Truthfoward, maybe a better question would be should past presidents be lumped together in a single sentence? Should Bill Clinton's loose sexual conduct be mentioned in the same breath as George Bush' evil deeds? Bush may not have been involved in a sexual scandal but he did, along with Cheney, rumsfield and Rice, manufacture false evidence that directly caused the deaths of more than 4000 Brave young Service women and Men.

It's not the same. But I think we are starting something new and great. Go Obama!

    • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/29/2008 5:06:49 PM

Yep, other than roasting some Serbs, destroying aspirin factories and treating Somalia like a Rambo training film I guess Slick Willy does look pretty good in comparison. Oh yeah, and those poor deluded Dems (incoming Sec'y of State included) who voted for the war were just misinformed....AWESOME...I feel better now.

      • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 12/29/2008 5:21:02 PM

You should not call any president past names. It is disrespectful.

        • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/29/2008 5:25:37 PM

Agreed. From now on I will refer to Slick WIlly as the HONORABLE WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON. I apologize for my lapse in protocol.

    • Posted By: 40YearR @ 12/29/2008 4:54:19 PM

I agree with you on all that R, but I also believe that many of those would not have been lost had he listened to the military and diplomatic advisers. Maybe I'm just wishing here, having been for that invasion, without believing the 'reasons' given. I've certainly grown to regret that invasion now.

Everyone-please excuse pbpace's rude and offensive behavior to several posters on this article. He couldn't help himself.....you see, he has been hitting the ...... again. I know, it is a bit too early for that but he got a head start since the New Year celebration is coming up.

    • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/29/2008 12:26:13 PM

Yep...my philosophy is: it's always happy hour somewhere in the world so why wait for my time zone?

      • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 12/29/2008 12:29:32 PM

Lots of black coffee and don't go out.

        • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/29/2008 12:38:05 PM

The scary thing is I'm stone-cold sober right now. When I get a little tipsy I could give Al Franken a run for his money.

          • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 12/29/2008 12:58:49 PM

I could give Al a run for his money. You run along now..be good.

            • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/29/2008 1:06:51 PM

Will you promise to baby sit me later if I get out of line?

              • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 12/29/2008 1:11:27 PM

                1) I never promise 2) you've been out of line all day here. Your behavior has been atrocious but I have it under control now.

                • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/29/2008 1:15:24 PM

Ok...adios....a man can always dream. Will check back manana..for real this time.

                    • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/29/2008 3:30:09 PM

Manana is a Gaelic word that means 'in about an hour'..you can wiki it.

                      • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 12/29/2008 5:25:59 PM

Gaelic? Nah. Sounds Espanol to me.

Happy New Years Pia, 40, Harley, Dave and everyone else. It's going to be a great year for the country. Let's all throw a shoe when the Big Apple drops.

I thought you left the scene of the crime? I understand you are lonely....try the Soaps. Works for me when I'm home from work sick...except watching that nonsense makes me sicker.

This might be vaguely amusing if it were written coherently? AD/HD in the house?

      • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 12/29/2008 12:18:14 PM

AD/HD seems to be in your house.

I don't know this DJ. Where is he? I do however know you..sportie9! I know it's you sportlock. As for me being sour, wrong..I'm usually cheerful.

Come on...let me see that smile...you know you want to. Why fight the laughter?

pb- I laugh all the time. Are you admitting you are sportock9? Why change username?

  • Posted By: TruthForward @ 12/29/2008 9:43:13 AM

    @Bill Smith...

What do you think we should do for the seniors? Let them paint your toe nails, for $1.50 per toe? That's capitalism. lol

    • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/29/2008 10:55:07 AM

I hate to break this to you, but if the sh*t hits the proverbial fan you're going to have to do a LOT more than just paint their toe nails!?! Ugh!?!

      • Posted By: TruthForward @ 12/29/2008 2:00:33 PM

Phpace, this is America. Now what do you think seniors are going to have to do?

        • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/29/2008 2:56:24 PM

Dude, you got it all wrong. The old foagies will have the dough. You're going to be the broke one. Use your imagination - just a hint - don't bend over too far.

      • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 12/29/2008 12:11:53 PM

Aside from me, I doubt anyone here is going to reply to any of your rude comments. I suggest you apologize or leave.

        • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/29/2008 12:22:49 PM

Rude?...nope. Just my prediction. Was that polite enough for you? May I come back into the tree house now?

          • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 12/29/2008 12:27:29 PM

I don't have time to babysit the children today. Perhaps some other time? Bye bye and Happy New Year pbpace! I hope you have a new year's resolution.

                    That explains it. Phew!

    • Posted By: Bill Smith @ 12/29/2008 9:48:03 AM

In a free country, people would be responsible for their own retirement and would not be living off money stolen from others.

  • Posted By: Repubssuck @ 12/29/2008 12:45:23 PM

pbpace, I think your humor deserves a 9 out of 10. What i'm most impressed with though, is your modesty.

    • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/29/2008 2:53:21 PM

I often get that...thanks for the honesty.

    • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 12/29/2008 12:55:53 PM

Modesty is a virtue. Hi R and a very Happy New Year to you and bella and your family!

  • Posted By: Repubssuck @ 12/29/2008 2:03:14 PM

Thank pbpace, the spelling won't improve. I thought it was cheap and weak to point out spelling errors. Only a few mouth-breathers and neophytes seem to do it. Most of us can understand the content. A guy as funny as Al Franken shouldn't have to struggle.

    • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/29/2008 2:52:49 PM

Wait, I thought the lower the blow and the cheaper the invective the better. Isn't this the cyber equivalent of a frat house? Damn!?! I'm on the wrong site. Oh well, I guess even I, with my Frankenesque wit, can have comprehension-deprived moments. I'll try to model myself after you from now on.

  • Posted By: Open for growth @ 12/28/2008 6:50:08 PM

LOL putting the SS money in the Stock Market...Can my grandmother come live with you??

    • Posted By: Bill Smith @ 12/29/2008 9:13:56 AM

Socialist Security is just another Ponzi scheme. People go to jail for trying to do the same thing. People should be responsible for their own retirement. The government has no right to steal money from people to put in some mythical fund.

      • Posted By: Horrible Bastard @ 12/29/2008 9:25:06 AM

Yes, and we all see how private investment is working out, right?

        • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/29/2008 9:56:24 AM

Yep HB, that's right. Let's just ditch this capitalism thing and go back to our 5 year plans...we all know how well that worked out...right? ..or maybe we could have a Great Leap Forward...yeah mate, that's the ticket!

          • Posted By: Horrible Bastard @ 12/29/2008 1:27:13 PM

No, mate, perhaps you should simply invest in AIG. Let us know how that works out, hmm?

            • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/29/2008 2:46:54 PM

I'm hurt. I am trying to build on the ground breaking theses you've submitted here. You don't like my 5 year plan idea?...how 'bout this Great Leap forward thingee...or maybe some good old fashioned Pol Pot style central planning, liquidate the intelligentsia, Maoist utopianism?

          • Posted By: Bill Smith @ 12/29/2008 10:08:22 AM

Capitalism? What country has capitalism? If you are referring to Amerika, it has a heavily regulated and taxed market.

        • Posted By: Bill Smith @ 12/29/2008 9:44:20 AM

Better than the state stealing my money. I don't invest in the stock market anyway. I invest in tangibles. I would invest even more if the government did not steal money from me.

          • Posted By: Horrible Bastard @ 12/29/2008 1:28:36 PM

Taxation is one power granted to your government by your constitution.

How is that "theft". Theft implies the illegal taking of property. Taxation is legal. Besides, without taxation, how could you Yanks afford your current holy wars?

