Nagberi. Obama you have not only made Dr Martin Luther King Jr 's dream a reality but have also shown the world that America is a country that really recognize democracy and freedom for everyone no matter your race, religion or culture. The road to recovery is long and together we will make. God bless America.

Will he be a fox or a lion? Sometimes a leader's "charisma" can also be his downfall...

  • Posted By: pgadia @ 01/12/2009 12:17:54 AM

Charisma is not a factor in world event but can be a smoke screen from someone who don't have the heart to lead. Our world leaders must have the hearts to care and compassion to help, instead of just being a leader and be part of the world elite. The world needs someone who can strech their hands to help and have the conviction to lead us to into a better future. Politicians pick their straws that can help them win more votes for the next election and charisma can be a help to be voted again, but a true leader is evident from the good conviction of the heart.

Congrats to Barack and Michelle along with the kids. Take time to enjoy the freedom, each other, and family while you can because on Jan 20, 2009 your life is no longer yours its the American People's. Be clear I wish you and Michelle and the kids the best of what this life will bring all of you. I will be keeping up with you Barack because your the President of the United States. The leader of the free world and with that comes a responsibility that cannot be matched by anyone else in this world. I expect you to govern from the middle left and not get too caught up on the middle right politics which will only play into the Republicans hand to force you into decisions your not willing to make. I do expect you to follow through with some of the campaign wishes you made not all of them simply because the country is off in the wrong direction thanks to a poor, poor and stupid man name George Bush. He is just like his father the only difference the father has brains. How unfortunate the American people voted for him twice bad enough once. Well with the stock market,. and financial markets and insurance markets going south we now know that Bush was steep at the wheel. The problems we will have to endure because America voted for the wrong man in Bush. This will be very challenging for you Barack. However, I am praying for you and Michelle to get through your first of (4) years and get through the problems you will have with the people in Congress and Senate. I will be watching you as well because I will hold you accountable just like any other voter. Since am a Independent we watch what is really happening as opposed to what the media tells us. Be prayerful and understand that God will take you through and bring you out.

You sir have no common sense this country is a constitutional republic and you socialist lefts need to shut up. this country is based on a middle right constitution and that is the only way for this country to flourish. We need to reduce the size of the federal government not increase. We also need to reduce federal spending not increase. The individual states are sovereign entities and they need to strengthen in that respect not make a stronger federal government. One of the smartest things the states could do right now is to each individually create their own gold and silver coins and go back to a gold standard according to the constitution this is legal and it would cause competition against the central bank and this would save our economy. I would hope it would also cause the elimination of the federal reserve act. Wake up people its time we started to take our country back.

      • Posted By: chedet @ 12/21/2008 5:06:44 AM

You sir are more ignorant and clueless. Do you have any idea what socialism even mean? Or do you know the reason why there are only one currency instead of 50 different currencies? Do you know the impact it'll have on this country? You might as well have 50 different countries and not have one United States of America. Do you think the world would want to trade with a country with so many currencies? You sir have a lot of reading to do.

The only way to straighten out our political system and to insure that candidates/elected officials are responsibly motivated to equitably and honestly represent the majority of their constituents is to take the power and influence out of the hands of the few and make the politicians dependent on the peoples??? voting without allowing manipulation by subterfuge and by those with power. The only way to accomplish that goal is to first stop money from being the controlling factor and then to increase the regulations, enforcement and penalties governing campaigning and in-office performances. The following policies could be considered for achieving those desired results.
??? To minimize the influence and power of money:
    1. Have a drastically restrictive cap on what they can spend, with government providing equal allowances for each candidate.
    2. Prohibit candidates/elected officials from ever advertising and/or making exhibitive promotions/statements for political purposes.
    3. Prohibit candidates/elected officials from advertising and/or making statements about their opponents and/or their opponents positions, forcing them to concentrate and focus on presenting their own positions/qualifications.
    4. Have a reasonable, by given office, number of equitably objective, rational and unbiased debates.
    5. Require all third parties to register and adhere to rules prohibiting their representing/attacking any candidate, either directly or indirectly, and allow only their stating of their support/criticism and reasoning regarding their given positions on the issues.
    6. Under penalty of fine and even loss of license require all media to provide equal time and objective, unbiased and non-slanted reporting.
    7. Provide both internet and printed reporting, listed by office, with reports honestly listing each candidate???s bio (all inclusive personal, family, religious, educational, career, voting record,,,,), their stated positions of adequate but limited length on all positions which are determined to be of current interest and lastly, a longer statement by the candidate detailing what they think is their qualifications and values (all without directly or indirectly referencing their competition or their competition???s positions). These reports would be made available by request, general publication and by direct mail without any bias in availability or access.
    (continuing below)

Ah yes, more regulations on top of the mountains we have now. Why do the sheep think that adding more of the problem will help solve the problem?

