In theory this mumbling, chain-smoking general answers to President Asif Ali Zardari. But Kayani and his troops remain the dominant power in what could be the most dangerous country in the world. He's responsible for Pakistan's nukes; for the battle against Al Qaeda and its tribal allies along the Afghan border; and for managing tensions with neighbor India. So far, his army has kept itself out of politics and seems focused on the battle against jihadists. In the wake of the November terrorist attacks in Mumbai, Kayani stood firm on Pakistan's sovereignty while also taking measures against the alleged sponsors of the outrage.

Kayani insists he's a committed democrat, but he nevertheless argues that military interventions (there have been four since independence 61 years ago) are sometimes necessary to maintain Pakistan's stability. He likens coups to temporary bypasses that are created when a bridge collapses on democracy's highway. After the bridge is repaired, he says, then there's no longer any need for the detour.

haha wow were u born yesterday boy>? Listen buddy first go get yourself enrolled in history 101 and then maybe you will be able to write something sensible or maybe even something slightly more admissible. Just to keep the record straight..... RAW has been behind every attack in Pakistan. ISA and CIA created Taliban to fight Russians because "USA" needed them. They create them... disown them and expect them to not retaliate?. Before Afghanistan USA had no troops in South Asia and now they do. Even being an Indian does that make you happy? Wake up boy it aint too late.

RAHUL D! Just listening to u blabbing randomness and limited facts make me question any authenticity of your comments. Apart from being an Indian or a Pakistani have you ever considered the after math of all British colonization is destabilized thirld world countries. Divide and conquer has always been the philosophy. SriLanka has the Tamil issue and thats their own people, Bangladesh (x-East pakistan) still trying to find its own true existence, Pakistan and India fighting over Kashmir and then there is Afghanistan. Indians and Pakistanis are similar in their culture and their heritage. they share the same past and same roots. I think its time that everyone grows up and find a common ground to attain some level of prosperity in the region.

As far as the terrorists are concerned, whether its ISI in Pakistan, RAW in India, CIA in USA or KGB in Russia or any other intelligence agency they all do what they have to do to ensure the stability of their own country. Its just who is better at what they do and I think we all know who is the best at what they do.
