Oh god kdawg1012. If it were peacetime, would you be railing about the soldiers that die in no-less tragic circumstances? (To a soldier, I think it'd be MORE tragic..) What about Lung Cancer? AIDs? Enviiromental Factors? Abortions?

You did not mention the men and women who died fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. They should have been at the very top of the list!

paul newman is a man that modern hollywood cannot even touch with their truly mediocre modicum and measly talent

he will be missed always -he is so spontaneous in comparison to brandos method and gables style -
in fact he is a great talent like hoffman and nicholson except he has much more charm then them both put together

though he lived well and died well too

It's a damn shame that LeRoi Moore, saxophonist of Dave Matthew's Band, was ignored in this list. After being a member of a world-renowned band for 18 years as well as an incredible musician in his own right, Moore's passing is a tragedy, and his life should be remembered.

To be great is not to be great from one particular perspective. One is great because they are the best at what they do. One might remind Dencal26 of this, and though I voted for Reagan in 1980, and Obama in 2008, I also know that during the 1930's, there were upwards of 30 million American members of the Communist party. One suspects this was not without cause.

Studs Terkel was a communist . Newsweek knows this yet calls him a liberal. So why are conservatives attacked when they call liberals " Commies"?

Many human luminaries died this year. Highly endangered mountain gorillas, bonobos, lions, tigers, manatees, whales and other imperiled creatures all died too. Their deaths were caused by deadly human violence and malevolence.
