    seven years in tibet was a huge melodramatic void which was romanticising a medieval culture with primitive values over scientific and moral values ,
    tibetans are as much chinese as the muslims in kashgar and the chinese respect the buddhists and the muslims alike-.
    more so the the americans who fry muslim kids every day in iraq and gaza and claim to be supporting the dalai lama for religious tolerance .

    a true charade in the worst possible taste which even beats the pot boilers of hollywood

    You are deeply brainwashed by the west ideology though TVs,Movies and mainstream medias.

    I think you never know the Tibet's past and its relationship with China.If you judge Tibet only according to the Document movie of Dalai Lama of CBS,Kunden and seven years in Tibet acted by Pitt I think you will always get the wrong judgements about Tibet issue.

    Tell you the truth that there are about 160 thousands of local Tibetan CCP members in TAE.Majority of TAR officials are local Tibetans.In the past 16 years Tibet expienced double-digit economic growth.Tibetan GDP per capital is `12000 EMBs in 2007.98 percent of Tibetan population enjoy the basic Medical insurence.Over 80 percent of Tibetan shepherds have moved into government-sponsored new houces.Vegetable consumeing has increase 1 kilograms per 15 days in 1978 and per person to 1 kilogram per day and per person in 2008.

    there is pic of Mao zedong being hanged in the houses of most of Tibetan farmers and shepherds today which is hardly seen in the homes of Han Chinese .Before `959 there are only total near 3000 sdudents,Currently there are more than 400 thousands of High-school-level and below-level students and more than 40000 college students.

    Nepotism is very popular in Tibetan Government in exile and the family members of Dalai Lama including his brothers ,sisters and nephew and niece have enacted many positions in Dalai's government.The pro-indepedence Tibetan Youth Congress was also builded by his younger brother and sister in 1970s..Dalai Lama is always in the payroll of CIA since 1959 until 1972 when Nixon visited China at that year.From 1959 to 1970 Dalai Lama alway organized gurrila wars in the borders of sino-India.He is never a no-violence person.Only after 1970 Dalai Lama started to propogadate his no-violence principle following the change of international situation,Hoever Tibetan Youth Congress made lots of Terrorist and violent activities inside and outside of China since 1970s and Dalai Lama never persisted his no-violence principle.He is just keeping lying around the world which violats the basic principle as a Buddha.
    common Tibetan Buddhism practices are very very polular including very stricted home practices and venerations toward the importand monasteries and holding religional festivals in today's Tibet.

    There are four sects of Tibetan Buddhism which are Niymapa,Sakyapa,Kagyupa and Gelugpa,Panchen and Dalai belong to Gelugpa.Dalai's influences concentrate on the middle and north Tibet.The Tibetans who believe Niymapa,Sykyapa and Kagyupa never put their beliefs on Dalai lama or Panchen Lama.Dalai Lama is not only spiritual leader at all.

    Maybe you can find some dessatisfactions in Lhasa from some local monks and youths.However it dosn't represent majority of Tibetans in TAR.The policy made by PRC over Tibet finally have t be implemented by Local Tibetans given the numbers of Tibetan officials and Tibetan CCP members .

    Dalai Lama is complete a lier.Before 1959 he is the dictator of Tibet.Under his rule 95 percent of Tibetans are serfs under the rule of Fuedal serfdom of Theocracy.The serfs belonged to the nobals and monasteries. most of them had alread has too much debt to Nobels and Monasteries that they could not return completely.most of serfs are illiterate before 1959.They have to suffer the cruel penalties including mutilation,gouging out of eyes,whipping,freezing to death and so on.The old Tibetan law "13 articlus" states that Tibetans are classified as three class and nine grades.Among them the life of highest grade is valued as gold while the lowest isvalued as a piece of straw.The Butcher,Women is the lowest grade and the Hukuulkus including Dalai Lama and Panchen Lama are the highese grade.

    The democratic reform in 1959 make more than 1 million serfs own the l arable lands at the first time in Tibetan history and make them free of those debets they could not pay for ever.

    Hope Our deer Americans can go to Tibet by yourselve and have s see to Tibet in person which will help you understand the trueth of Tibet.Best you can go to the families of common Tibetan shepherds and farmers.Just Visiting Lhasa can not show all Tibetan trueth .because the Shepherds and Farmers take over 90 percent of Tibetan populations.A photo documentary "Tibet Diary" maybe can help your Americans to understand the current situation of Tibet which was photographed by 2 common americans and get the famous awards in USA in 2006.You can find the series in Youtube." A year in Tibet' of BBC is also a very good TV series made by BBC.