    • Posted By: NewsWkDickG @ 01/02/2009 9:23:48 PM

      (continuing)

??? To increase the regulations, enforcement and penalties governing campaigning and in-office performance:
      1. Create a non-partisan judicial department charged with the responsibility to identify and prosecute violations of the rules.
      2. Increase the penalties incurred by those found guilty of violations and to include possible disqualification, heavy fines and imprisonment.
      3. Insure that identifying and proceeding to the prosecution of violators the enforcers are not unduly handicapped with restrictive requirements.
      4.

While these suggestions are likely not complete or fool proof they do point out a direction and a hope to accomplish desirable goals. Once the money and the influence of a powerful few is checked it would allow for the development of other political parties representing more of the interests of all of the people and then realizing the need for developing coalitions and for compromise and thus generating a more moderate government, neither being extreme right nor extreme left, and rather more fairly representing all of the people. This really represents the change we drastically need instead of having the pendulum constantly swing back and forth to both extremes and constantly only focused on benefit for a few. To ignore the reality of all of this is to condone and perpetuate the continuance of the problems.

THE PERFECT DESIGN by SANCHEZ M GARDNER

MR. OBAMA, WHEN MARTIN HAD A DREAM, HE SAW A VISION OF YOU.

FOR MANY PEOPLE,YOU REPRESENT A DREAM THAT FINALLY CAME TRUE.

WHAT YOU ARE DOING NOW,YEARS AGO SEEMED SO FAR FETCHED

HOWEVER, BEFORE YOU CAME INTO THE WORLD, YOU WERE GIVEN A SKETCH,

A BLUEPRINT PERFECTLY DESIGNED AND COMPLETE.

THE OTHER CANDIDATES WERE WASTING THEIR TIME, AGAINST THE HEAVENLY FATHER, NO MORTAL CAN COMPETE.

YOU WERE GIVEN A PLAN THAT MANY SO-CALLED LEADERS AND EMPERORS HAVE KILLED FOR HOWEVER,

NONE WERE ACTUALLY GIVEN THE KEY TO ENTER THE DOOR.

PAYING CLOSE ATTENTION WHEN YOU SPEAK, THERE'S A SPECIAL GLOW,

HOW CAN YOU TRICK A SPIRIT WITH A QUESTION THEY ALREADY KNOW?

YOUR MANNERISM IS SO HUMBLE,POISED AND BOLD,

I OFTEN WANDER IS IT YOU OR HAS AN ANGEL TAKEN OVER YOUR SOUL?

I AM VERY PROUD OF YOU BECAUSE WHAT LIES WITHIN,

WHENEVER I HUGGED MY GRANDMOTHER, I TOUCHED AN ANGEL,

IF I EVER SHAKE YOUR HAND, I'LL BE DOING IT AGAIN!!!!!!

Just to kind of make a synopsis of the last million comments such I first read this a while back:

Obama won mostly because he offered what is perceived to be a "new" agenda. It's not new, but is of course a basic Left wing agenda of more government, fewer individual rights, and a general idea of a single, charismatic man taking the reins and saving us.

McCain lost because his own ideology was too scattered. Regardless of whether or not he was right or wrong, or whether Obama is right or wrong, he is still largely without a clear ideological identity.

Obama's identity was very clear inasmuch that he was promising in a vague but reassuring way that the government - with all of its trillions of dollars and unprecedented state power - was going to come to the rescue with his great charismatic leadership to ensure that nothing got off track.

More to the specific point of Obama and capitalism - to say that capitalism is dead is absurd.

Such notions are overly simple, and those that make such arguments are either fools or liars. Mr. Zakaria is a character in an Ayn Rand novel, pulling the strings to influence us for our own good so that we might get in line with his Great Man religion of state control.

Except for the ???left wing??? part, you???ve just described G. W. Bush, who was second only to Jesus in the right wing pantheon. He???s also increased the size of government more than any Democratic president has done in recent decades.

"Carefully retreating from these obligations to restore a market economy"? While I certainly hope that Mr. Obama will fulfill your expectations, I highly doubt that he will. Mr. Obama has stated on many occasions that he is very much against the market economy. We have chosen a socialist to repair capitalism, and I fear that he will choose to destroy it instead.

