How can you say "Warren has said extremely ignorant and offensive things about gay people." Yes, I imagine they are offensive to gay folks... calling homosexuality a sin and not embracing the cultural tolerance that says "I was born gay" can be percieved as ignorance. But reallly saying it's ignoracen just exposes your ignorance. Rick Warren is one of the most well read and informed people on the face of the planet. to greggsguitars: As a teacher, may I say that we are held accountable and we are usually held accountable for things we have no control over. Students with low scores? Check their home life. We give our students as much as we can. We can't go home and do homework with them (although we offer homework help before and after school), we can't go pick them up and bring them to school when their parents oversleep, and we can't refuse to allow them to go on two week vacations with their families during school time. We try to maintain order in our classrooms and yet we have parents who refuse to allow their children to stay for detention because they think the punishment is "too harsh". Our hands are tied in so many ways. Teachers are so overburdened with paperwork, standardized test preparation, and classes we must take to maintain our own standards of excellence that the days simply don't have enough hours to do it all.

Well Greg, at the risk of pointing fingers. Look down at the gentlemans post just prior to yours. Mr Capslocker and the man who thinks .................. is a dramatic Orillyish pause for effect. That sir, right there is the consequences of 30 years of caring more about what Church he goes to then any substance in policy.

And really, who cares? I could care less if he goes to church much less what church he goes to. I did not vote for him for his religious leanings. I voted for him for his presidential skills. He could draw an upside down cross on his willy and invoke the greek god pan for all I care.

We discussed the situation with Suddam in Iraq thru the United Nations for years and he thumbed his nosed at an international establishment. He was a brutal person as found by thousand of dead citizens of his country he called his own. I believe the USA should be more involved proir to military action. We should be more aggressive with Africa. We should of invaded Iran when we invaded Iraq. Never come in the USA and do what was done on 911. A job or health care is not an entitlement. The government does not owe us a job or health care. We make choices. God has given us that ability. The south is way better off then the northeast. I know what the unemployment is in Fla. Go to Mass, NY or New Jersey. Those states have been under the rule of democrats for years and they are terrible!

Thanks for your reply. Also, thanks for doign what you do. It's respectd. So anyways, it came down to a few things, huh? I can appreciate that. You made your choice based on what you felt was the most important. I'm curious though, Democrates aren't generally for school systems. Not in a meaningful anyway. They just want to throw money at it and hope it will go away. That and the teacher unions can go unchecked. Hmmm...keep in mind that I very well can be totally wrong here as I am not teacher nor do I know what it is like in your area. I am a substitute teacher though so I have 'some' knowledge of what's going on. If I recall, Obama did say he wanted some sort of teacher program enacted. Kind of a reward system. Do you think it will work?

I'm sorry to hear about your job situation. I hope something comes along the way. Maybe a local organization or the State has an opening?

I'm amazed at the ridiculous comments in this forum. Why are so many people badmouthing Obama already when he isn't even in office yet? Give him four years. If you don't like what he does then vote him out of office. Skin color, religion (our country was built on religious FREEDOM), and black or white parents have nothing to do with what the man may or may not accomplish as our president. Let's all support him and give him a chance.