    Understanding Tibet's history is so hard for your Americans.I hope you guys can try your best to learn more about Tibet.I advise your guys to read the books of Melvyn C. Goldstein. Goldstein has writed 3 books concerning Tibetan history from 1911 to 1998.I think your americans will very enjoy thems.

    The matter of succession for the Dali Lama is much more complicated - and far less unilateral - than the article makes it sound. And, yes, centuries of tradition are bound up in that tradition, but that tradition has already been commandeered by the Communist Chinese.

    Most people don???t realize that the Dali Lama is not a singular religious figure but that the tradition of this role as supreme spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhists relies on the lesser, but no less crucial role: the Panchen Lama. Together, as a kind of spiritual brotherhood, each names the others??? successor upon the death of either one, thereby ensuring an unbroken spiritual tradition carried forward through reincarnation. The selection of a new Dali Lama can ultimately be legitimized only by the Panchen Lama and vice versa. This authorization of a new Lama, carried out in secret and according to an elaborate tradition of religious procedure, secures the succession of Buddhist authority. Everything depends on the integrity of that dual process and the legitimacy of the primary spiritual brotherhood.

    Following the death of the last Panchen Lama and the naming of Gedhun Choekyi Nyima as the new Panchen Lama on May 14, 1995, the government of the People???s Republic of China stepped in and replaced him with a child of their own selection, abducting Nyima and his family and placing all in the ???protective custody??? of the state. None have been seen nor heard from since.

    So, upon the death of the now ailing Dali Lame, the Chinese Communist government will have their own authority, based on this stolen and plagiarized version of Tibetan Buddhist traditions, to trot out a Panchen Lama of their choosing for selecting the new Dali Lama. An entire tradition reaching back many centuries before communism was ever conceived is about to disappear as a legitimate spiritual tradition. It will be replaced by a faux spiritual tradition with as much authenticity as the opening ceremony for the Beijing Olympics and as much integrity as their gymnastic team. The ???Tibetan issue??? will be solved as the Chinese Communists solve all their problems: by imposing state control and bringing the Tibetan Buddhist spirit under management of state apparatchiks. Neither the state nor its bureaucrats have any commitment to a Buddhist spiritual tradition except insofar as it is the commitment to abolish it altogether. This is a future that already in the state history book.

      Chinese government and Tibetan Buddhisam Circle decided to appoint a new leader of the committee ,aborlish the choice of Dalai Lama who violated the tradition procedures of chosing the incarnation of Dalai and Panchen and look for the new incarnations of 10th Panchen Lama.Finally several new incarnations were founded including Choigyl Nobu,the current 11th Panchen Lama.Bhomi CHangpa who is the acting Gandan Triba of Gandan Monastery and very professional in Tibetan Gelugpa Buddhisam was appointed to draw the lot from the Golden Urn in Johkang Monastery.Choigyl Nobu was drawed out .Chinese government confirmed the result of drawing process of Golden Urn and Choigyl Nobu become the new 11th Panchen Lama.

      So I think that the saying that Choigyl Nima is true 11th Panchan Lama is wrong because Chosing hime as 11th Panchen Lama totally violated the traditional procedure and the willing of 10th Panchen.Choigyl Nobu should be the true Panchan Lama because he was chosed with the divination of 14th Dalai Lama ,corresponding traditional procedure and being confirmed by Chinese Government.

    DaLaiLama is a good politician or pop-star, but he is not such a saint. He is nothing but a joke in the history of The Nobel Peace Prize.

    Americans consider situations in Lhasa as same as Palestine .rofl ??? I have some Tibetan classmates in Sichuan University and have been to Tibet several times. You should go to Tibet and see it yourself. And then ,I bet you must show the same indignation as Chinese comments.

    If the Chinese people could realize how their treatment of Tibet and the Dalai Lama makes them appear to the rest of the world, they might be more willing to be less oppressive and agressive. The Tibetans continue to practice non-violence while the Chinese prison, kill, and torture Tibetans who speak up. I hope that as China becomes a more open country that the citizens of China will change thier government's policy towards Tibet. Barrie Mason