    • Posted By: Spacer @ 01/01/2009 11:15:15 AM

???Mr. Obama has stated on many occasions that he is very much against the market economy.???

Absolute rubbish. Obama has never stated any such thing. What Obama _is_ opposed to is the unreguilated, lawless, and predatory capitalism that has grown like a cancer under Bush and that has brought the worst economic disaster since the Great Depression.

      • Posted By: Bill Smith @ 01/04/2009 10:40:56 AM

Amerika does not have any form of capitalism. Only sheep think our economy is not heavily regulated. There has never been a real free-market in Amerika yet the sheep continue to bleat and blame it when the real evil comes out of DC and every state capital.

Well in addition to your trolling in your first post to me today, before I got on, you continue to lie.

My reference to wife beating was in response to your question whether I would continue porno. Anyone with have a brain can see the meaning of my statement that I would stop that right after I stop beating my wife... It was the form of the question that prompted my use of that common response to those kinds of questions.

"As for Pia, your porno reference was infinitely more tasteless than anything I wrote."

Actually, you introduced Pia Zadora by calling Pia that, implying it was a compliment. She obviously did not know to what you were referring when you applied that to her. You said it was the first thing you thought of when you saw here name. Then you refer to some posts that are nearly two months old.

I indicated in a post to Pia that I did know what you meant by referring to one of Zadora's movies, and I told Pia she is way too classy for that name.

When you lie, people can go back and look at your posts here.

Yes, and I can see how you have tried to 'work' Pia here. Are you proud?

    • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/31/2008 12:29:53 PM

I'm sorry ...mud on my face. When you said you'd give up porno after beating your wife what
you REALLY meant to say is you'd give up porno after beating your wife. Got it..mea culpa.

Yes you are correct. I did mention Pia Zadora. YOU were the one that introduced the Butterfly
reference. Actually Pia Zadora had/has a varied music and film career. It is interesting you brought
up that one particular picture. You've got a dirty mind dude. Once again, I beg your forgiveness.

Finally, if people want to search the archives on this stupid thread and ferret out my 'lies' then
so be it. The only problem is they'll have to wade through all our doggerel. I'm truly flattered if anyone
is interested enough in my inane comments and childish antics to search for such things. My guess
is that only dullards like 'you know who' would attempt such a feat.

      • Posted By: 40YearR @ 12/31/2008 1:30:00 PM

I am close to accepting your apology. Let's address several things.

You called Pia, Pia Zadora after two days of numerous posts to her like "cleanup on aisle 5", "I feel like I just had a full body cleanout, if you catch my drift...", and numerous similar others. I knew that Pia would not know, but you obviously have been following each of us around for months. No informed person would not infer that your application of that name to Pia was in the same context of your numerous highly sexually charged statements to her.

I mentioned only the title of the only movie of Zadora's I've seen; I said nothing about it's content. (Meaning, don't just take my word on this, I saw this movie.) I do recall that at the time of her career she was a very popular nude model and sex pinup. Pia accepted my suggestion only that she is too classy for that name, and I believe she still would if she knew what I know.

In my book, you owe Pia an apology for quite a few things. She is kind, forgiving, and prefers to move on. She tried several times yesterday to establish boundaries with you. You should respect them. If you do not, you do not deserve respect or even courtesy.

About lies. I worked in a field where lies were a common weapon. They cost my clients much grief, stress and heartache. The best recovery never 'unrings the bell'. It is a principle to run down anyone who lies to me and especially about me. It is the only way I know how to discourage it generally or about me. I am always serious about lies and liars. There is nothing funny generally, nor when they are applied to me. You need to respect that about me, or the consequences. Your choice.

As a novice here at NW I made some posts about two months ago that if I had known better, and I suppose I should have, I would not have made. There was nothing explicit. Some were sensual and suggestive. Not anything like your numerous posts over the last two days, not even close. I regret that I made them, as innocent and vanilla as I see them, but I have uniformly respected the preferences of others (notwithstanding their high tolerance for racism and hate, which are far worse in my view, but I respect their boundaries.) The fact that you threaten and taunt me about those things of two months ago, especially considering your own posts, is something you should reconsider and stop. I will not be blackmailed or taunted over something so slight so long ago, especially in the current context. I have not made any kind of such post since. You should not either, but in all events, stay off my back about such old material.

Your gall allows you to say I have a 'dirty mind'. I have not even made even a sensual post for two months. I have never, and never would have, made the kinds of posts you have made the last two days.

