They should legalize it, it could be taxed like any other business, and it would be much safer. And by the way, if you legalize the drug trade and tax that too, just like cigarettes and alcohol, this country would get out of debt very quickly. And the crime rate in the inner cities would all but disappear. Then those who want to do drugs have that choice, and those who don't will have their choice, it's pretty simple. They are people who say this stuff will drive up health care, but what have we done to straiten that out. NOTHING?????????????????? (NATHAN), from NEW ORLEANS,LOUISIANA.

thank you for proving my point. all of your Great-Uncles money came breaking laws, regardless of what he was prosecuted for. how much would he have made if those things were legeal? would he have ever been more than a petty thug, almost immune to prosecution?? lets face it, laws made Al Capone what he was and protected his way of life and income for many years!

Yes, if it was regulated by the state or federal gov., it would be safer and generate revenue coz of taxes. It works out in Vegas, and some foreign countries. Loosen up people, nothing wrong with a hot bath given you by a beautiful asian chick, and wat comes after is real nice too...

Its the oldest prefession, common, how long dop have to put up with those who llok down, or don't the see the benefits of prostitution. I'm mean really it allows control and taxation and frees the police to instead focus on other ares of crime fighting. Set controls and standards and tax it, set medical standards and health standards. These people involve obiviously see this as a honest profession.
I have noticed the ones who have a problem, are usually the ones involved, who lack the guts to admit they have pertaken or are continually using the unground. Take the fun out of it by legalizing it. It makes to much sense to do, and lets leave religion behind. Most of these folks care on normal lives, when off duty you might even know so of them and would never have guessed they were involved. Enough is enough come on Obama are you a man or a mouse masquerading as a man.

very true eft. and kayletta you just made my whole argument about women and marriage the truth with your rant about marriage not having to be equal and his military pay going up when you got married

    • Posted By: Kayletta @ 12/20/2008 11:38:48 AM

I'm completely confused. I never once said marraige didnt need to be equal (in fact it does) but I did say there are more important things that money. Perhaps you disagree, but thats a different discussion altogether.

As for his income going up when we wed... that isnt why we did. We would have both been content to remain unmarried except that the military will be shipping him to another base before too much longer and I do want to go with him. If it wasnt for the military reprecussions, I really wouldnt have cared at all, nor would he have been concerned.

    Kayletta:

    Your comment:

"I believe there are more important things in this world that the almighty dollar and he agrees. " is very old-school. Let's look at it this way: Nowadays Romance without finance has no chance! If you don't believe me, the next time your light bill is due, tell the clerk where you pay "I don't have any money, but I got some love I can give you as payment" and watch how fast you are shown the door. Or go to your mortgage holder. Albeit sad, there is not a lot that you can do in this country without the almighty dollar. Not an opinion, but a statement of fact.

eft my views on a marriage or relationship is it has to be equal or one person is getting screwed and the other is doing the screwing

What we need is...check that...what i need is....what is mentioned in J.D. Robb's "futuristic" novels that mention "licensed companions" ..LC"s....I mean really who wants a woman around all the time anyway ? This is the perfect solution. Pay as the need arises in lieu of paying the price of having a woman nagging ya 24/7. I stole the idea but it's brilliant and now ya know.

lol...you're a hoot...just what women are you dating sweetie?

While I agree that sex ("slaves")workers should be tested for their own health and safety, making prostitution legal won't necessarily change that And may I remind etfonedhome that while my Great Uncle Al Capone made alot of money from selling illegal booze, he also made a boatload from illegal gambling and pimping. Ironically he was never convicted for any of those activities. Instead he went to Federal Prison for not paying Income Tax where he died from the complications of SYPHILIS !

i am so happy my wife believes a relationship has to be a equal situation but then thats probably why we have been married for almost 11 yrs now and still have a terrific relationship

