I'm glad two children did not die because you can't live without your cell phone.

what's really a shame is people are so quick to judge.

I would love to be sitting next to some of you "catty" people in this type of crisis. You're probably the ones that would scream the loudest, trample everyone in an attempt to get out first, and have to throw away your shorts.

God Bless you all that were on this flight what a horrible experience to go thru. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and we are happy that all of you are alive. God works in mysterious ways. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

I agree with Hambrain....Jeb is a self-centered moron who is more interested in his bag than the well-being of others. I'd love to have been in back of them....they'd both have size 13 shoe prints on various parts of their body !

I agree with this reader. Maybe by posting this comment someone will think twice about saving personal belonings that can be replaced and do what youre supposed to and get out quickly so EVERYONE will be safe. I would be furious if i'm on a plane that has crashed and burning in flames and the idiot in front of me is gathering belongings blocking my way.

Three comments, and all are critisizing the writer. No wonder this country is in the state that it is in. People do not see what is good and positive anymore. People were saved! Children lived! Shame on you for not giving thanks for the good things that came from this accident. Granted, you have the right to your opinion; next time, think befiore you write! Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosurous New Year!

What a miracle that everyone survived!

I am shocked at reading this:
I'd managed to grab my bag, which had a phone, sweater and jacket,"
I have read that quite a few passengers on this flight were doing the same before leaving the aircraft (hello!!! what are you thinking? you are in an aircraft that is ON FIRE!) and I find it disturbing that anyone (not just this passenger/writer) would waste a -single second- getting their "personal belongings." A second that could affect someone else's life. With only -seconds- to evacuate a plane in the event of a fire/emergency before people are overcome by toxic smoke, it is scary that anyone would think it reasonable to grab any of their stuff. What if those few extra seconds are the very ones the last few people to get out of the plane needed to make it out safely?

It's a shame people have nothing better to do than write the rude comments that I have just read here.

Ashley and Jeb were the first out of the plane, but Jeb took the time to retreive his bag and cellphone before deplaning the burning aircraft. I sure hope I don't get this couple in front of me if I'm ever involved in a crash.

Not to mention, if "Jeb" and "Mrs. Jeb" were among those seated closest to an exit, his presence of mind sufficient to reach for his bag and take it with him not only contradicts a fundamental principle of aircraft evacuation (leave your posessions behind), but it also put anyone and everyone heading to the same exit behind them in even greater jeopardy by potentially delaying their exit.

I wonder if the wife thought to herself: "Crap. I'm going to die and I'm married to a guy named 'Jeb'."
