How about legalized marijuana??? Today's laws, if you're caught with a couple of grams, you might as well have robbed a bank with a sawed-off shotgun! It is truly time to END this "pot-prohibition" !!!!!!!!!!!!

go back and read the article again clearly you were not paying attention the first time. women and girls are being kidnapped and FORCED into prostitution by thier captors NO CHOICE INVOLVED. and the current laws protect the kidnappers. so your whole idea about how ridiculous it would be to pass laws protecting drug dealers and gun runners is exactly the point!!! thats what the current laws do, and it is time they changed!
I seriously doiubt that if the cops break up a sex slave ring they just let the kidnappers go and arrest the prostitutes.
Whores are vulnerable? What about the unsuspecting wives and girfriends of men who pay for sex? No man would feel good knowing his woman paid some guy for sex. Women don't like it either. I know a woman who caught STD from her husband. THIS IS NOT A VICTIMLESS CRIME!!!
STD's don't care who you are and most who got 'em don't care they are spreading 'em - do you want one?? STD kill people, cause infertility and cause health problems for life. You choose. The thrill of a few minutes or the thrill of a long healthy life. You want to go to prostitutes or bag the bimbo at the office or where ever, go right ahead - just don't come home to me A hole, I vote for life.
If Selling is legal and Fuc*ing is legal why can't you sell a fu*k? George Carlin we really really miss you!!
"If selling is legal and *** is legal why can you sell a ***?" George Carlin We Miss YOU!
Let me begin by saying that I don't believe that it is okay to rape or harm a prostitute just because he/she works in the sex industry, however...
Complaining about being subject to rape or assualt while ingaging in an illegal occupation is like going to the police if someone robs you during a crack deal. Don't do something illegal and you wouldn't be in that situation. By willingly engaging in a illegal transaction you are knowingly giving up your rights to police protection.
I think i must have missed something in the article, if someone would kindly explain. It's claimed that legalizing prostitution would make it safer for all involved, correct? that the girls would have to have regular health check ups to make sure that they are still safe to practice their trade? That sounds sensible, but what about the girls who already have something a condom won't protect against? would they not be allowed to practice any more? If they are doing it in the first place, one would assume that need the money. Well, if they don't pass the health checks, and are basically told they can't legally practice, what is going to stop them from illegally practicing? And, from a business standpoint, I imagine they would charge less then their legal colleagues so as to attract business away from said colleagues. A cheaper service, despite the risk, is still cheaper. after all, people still buy pirated dvd's even though it's illegal and you can get full quality legally for just a few bucks more.
Also, if they are given health cards, as i think someone mentioned, couldn't they make a fake one if their health isn't top notch? People fake Ids and driver's licenses all the time, so couldn't they fake a health card as well?
was all this explained somewhere, and I just missed it?

The whores are crying over their vulnerability - what about the wives and girlfriends of the johns?!?!? Would any MAN want to have sex with his woman if he knew she had paid sex with a guy?!? Well, no WOMAN wants a man who pays for sex either. The john's families are the true victims! This is not a victimless crime!
The government has no business protecting people who are commiting illigal acts. Should our government protect gang bangers from gang activity committed against them by other gangs?
The way I see it, there are two kinds of sex workers, those who choose to be and those who are forced to be. If you choose to be a sex worker then you are choosing to committ a crime and put yourself in unneccessary danger. You take on those risks willingly. Why should my tax dollars go to protecting you from your own foolish choices? If you are forced to be a sex worker then you are being raped and that is a crime committed against you. The police and government should be protecting you and your right to free will.
Free will makes us responsible for our choices.
The unfortunate truth is legal or not the transaction of sex for money will continue. If we have the ability to help regulate or make situations better shouldn't we? If we choose to be politically correct and try to uphold good morality while humans who may not feel they have a choice about selling their bodies further deteriorate our society then what does that mean about us?.. Not every sex worker feels they have a choice. Shouldn't we a Union a Country as a whole work together to better our society we are now further away then ever from an ideal society. In a Utopian world we would not have sex for money but we do and no matter how unlawful it is we will not eradicate it. .... So we are left with the choice of continuing a loosing battle or getting a handle on it the best we can and setting parameters for the industry.
The problem is that when you accept it, you stop trying to fix the problem. Yes, money for sex will probably be with us always, but we can still decrease the percentages. Legalizing it will only increase the incidence of it, as well as the social problems that come along with it (and yes,I do believe there are social repercussions of prostitution. Just cause you don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't affect you.)
Besides which, prostituiton and sex-trafficing ARE linked, and if we stop looking for sex workers because it's legal, we'll stop finding the people who have been forced into that lifestyle.
For the people who do it because they feel that's their only option, let's do something about helping them find gainful employment. One that will bring with it some sefl-respect, security, and stability.
What is risky if it is not sex with multiple persons, or even sex with one person who has been with mulltiple sex partners?
should sex trafficking of children be a capital offence??? Sure it should.
I assume that anyone who says that sex is just like any other industry and no big deal must feel the same way about rape. After all, if sex is no big deal, then rape is no big deal, since it's just sex. At most it should be rated like giving someone a black eye (less if they used a condom). You can't have your cake and eat it too. The act either holds value, or it doesn't. Decide.
I am not a whore. I am, in fact, a retired male. However, IF Jennifer Anniston WERE to offer me money for sex and then during that sex my pants were stolen by Dick Cheney, i would want Cheney publicly hanged and not hear a lot of lectures from the police or secret service. In fact, if jennifer never makes that offer and my pants nevr get stolen, I'd still like to see Cheney hanged for war crimes. Isn't it funny where and how we choose to spend our morals? Wake up America! people are getting laid consentually for money while people are getting murdered and tortured for money / oil and where is your focus? Our culture is INSANE!
here in holland, prostituion is tolerated to the point that it has become major industry. the down side of it is that many prostitutes are here illegally, either working without a valid work permit or working for unscrupulous bosses that brought them here from former eastern bloc countries and then taking their passports away. the dutch sex workers mostly belong to a union that even insures they are regularly checked for sexually transmitted diseases. we still have rape in holland though not with such comparable numbers as say in the UK where prostituion is illegal.
Sex will be with us forever. There are those who will, inspite of the religious demonization of sex, continue to seek and those who will continue to provide, sex. Why not regulate, and tax, the services. With regulation, perhaps the instances of sexually transmitted diseases will drop, while putting money in the government coffers.
Having lived in Nevada for 24 years and never patronized a legal house of prostitution I believe legal prostitution helps keep the street walkers off the street , protects marriages , helps satisfy the crazy desires of many sex predators and decreases the spread of venereal disease. Enough said!
don't let them talk bad about mz santana although she isn't all that the best quality whores are cracked up to be...she is cheaper than the rest and although at one point I think she went limp and stopped moving, she did finish the session. Later on I think she mentioned that she did in fact have a heart attack but wanted to finish the half hour session to get her coke money. That is hard core!!! props well deserved
johnjohn, grow up. just because you don't agree with her opinion, there is no reason to personally attack her. (though isn't that what everyone claiming prostitution is bad is doing to the prostitutes, most of which aren't here to defend themselves?)..
The only way I would even be willing to entertain the notion of legalized prostitution is if all sex workers (and once again this includes porn stars and strippers) were required to sign up on a publicly available register. Yes, I said public, and once you're on, you're on for life (with the exception of being able to prove that you shouldn't have been entered in the first place).
