shalt do no work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy servant nor thy maidservant, thine ox nor thine ass, nor any cattle of thine, nor the stranger that sojourns
with thee. For in six days the Lord made the heaven and the earth, and the sea and all things in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it.
    V. Honour thy father and thy mother, that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest live long on the good land, which the Lord thy God gives to thee.
VI. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
    VII. Thou shalt not steal.
    VIII. Thou shalt not kill.
IX. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
    X. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife; thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house; nor his field, nor his servant, nor his maid, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any of his cattle, nor whatever belongs to thy neighbour.

I would be willing to wager a good amount that this writer cannot tell you one thing Warren has said about gays. She is just spouting out what other people have said about him. The gay community is the angriest bunch of people in America and they literally hate anyone who disagrees with their agenda. .

To Christfollower1: No, I was directing my earlier post to greggsguitars who seems to have an endless amount of knowledge yet continues to contridict hisself every other post. He has answers (opinions) for everything and I have yet to see him agree with anyone regarding any issue.

To you Foreigner, I could not agree more.

This will be my last post and in it I would just like to leave wishing everyone and their families good health, happiness and peace in your heart during a safe holiday season. Last but not least, an open mind. Please, keep Christ in Christmas.

Foreigner: true comment. We have multiple balances of power and a primary two partty system with checks and balances. I believe when things tilt too far right we go left and when things go too far left we go right. Therefore the voters have spoken and I look forward to the future. How do you think President Obama feels that the Secret Service and the Military is trained to take a bullet for him? Thats tradition and honor. I wonder if you volunteer for that? Is that their duty?

kate. Whats the answer? Accountabilty? I agree with what you say. Poor disipline. You listed all the problems? How are you held accountable. The general public doesnt see it. I respect and thank you for your service. I have 5 children and I believed in the parent teacher relationship. I think that is missing from my day s of schooling. Do you think the union is holding you back? Laws? I also think the red light went off before there was a problem. I am curious to hear your thoughts on improvement. There has to be good stories out there that work!

    • Posted By: kateyjo @ 12/21/2008 1:32:56 AM

We are held accountable by parents, taxpayers, school board members, and administrators. We are expected to please each and every one of them even though none of them want the same things. We have many children in our school who do not speak English at home and yet they must take standardized tests in English and our teachers are held accountable for their scores. We try to maintain an environment where children are free to learn without prejudice or fear and yet we have parents who will fight with us when their child is disciplined for breaking clearly spelled out school rules. We live in a society where the schools are supposed to solve all the problems and turn out intelligent, successful people. Some of our children are not as capable as others. It is not a teacher's fault or a parent's fault or the child's fault. There are many levels of intelligence and some of our brightest children do not get good grades. What's the answer? Who knows? I only know that every teacher in my school gives 110% and will always go the extra mile for the child who needs help.

Nick....do you feel like you are an authority to call someone ignorant? How highly you must feel of yourself.

  • Posted By: Junto @ 12/21/2008 1:26:58 AM

There are a lot of 'extremely ignorant' ideas about homosexuality. I wonder if you have studied scientific method and if so, if you have read any research on questions on addictive sexual behaviors/associations and treatable psychological associative disorders? Many people have real homosexual desires and are denied any help or counseling in dealing with them because the condition has been re-written as a civil rights issue. We have been very hurtful to our gay communities through political correctness. Shame on you for your declarative judgment on Rick Warren's statements. It seems like no one can talk about this associative condition today without being labeled as hateful.