If you legalise something it creates new jobs, working in this profesion requires every week testing for aproved sex, condems r a must, more police for real crimes because the Irs is controling the buisness if everything is being taxed.
If you legalize something the urge to do it will fall drasticly, lets say you legalise cocaine, people will not be more curious about the drug than when it was illegal, you don't have any more daredevils u r willing to try it because the hype will be lost.Like drugs and prostitution its for the person aged 18+ to decide wheter he will do it or not, making it illegal would only force them to do it more.
Education always starts at home and in school to educate them about the dangers of drugs, more likely at home its TABOE to talk about these subject, but if parrents would be more urged to talk to there children at a early age this behaviour will be drasticly reduced, the curiousity will die.Everything whats illegal should be told about and not hidden
    in the closeth!!!

I feel like Miss Manners...spelling counts... it is TABOO, Hon.

  • Posted By: SMART1967 @ 12/20/2008 11:23:25 AM

We're a nation of hypocrites. Legalize, tax and regulate prostitution. Makes it all safer. Plus - helps the deficite.

    • Posted By: who cares at all @ 12/20/2008 11:27:38 AM

      spelling counts...deficit...sweetie...

  • Posted By: gdccreation @ 12/20/2008 11:27:17 AM

And legalising somethings creates new jobs they all realy need in the USA!!!:)

Guy and gal meet in bar. Guy buys gal drinks in hopes of getting laid. Gal sleeps with guy in hopes of relationship. Gal gets pregnant. Guy pays for next 18 years. Gal pays for rest of her life,

Guy lets his fingures do the walking. Gal shows up at door. Guys pays for sex up front. Gal shows guy good time. Guy sleeps soundly. Gal goes shopping. Everybody's happy.

A guy who has enough respect for women to pay for her services when he has no intention of making a bigger commitment is one deserving of respect, not ridicule. Same for a woman willing to provide services for a fee without strings attached.

    cowboy2121:
No I don't make half the household imcome, I am in college working toward a degree (and no he doesnt contribute a dime toward that). Nor have I ever threatened to withhold sex or done so. In actuality, I'm usually the one pushing to get laid (my sex drive is greater than his). And to be completely honest if i was going to be with someone for the money, it wouldnt have been him. We live nicely but if money had been the issue I would've picked someone with a 6 figure income.

    • Posted By: hammerofthor @ 12/20/2008 11:10:13 AM

How do you figure he doesn't contribute a dime towards your college education? You are married, aren't you? So if you stop paying the college bills, the debt collectors won't take it from his paycheck? Of course they will. You are being disingenuous. You live off of his income, yet you insist you don't have to give him anything in return if you don't want to. That's not how it works, but keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better.

      • Posted By: Kayletta @ 12/20/2008 11:23:32 AM

That would be because there arent any college bills. Happens for intelligent people... schools and such do pay for our education.

I am confused as to why anyone cares if the person they choose to have sex with receives renumeration. I think it is pitiful to have to pay for it, but why should it be lawful to "give it away", and unlawful to receive money for it? I've been married for 25 + years, consider sex something for me too, wouldn't stay married to a man who slept w/ anyone for free or for payment, so think legalization is really no big thing. Call renumeration a "gift", pay a gift tax, and all are happy...

  • Posted By: cowboy2121 @ 12/20/2008 11:23:13 AM

eft i disagree it was because men could get what they wanted without rejection or hassle .the women were not afraid to go to police when they were assualted because what they were doing was legal as opposed to here where it is illegal

  • Posted By: etfonedhome @ 12/20/2008 11:22:38 AM

just like excessive drinking is wrong!
but making it illiegal could not stop it, it just made criminals far more powerful and rich!

  • Posted By: gdccreation @ 12/20/2008 11:21:29 AM

legalising something reduces the interest to do it , and makes it safer!!!:)

  • Posted By: etfonedhome @ 12/20/2008 11:21:06 AM

but making it illigal does NOTHING to stop it , it ONLY protcects criminals and abusers