            • Posted By: Bill Smith @ 12/29/2008 1:50:35 PM

If wealth is taken from someone by force or threat of force it is theft. Calling theft taxation, emanate domain, or asset forfeiture does not change the meaning no mater what some piece of parchment says that I never signed nor agreed to anyway. Giving something voluntarily does not constitute theft. By the way, I???m not a damn yank and I don???t support theft for anything, including holy wars.

              • Posted By: TruthForward @ 12/29/2008 2:05:31 PM

                @ BS (Bill Smith) ..
If you are unhappy with the laws here, you are free to go.

                • Posted By: Bill Smith @ 12/29/2008 2:08:02 PM

Now that is a typical "right wing" response, the old "Love theft, or leave the country".

                  • Posted By: TruthForward @ 12/29/2008 2:16:56 PM

If you are not willing to leave, then you may enter the political arena. But keep in mind that your opponents will fight back.

                    • Posted By: Bill Smith @ 12/29/2008 2:21:44 PM

Of course the parasites will fight back. I???m just going to wait until the super world wide depression and sit back and watch the parasites like you fee off each other.

                  • Posted By: TruthForward @ 12/29/2008 2:14:48 PM

                      And that matter how?

    • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/29/2008 10:51:02 AM

Nope Einstein. She's going to be living with you anyway...unless you kick her to the curb or an old folks' home. SS is going broke regardless of whether it's invested in the stock market or not. You do realize someone has to pay for this right? I know you young, gullible kids think the govt. can keep the printing presses churning out the monopoly money we know as fiat currency. But, see junior, there does have to be some wealth or tangible commodities to back up the play money. Please tell grannie to start hoarding the gold coins.
Now why don't go back to the basement and play with that new Xbox mommy and daddy bought you for Christmas?!?

  • Posted By: Repubssuck @ 12/29/2008 2:18:29 PM

Bill, who cares what Republicans want. They no longer have a voice in this country. They're all rolled up in the fetal position listening to ole rushbo.

    • Posted By: Bill Smith @ 12/29/2008 2:25:27 PM

Since when do I care what they want?

  • Posted By: Repubssuck @ 12/29/2008 2:13:56 PM

Bill smith, I get it! We all get it! We're not free and the government steals our moola. Why come here to vent? You're certainly welcome but don't you get a little tired of whining about something that will never change?

    • Posted By: Bill Smith @ 12/29/2008 2:19:03 PM

I???m not whining about anything, just pointing out hypocrisy.

It will not change unless people stop believing they are entitled to other people???s wealth. Only evil people with no morals think they are entitled to other peoples??? things.

  • Posted By: TruthForward @ 12/29/2008 2:09:21 PM

Well, at least you Republicans are now admitting to your true intentions.
    - You want to do away with SS.
    - And so what if this negatively affect seniors.

    • Posted By: Bill Smith @ 12/29/2008 2:15:16 PM

Repuglicans have no desire whatsoever to do away with theft.

  • Posted By: TruthForward @ 12/29/2008 2:12:46 PM

I feel as though we are all sitting around waiting on Obama-nomics. I hope we all cooperate.

Then you're resourceful too! Glad you had a good time! Sunday night, some dear friends, including that lifelong bicycle buddy stopped by on their way home from skiing Tahoe Sunday night. (I don't do that anymore. Nine knee operations, two artificial ligaments. I know I could but my knee is too important and functional now to risk a freak accident.) We had a grand time! It is the season for it!

I'm sorry you couldnt go skiing because of knee problems....perhaps you could go anyway and not ski? Hang out at the lodge and enjoy the fire and festivities?

I NEVER could resist skiing with them! I love it too much. It is hard enough to not ski when I only live 60 miIes from some of the best skiing in the Sierras, as 'good' as is Sierra cement is. I have lots of activities that are fulfilling and good for me. I'm better off excercising risk avoidance on skiing. I'm too much of a go for it guy for my own good, and they don't exactly ski the small hills.

They are spectacular, but not nearly the most spectacular. I get up to see them in snow, but I always leave my skis home. I see a whole lot of the beauty riding my bicycle over the big passes, and see much more pristine beauty backpacking and hiking there.

