RMcD - "one who actually qualifies as a Christian, which Warren does not"
Are you qualified to judge who is and is not a Christian? You have no idea if they have given their heart to God. Can you judge evil - sure it's all in the Bible. You cannot judge the heart of someone. Especially someone you have not met and spent time with. It would be like me making an assumption that you are a militant gay deviant who molests small animals. I have no idea, actually I am pretty sure that's not the case...but still why would I guess what you are by a few words, without knowing you.

I certainly hope you are willing to put the same litmus test to Rick Warren who has determined that the president of Iran is evil and as such, this nation has a right, and perhaps even a moral obligation to assassinate him.

a man who believes he has the right or the ability to decide that murdering someone is hardly worthy of speaking for the country as a whole even symbolically. But this is all part of a much larger pattern of Warren's ability to "discern" who is spiritually and morally fit, and whose salvation is complete, and who is 'worthy'.

I agree with Crain completely, who cares who opens and who closes in prayer? They aren't my spiritual leaders. As a conservative Christian should I be protesting the pastor who is closing in prayer because we disagree theologically? I admire the fact that Obama is trying to be inclusive of all and I didn't even vote for him. I probably won't agree with him over a lot of other issues in the future, but atleast he doesn't exclude because of a difference of belief. As far as gay supporters turning against him now, great, maybe that will help us get a republican back in office in 4 years rather than 8. I welcome your divisiveness.

I seem to remember something with regard to the separation of church and state back in high school history class. So, I suppose that would pretty much make any references to the bible and God irrelevent. Therefore, his fat-ass opinion is irrelevent as well. Even though his views are irrelevent, if he wants to throw religion into the cauldron, it should be noted that not everyone uses the same bible as he does. And in the cases where someone is an atheist, nothing about any religion is relevent. What makes him the last word on anything? Instead of telling everone why they are wrong and that he is correct, maybe he should focus on other things like perhaps the seven deadly sins. Yea, there's this one about Gluttony that he could spend at least a year giving himself an intervention.

Given his shameful and discriminatory choice to lead our country in prayer on a day that is supposed to be "transformational," I would like my numerous, hard-earned contributions to Obama back - on the basis of false advertising - and I would also like to be paid a significant hourly rate for the time I spent campaigning for him. That would make us financially even, and I would be glad to spend that money fighting to have the Florida and Michigan primaries count - at least with Hillary, "what you see is what you get" - Obama was apparently "all talk, no walk.". Considering that most of the 10% of Americans who are gay voted for him, and many of us worked to get him elected, I think he stole our votes - and I for one will not support him any longer unless he recinds his faithless Warren decision or at the very least has a "co-Invocationist" - one who actually qualifies as a Christian, which Warren does not. As to Obama, I am sorry that he did not mean "change" for gay people - but rather only for racial minorities - his inauguration will be just one more day when we get a new president who does not support equality for all Americans - so while he is engaging in proud celebration, all the millions of gay Americans can explain to our children that despite his promises, he is not truly interested in representing us, but just said whatever he thought would get him elected. For at least one more term we will continue to experience taxation without representation. My only solace is that Warren will never make it to Heaven - he denies God's own proclamation that we are ALL made in God's image - what prideful hubris to imagine that he could know what that image is!

Interesting dialog - Crain is talking out of his ass though. Not sure how he so wilfully suspends disbelief and reports it as fact - whether on what Warren really said about civil unions, the direct comparison of gay relationships with child abuse and incest, the sheer disregard for any core humanity of gay people.

Leah, I commend you for your patience here with Chris. While he thinks it is wonderful to want to "engage" with those who disagree with us, how can you create any type of dialog with someone who is convinced you don't actually exist? Do you keep talking to them anyway, even though they walk all over you because they don't even see you? Where has this gotten anyone so far. You have to start with a minimum circle of recognition and expand it from there - it seems that Pastor Rick is comfortable staying far outside that circle, however

Inviting Warren will not advance dialogue -- this is not a seminar. Instead he is giving a prized spot ont he most important day of his life to a man who has worked diligently to deprive people like my son and millions of others of basic civil rights and equal protection of the laws which the California Supreme Court determined were guaranteed to them under the State Constitution. Our President-Elect, for whom I have worked tirelessly, and donated more than I could afford, now is rewarding a man who has used the political process to deprive people of rights because of their genetic makeup. Being gay is no more a choice than being black. Maybe our President-Elect needs some education. But i'm done. My heart is broken. I hope those who have donated to the Presidential Inauguration Committee will ask for their money back in protest. Whether this was done out of stupidity or carelessness or indifference, it doesn't matter, unless it is undone. And only you, Mr. President-Elect, can do that. Ask Rick Warren to decline the invitation for the good of this country.
