Fixing Uncle Sam’s Image Problem

Total typical mainstream media BS. My personal view is, I don't give a $%@! what any other country thinks about us. I rather like it when other countries, especially those who sponsor terror, don't know what to expect from our president. It keep us safe.

Does anyone doubt that among terrorist organizations there weren't conversations along the lines of, "Let's not attack the Americans while GWB is still in office. His reprisals will be fierce and swift. Let's wait until the new, weaker president is in office to attack. He won't have the stomach for reprisals."? You bet.

This article is but one more example of a marginally talented writer, along with the backing of his editor and publisher, reaching, stretching to hang the world's woes on GWB. Another vain attempt to foster the illusion that America and her perceived ignorance toward the rest of the world is the root cause of all problems. Does anyone REALLY think that as Pierre enters the voting booth in Paris, he pauses to consider how WE will feel about his vote and who is elected to lead France?!?! Not a chance!

I just wonder who this writer voted for? You sure can't tell by his writing! To think the bozos at Newsweek actually think they are fooling anyone.

My observations are that Uh-bama voters generally fall into three groups; uninformed, misguided or witless. Which group is this writer in?

Chubsoda, get your head out of your @$$ while you still can. Ask your so intelligent Eurotrash friends if they bother to consider what we think about their vote or who their leader is. They don't. So why should we? A Euro-centric world view such as yours, Chubby, will only lead to the US becoming a second class country, much like he EU is today. Is the US perfect? Not by a long shot. But we still do more good in the world than ANY other nation. Need it be said that without US leadership, all these European nations would be speaking German today as their national language.

The sad fact is, other countries hate the US. They are jealous of our economic prosperity. They are envious of our technology. They are resentful of our innovation. These other countries will never love the US. There is NOTHING we can do that will change their opinion of us, so why try? What is the point?

We can start by having our criminal government account for the 750 BILLION they have taken from the American people!!!!! - Good Lord, This is simply unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

I AM A CHRISTIAN/REPUBLICAN/TEACHER. I voted for the the other party for the 1st time because I had ideas agreeing with the thesis of this paper. Is the peace agreemant ( we pay Isreal@& Egypt a few million every rear not to fight) still in effect? It has worked rather well, thanks to Jimmy Carter (didn't vote for him) . That was some of his best work. Maybe we can renew the time limit on this, and expand it to other problem areas. It is far less costly than a milatary solution. The root of our PR problem is our foreign policies regarding Isreal. People are very nationalistic and teratorial with different mores in this region of the world.. .

What we really need to do is figure out a way to stop half the world from trying to move here. We have too many people already! STOP! STOP! STOP!

The way to regain America's FULL GLOBAL RESPECT is to show strength again, lead the world again, boot the U.N. off its shores, destroy Iran with nuclear technology instead of a protracted war, aid Israel in the immediate destruction of Hamas, cease all aid to the Palestinians, build major US-owned and staffed military bases in Iraq and in the Persian Gulf, begin drilling in Alaska and off-shore where the American greenies have blocked before, close the porous borders, end all welfare in 30 days, eliminate all corporate welfare, eliminate all religious faith-based initiatives welfare, eliminate all social welfare, return all domestic weapons-related gun laws to their far safer 1910 status, stop all farm subsidies, reduce the income tax to 9% universal for all brackets without exception or breaks of any kind. eliminate all other taxes in existence, eliminate the EPA, eliminate the Energy Department, separate the F from the FDA to allow for proper checks and balances instead of letting them create their own customers, cut all ties to the Federal Reserve, eliminate all regulatory agencies, cease all outdated Indian assistance programs (which means all of them), erase all hate-crimes laws from the books (murder and battery are equally bad no matter who is being attacked, stop pandering to and giving false pity to minorities), and institute a true death penalty for convicted murderers and rapists and kidnappers and arsonists (to reduce those crimes by factors of hundreds of percentage points).

How can anyone blame LIBERALS when CONS have been running the country for the past 25 years?

I think the world is going to have to realize that the US can't be EXPECTED to donate food and money everytime their country needs something. They are also going to have to realize that we are not the dumping ground for their hatred. They don't seem to mind asking for a handout but very seldom do we receive a "thank you". There have been many times when the US has been hit hard by hurricanes, floods, tornados and whatever. Where's are help? You know it would be nice for some other country to actually volunteer and not wait to be asked. We volunteer and then never receive a thank you. Everyone complains about us, but the loudest complainers are first in line for any handout they think they deserve. If we are such a BAD country, why are there so many illegal immigrants risking their lives sometimes to live here. I don't see anyone dying to go to the complainers countries. No, the complainers are the ones running here and then griping because it's not like "home". If it was just like "home" they wouldn't have come here in the first place. Boston Irish

Just like Christianity, Islam has earned its horrible reputation.

In fact, the two faiths are so similiar in their respective views of the world that it's surprising that they are not allies.

Both are bent on world domination.
Both condone slavery.
Both hate women and children.
Both support violence (read the lyrics of MANY Christian hymns like "Onward Christian Soldiers")
Both destablize the world.
Both need to be dealt with.

There are so many belligerent, ignorant Americans it makes my hair stand on end. I feel sorry for the thoughtful Americans having to deal with this constantly.

I agree with the article - the US does not have an image problem, it has a policy problem. The policies are based on ignorance, laziness, self-righteousness and often racism against darker peoples.

The American attitude towards the Palestinians makes me weep. The only right the Palestinians seem to have and to have ever had is the right to do as their told, without resistance, to move aside, go away, accommodate others, lose their homeland and everything they have for the benefit of others. And then they are called terrorists. They are truly the wretched of the earth.

As usual the Republicans are blinded to the realiity of their dysfunctional party. The party of hatred and division is dead in the water.

Religious "freedom" will be the cause of our downfall.
Someone needs to silence the spiritually insane in my land. We don't need religion. We don't need God. All we need is the freedom to pursue happiness, as T.J. wrote so eloquently.
