    shahrukh defines the other face of islam with his benign smile and charm galore ,
    he reaches to hearts and minds in the way of the majority of muslim men who are popular and sucessful amongst the women and corporates without compromising their muslim id,
    a feat which seemed impossible to achieve with the terror rhetoric and he has proudly and affably shown the artistic face of the much maligned religion -he has secyred a coup detat

    they are totally genuine and all the others i voted for were in this list too,

    That's not true - SRK is getting a growing fanbase in places like Germany and Eastern Europe. The more normalized Muslim faces and themes become in Europe, maybe we'll see less of the awful racism there...

      Ha Ha, Yes, who would have thought that the economic recession will have such catastrophic effects that Newsweek will put Shahrukh Khan in this list for money. Because there really is no other reason for it.

    This is absolutely untrue. I am an Indian, living in Delhi and I want to confirm that Shahrukh khan is the most hated actor in India. The most loved and respected is Amitabh Bachchan. Shahrukh is hated not because of any other reason but only because of his deliberate and fake PR stunts and his ability to manipulate the media implying that the common man is stupid enough. Its a shame that of so many worthy people in India, Newsweek has chosen Shahrukh Khan. Pathetic.

    It's about time Shahrukh received such recognition. SRK's power may have eluded some. It's the power of positivity--the power to celebrate 'Love' in all its forms: love of family, friends, women, men, sports, learning. The world continues to need more of it--Shahrukh has an endless supply and the intellect to make it work . . . anywhere, anytime, in any country. Billions of people know his power and love him in return. That's why he deserves to be on the list. Well done, Newsweek!

    Guys! u need to know first whats the meaning of "power" its not the popularity in some industry or in some place or game or in some comunities...,its about ability to change a nation or bring bright change in cultures. the names u people mentioned of course they may be "icon" in their own fields...but this ranking is not about that.....

    its great shahrukh is on the list and he truly deserves it.he is the most well known star in the whole world. amir khan and aothers are just wannabes. his latest rnbdj has sweeped all the records without any promotionsso talk sense. people love him adore him and vote him as the youth icon. his films have all the best records.his film DDLJ is still ongoing for more than 12 years.you all are just jealous. and he achieved all his success on his own hard work and determination without any godfathers backing him. so take lessons from him and talk

    It's sad...that newsweek has been taken in by the indian media who has a biased towards srk...actually srk has the media in his pocket. How can he be so famous when half of india does not know of him? He does not even have all india appeal! It seems the nri audience has been taken as the yardstick, which is pretty sad! Shahrukh is going to disappear in acting pretty soon and another loverboy will take over...then what, will that new loverboy be in newsweek? Aamir Khan has totally dominated bollywood this year....people look forward to his movies regardless, this year his Ghajini has taken every thunder away from 'rbndj' and akshay kumar's movies made more moniey in the overseas market and srk gets a topspot in newsweek.......LOL! I expect better from a prestigious media conglomerate as Newsweek and don't get swayed by the Indian media! Shahrukh is a perfect example of how mediocrity can have such a fan following!

    He definetely deserves it. He's one muslim guy in the bollywood industry who is making a difference. I wouldn't be surprised if he makes it to #1 in a few years.
