    Come on, guys, what greatness do you see in this former very ordinary KGB agent??? All his greaat military victories are against his own province and Georgia stray dogs, all with great Russian casualities.
    Economic achievements: despite huge, one-of-the-century luck with oil prices - Russia is still the same primitive supplier of raw materials, in addition he manages to scare away Russian capital, so for "new Russians" to lose 50% of their money abroad is better than to keep money "under gun" in Rusia. Now Russians start paying much bigher price for american crisis than americans.
    Political achievements: Almost all neighbours (except Iran) hate Russia. Yes, EU countries are afraid of Russia as a bully, but fear does not mean respect, and if 15 years ago industrial countries looked at Russia as new China or India (to invest money), now they only think how to reduce dependence of Russian oil and gas, let alone investments.

      While Russia itself will not have been ill with all illnesses (a policy and economy), only then to be established a reasonable system. On an example of Iraq - democracy not the export goods. Many countries had launch and falling time in the history.

            And what at us extraordinary happens? Putin the first politician - the sportsman and not the drunkard. Medvedev loves a heavy rock. All goes the way. And here who us will correct - will solve the population of Russia (I hope).We will want a monarchy - there will be a monarchy, liberalism - will be liberalism. USA let orders economy USA. I think in due course all will be laid on the shelves. The main thing it is not necessary to be under a delusion on lightning cavalry swoops in the politician, and on wonderful transformations of the former party bosses into liberals. (It is opposite to me to look at prayers were "the first secretaries" in church.)

              Bad comparisons. Lenin, Stalin, Hitler were not drunks. Sadam was ot a drunk and loved american goods and, I guess, rock. About Russian free will - yes, it was your free will to almost re-elect communists back and then elect KGB agent whose only agievement was to successfully blew up buildings wioth civilians on both sides.

            No, I am originally from Moscow, don't even like "Pols and Balts" (probably for the same reason as you), and do not enjoy Russian demise. But these 20 years proved that it were not communists, mongols, Jews, imperialists who brought Rusiia down, it is Russians. You are who you are, and fully deserved it.

          15 years ago Russia was the gangster state. Yes for 20 years it is made nothing. Eventually in the market one trade in pies and others irons. New Russian basically - gangsters 90 who perfectly know whence at them riches and that any of them is waited by prison with widely open doors. In China too from time to time shoot "new Chineses" and it will be not clear that there after leaving of communists. In India behind external successes - poverty. And in Rosii was - rockets flied, and in shops is empty.

    Was there any doubt that Putin ever relinquished power? Medvedev is just a puppet and Putin pulls the strings. He is a shark, a very dangerous man and the West would do well to remember that.

    Yes, there was not clear situation of a diarchy. Mister Putin it is is more often visible on TV than Mister Medvedev. Crisis in economy - roofing felts are bad affairs, roofing felts on the quiet again there is a property repartition.
