    This was reasonably well reported until your final paragraph where you invoke "some scientists" and an anonymous colleague. You might instead have noted the successful launch of Keasling's pilot plant in CA, producing diesel fuel from sugar, or the major up-scaling of the technology in collaboration with major Brazilian sugar and ethanol producers. But that would have dulled the yappy-dog nip of your snarky conclusion.

      "Snarky"? Let us look at how we look at things and keep it in context. The point (last paragraph in article) is valid AND advantageous for dealing with potential pitfalls. Instead of hyperreaction, one might wish to gratefully accept criticism. For all the good one might do, there are always unforseen consequences. Einstein's work on atomic energy is an excellent example. Although, I do feel that he knew exactly what was likely to happen as a result of his efforts in that regard. Hope springs eternal. The lack in vision for any ONE individual is insufficient reason to refuse the vision of others. The abundance of vision in any one or group is likewise insufficient reason to reject criticism.