So, apologize to Pia, stop threatening me or trying to blackmail me or whatever you think you're doing, respect my boundaries and hers, and we might even

I agree - you've already revealed a little TOO MUCH about yourself here - wink, wink. Btw, why are you always in such a foul mood? You were a real grouch yesterday - not to mention a major poopie head.... I forgive you though.

                  • Posted By: 40YearR @ 12/31/2008 11:16:09 AM

Others have already revealed you as a troll. Perhaps you revel in that too. More distorted behavior. You need to stop that.

I was in a terrific mood Monday and tried to tell you several times I didn't want argue with you, but you persisted with your infantile insults even after I left just to have a day free of you and your problems.

Yesterday I was in a terrific mood too despite...lies...plagarism...multiple personal insults... crass talk way beyond every barrier of decency to a lady....outrageous comments about religious ministers...a mean a racist response to an announced black who just wanted to say he was happy that Obama won...what I consider a racist and defensive 'perspective' on why Obama won....

And you want people to like you, right? Can't figure it out? You felt people were mean to you right? Only a four year old adopts such poses when they do the things you do.

I am happy all the time. I have standards, though. You should respect my boundaries as well as Pia's- she's told you several times. Do not expect praise for your juvenile, and worse, antics, and do not expect to be accomodated while you try to threaten me. There are many I get along with here, and there are those with whom I have argued in the past, and we no longer do. Shanshayla was an example yesterday. You can have it either way you want it, but in my book you have a long way to go, and I have seen no evidence you are capable of it. You can apologize for involving yourself in my personal business. You introduced that yesterday, and have continued it today. You also can apologize to Pia. She deserves more respect than you have given her.

Rode my bicycle a fast hard 20 miles this morning and am floating on endorphins which are the best natural mood elevators. Ready to go after a quick shower. Let's see if you want to be a troll today, or worse, and how much you will whine and consider yourself a victim...

                    • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/31/2008 11:44:04 AM

Whew. You told me, didn't you? May I be serious for a moment playboy? I think we both know that, of the two of us, you have WAY more problems than I. Anyone making jokes about wife beating is a pretty sick puppy in my book. As for Pia, your porno reference was infinitely more tasteless than anything I wrote. She's young and impressionable and seems to look up to you for some unknown reason. I know your game friend. I've seen the way you've "worked her" on this board - so please spare me your moral outrage.
As for the religiously bigoted comments. What you see with me is what you get. I don't go on here and preach morality and then turn around and act like a cad when no one is looking. Can you say the same? As for the "racist" comment - I wonder how you'd feel if I got on here and proclaimed that "I'm so proud a white man is president."? I have a feeling you might have something to say. As for my political persperctive, I stand by my conviction that a major contributing factor in O's victory was race. The only factor? Hardly. A crucial factor none the less. If you want to call that racism, then so be it.
Finally, is your life really so pathetic that you'd let a goof ball like me on some stupid internet forum affect your day? You're obviously a very angy individual that takes themselves way too seriously. I've read many of your posts here and you seem to like to "goof on" and bully others with your snide comments. I'm proud he was elected in spite of his color. I trust you will now question those who express prejudice against his color...you being so vigilant and full of his integrity and all...

        • Posted By: Hatshepsut @ 12/30/2008 4:29:34 PM

You do realize that he is just as much white as black. He was raised by a white family and went to elite, private schools. I hardly think he represents the black majority in this country.

          • Posted By: 40YearR @ 12/30/2008 4:40:48 PM

How could I not know that? Here's where you really, really blew this one. The point is that the majority of the electorate elected this man "in spite" of his color, and in spite of the prejudice, biggotry and racism that is still so pathetically present in this country and on these sites. Get it now? But wait a minute, might I surmise that you did not vote for him? If that's the case, you don't get much do you?

            • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/30/2008 4:46:19 PM

Yep..you're repeating yourself. Pete pete and repeat. We know you think this way. My assertion is that he was elected in LARGE part because of his race and the desire for people to be post-racial. Your move. I call check...mate?

              • Posted By: TruthForward @ 12/31/2008 9:06:19 AM

Was he elected because of his race?.. Suddenly, white citizenry wanted a black president. Suddenly, wanted to be post racial. Why now?

Or was he elected in spite of his race?.. Suddenly, some of the white citizenry did not care about race because of other problems this country faces. Yes, this is the answer to the riddle.

                • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/31/2008 9:33:50 AM

Maybe a little of both. My assertion is it's more the former than the latter. I base that opinion on having talked with many O supporters about their choice. I oftern heard these people saying they wanted to 'send a message' that American is open-minded enough to elect a black man president . That seemed to be a consistent theme - especially amongst whites.