                        • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 12/23/2008 11:02:03 PM

People are awed for good reasons, but there are much more awe inspiring. Maybe the Alps overall, winter and summer, from the tops. The Grand Tetons are to be seen. But there is a place in the Wind River Range about two hours drive from there, and three days hike in called the Cirque of the Towers. It's a valley about 10 miles long that one whole side of it that is an unbroken line of ten or so peaks above 14,000' and just as many over 13000. As awe inspiring as anything I've ever seen. It is a world renowned rock climbing mecca. Never did that, accidents too permanent. But, there are lakes about every mile. Never saw so many 3 to 5 pound trout, rainbow, steelhead and goldens anywhere. My favorite food! My mouth is watering now...

Btw, how ya doin' Sweet P? It's late there and you said you were tired earlier.

I'm sorry to hear that, but I think I understand.

Btw, left out the High Atlas in Morroco. They'd be second for me. That's before you take into account the unbelievable generosity and hospitality of the mountain tribal folk. It's too bad folk don't get to see the love and welcoming of true and devout Muslims. The true religion. Not that Wahabbi crazy sect now being fueled by Iraq.

In case I don't get to see you again tonight, Sweet Dreams Sweet P.

I've told you how lucky I feel about where life has taken me. I'm a very lucky one. Hawaii is a small pond with amazing talent. In the profession I was in you meet people, and if you are a music lover, friends happen. And then other entertainers go there or contribute to some albums. There's a phrase that locals say to each other there: Lucky you live Hawaii!

How many more Senate Seats with the GOP party of Hate lose in 2010? I'm saying 3 or 4. There is talk of remodeling the Senate Chamber to eliminate the aisles since crossing them has become unnecessay. One idea is to sprinkle the few Republicans in here and there. By 2024 the GOP will be taking a backseat to the Independents who will assume the 2 spot. By 2030 there will be no Republicans under the age of 70. Hate will die hard for them but it will be great fun and sport helping them turn to dust. My New Years Resolution for 09 is not to argue with the mouth-breathers but to nicely remind them that their message of hate is no longer tolerated.

Here's a great comeback for the mouth-breathers...You couldn't spell CAT iif I spotted you the C and A. duh! yuk! That's a good one. yuk! duh!

Probably true Sakharov. The Repubs are the Whigs of early 21st century American political life. As for the lame attempt at humor - dude it's just not your forte. Better stick with the "straight" man insults laced with misspellings, and inane historical analogies that we all know and love you for. Again, let me know if you'd like some "slam" pointers and I'll see what I can do..you WILL have to ask nicely.

Does it really matter which side of the demopublican party (the party of hate) is in power? The same thing happens: more of our wealth is stolen and even more of our basic human rights are denied.

  • Posted By: phasor @ 12/22/2008 12:22:24 PM

Socialism for the rich = current American capitalism.

    • Posted By: deadhorse @ 12/23/2008 1:46:07 AM

Absolutely correct, true capitalism dictates that a corporation that cannot stand on its own must fall. The very idea of using tax money to bail out corporations is about as far from capitalism as it gets; and since the vast mjority of the GOP (including Curiour George himself) strongly adovated these bail outs, I guess it's safe to call the GOP fascists, no?

      • Posted By: Horrible Bastard @ 12/23/2008 1:10:38 PM

You yanks are funny. Everything you don't like is "fascism". You wouldn't know actual fascism if it bit you on your ***.

        • Posted By: FredianoB @ 12/23/2008 1:28:25 PM

Connected crony business interests bolted to the guns of government is fascism enough in America. Calling it 'corporatism' or 'centralism' or 'federal croniesm' is entertaining but besides the point. As for 'real fascists', that's easy to find. We just need to go look around for our European allies getting their latest butt kicking from their latest local tribal statist experiment run amok. You make a good point; maybe we should just call this fascination with tribal bootlicking 'Europeanism.' Whatever we call it, our own local love affair with monopolists with guns is doing us in.

          • Posted By: Horrible Bastard @ 12/23/2008 2:02:22 PM

Oh, yes, that would be far more accurate. Come on over, and I will show you a CCTV camera every 10 metres. I will show you a gutted civil rights charter. I will show you a disarmed population that is by no stretch of the imagination "safer". I will show you protestors jailed for 20 years. I will show you all of these things and more, and you will return and continue castrating your own liberties out of sheer partisanship to the party of your choice, as if you had never seen the results of that partisanship in advance.

Oh, yes. We know fascism. You don't.

            But you will.

Now this is funny. There is no way a Marxist/fascist like Obama can save something that has never been in existence in Amerika anyway.

    • Posted By: 40YearR @ 12/23/2008 7:04:02 PM

Ah, now I see that we are dramatic about more things than WWII. Please state your reasons you are so certain Obama is either a fascist or a Marxist. Nothing like that appears in his books, for example, although there was a plethoral of fabrications about what they were purported to say on other subjects.

      • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/24/2008 10:37:50 AM

I think O will be somewhat more centrist than many on the right believe. Having said that, the 'old' Obama had made many comments in favor of wealth redistibution.

        • Posted By: 40YearR @ 12/26/2008 12:48:44 PM

Other than the trumpeted one to Joe the Opportunist, which other many did Obama make?

          • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/29/2008 11:45:28 AM

Oops, man do I feel silly with that red herring known as Joe the Plumber. When Obama said he's going to spread the wealth around what he really meant to say is that he's going to spread around the wealth. Only a simpleton like me would confuse wealth redistribution and redistribution of wealth...mea culpa.

Ahhhh, now that's an expansion of the term fascism I haven't seen. (You must have a lot of friends.) Shakespeare would be proud of you. Maybe you can get the OED to credit you with this new useage.

          • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/29/2008 10:38:18 AM

That's funny you're ragging on someone for misusing the term fascism. That's rich..HA HA HA. Kind of like Hitler raggin' on one of his storm trooper cronies for displaying anti-semitic tendencies.

          • Posted By: Bill Smith @ 12/23/2008 10:27:23 PM

More character assassination. But then again I expect that from people who support theft and murder.

Jim... What in the world you want him to do? Beat himself across his back with a belt until the stock market recovers, or how about, go on a hunger strike? The stock market will not recover until all of us start acting as if it is not an issue and start lending and spending money. Yes, some folks lost their jobs and cannot afford to spend money, but those who can needs to do so.
Some of us as Americans complain too much and is entirely too damn selfish. If something good happens to someone, I guarantee somebody will have sometime negative to say. As a nation, we should put aside our differences at this stage of our history and confront our challenges, but instead we are acting like 3-year-old kids fighting over lollypops.
Every day I see outstanding young Americans putting their lives at risk in order to give our Country a chance to be great again for all of us. They serve not just for conservatives, progressive, or independence, but for the USA. I???ve been serving our great country for over twenty years and it the young Soldiers that continues to inspire me daily not you old fools.

    • Posted By: pbpace @ 12/29/2008 11:21:12 AM

Yep, that's what we need. More mindless consumerism to make us great again. We don't have enough debt in this country... right? That is what made us great. Forget all the silly talk about rebuilding our manufacturing base, savinf for the future and shoring up our currency. It's all just fluff.

That's it for now . On to Savannah for Christmas. everyone, i hope has a good one. Not to worry, I'll return before the New Year to remind all of the remaining members of the GOP party of hate how they share in the blame for continuing to alibi the Bush/Cheney plot to fake evidence that direstly caused the deaths of more than 4000 of our bravest and best young Service Women and Men. Part of the blame is yours too, for the failure to rout out Bin Laden. The financial disasterof course was Bill Clinton's fault or was it Jimmy Carter's fault. I just can't keep up with Limbaugh's later rationalization of why Bush was the greatest. Here a question for you why did Bush fake the evidence? answer, because the world is better off without Sadaam.