                  • Posted By: TruthForward @ 12/31/2008 10:25:06 AM

But why now? It's because of the conditions of the country.

                    • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/31/2008 10:33:22 AM

That is a valid point. Be that as it may, my opinion is that his race helped him get elected - it was not a hindrance. Is the race the ONLY reason? No, but it was definitely a critical factor.

Hey Sweet Pea! Good point. I do agree there were some who voted AGAINST O because of his race. My opinion is that there were many, many more who internalized race as a reason to vote FOR him.

You're entitled to your opinion. However, I don't think many of O's supporters had the slightest idea what his platform entailed. I would also say the same thing about McCain backers. Many people make voting decisions based on emotion rather than logic.

Tell us mr. clever racist.... man (to be euphamistic), if he got elected because of his color, then why did Hillary have such a big lead over Obama with nonwhite voters?

            • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/30/2008 4:54:23 PM

Depends porn boy (euphemistically speaking). By the end of the campaign O was attracting over 90% of the black vote. That's another red herring of yours..nice try. What I am referring to is the 40% of the white vote he garnered. My OPINION is that the vast majority of these white voters were trying to be post-racial and had a guilty conscience. In other words they voted for O primarily because of his skin color. That and the overwhelming minority support propelled him over the top. Ergo, his color was a NET ASSET and not a NET LIABILITY and was a crucial factor in him being elected. Your assertion that he was elected in spite of his race is therefore refutable.

A red herring includes when someone changes the subject to avoid the point. I'll ask again, if blacks only made their decisions based on color, then why did Hillary have such a big lead over him with blacks?

"My OPINION is that the vast majority of these white voters were trying to be post-racial and had a guilty conscience. In other words they voted for O primarily because of his skin color."

This is called projection. Yeh, let me see if I can follow you here.... The deciding factor in this election was that white people voted for Obama because they had guilty consciences..... Fine piece of analysis... I suggest that is revealing, but not of what you think....

                • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/30/2008 5:31:17 PM

Nope..red herring is attempting to obfuscate the point with static. You're talking opinion polls and I'm speaking of how people actually voted. In the primaries, caucuses etc. Obama attracted the overwhelming majority of the black vote. It was crucial to his victory in many states. Therefore your assertion is a non-starter. Obama won the black vote with both Hillary and McCain. The guilty white vote came into play in both the primaries and general election. Not the ONLY reason O won but a major factor IMO.

40 I will give O props for being honest about this subject. I saw an interview on 60 minutes where he was asked about the race issue. He shrugged and said there were probably just as many as many people voting for him because of skin color as opposed to against. If he can admit this why is it so hard for you? Not saying he's not charismatic and intelliegent or and a campaigner..just thems the break.

Judging by the way she keeps lurking around I must be doing something right.

Well all things considered, you really messing up and all, I'd say you're doing about as well as you were doing when I first said it. Frankly, I haven't seen anyone mess up so spectacularly in a very long time. Bravo!

PB- I never lurk. I visit. I have been doing that since joining almost a year ago. I come to visit with my fellow Obama supporters..such as Repssuck-40YearR, Harley-sjpersonal-kboogie-tired and old-olderwiser and many others. These are the good people. Honest, loyal, and supportive.

I understand. I too often sulk after getting out-debated. Don't worry, it happens to the best- or in your case, worst - of us. Keep smiling. I'm sure everyone enjoys seeing those espresso-stained chompers of yours.

Fair enough. Just don't get too hooked. I don't want to see you or 40 on with Dr. Drew or Dr. Phil.

    10-4 40, Have a great New Year.

  • Posted By: Repubssuck @ 12/30/2008 6:01:04 PM

Barack will take office in a few weeks and start to right the wrongs of Bush/Cheney. A lot of lessons were learned in this past election year. We learned that hate didn't win and won't ever win again. What have we Democrats learned from the mouth-breather from the GOP party of hate? will we defend the President right or wrong. I personally will not defend any wrong doing by using the excuse that George Bush did it. The Republicans used even Jimmy Carter to justify Bush and Cheney's misdeeds. If it's wrong it's wrong. Let's not stoop to the level of our bottom feeding counterparts. Let's continue to use their hate against as Barack did in the campaign. In 2010 a few more GOP Senates will come our way and in 2012 a butt kicking that will make this years rout look like a sudden death overtime.

Off to south Beach for 2 days. Oh, to be 25 years old again. Happy New Years to all.

I'm thinking that at 25, you must have been right in the middle of the greatest time in history!!!

      Have a good one!
