Just like the Republitards to have a companywho can't even spell GOVERNMENT trying to save their sinking ship. Try, try, try as you will....the result will be the same.....Fascist White Supremicist Religiious Fanatics and Megalomaniacs in a newer, shinier package of deception.

    • Posted By: bkrummel @ 12/30/2008 11:40:12 PM

So I take it all Democrats can do is find fancy ways to insult Republicans. Aren't you special! Wait, I can do it too...Dumb-ocrat.

Most Republican are NOT a bunch of Fascist, White Supremicist Megalomaniac Religious Fanatics. We just want a small, responsible government. We are sick of being stuck between the Religious Fanatics and overly-liberal jerks like you! Though admittedly the newer, shinier wrapper is not helpful.

      • Posted By: gozo @ 01/03/2009 1:25:39 PM

You want a small, responsible government? The republican corporate/government is anything but small.

  • Posted By: klebrun @ 12/31/2008 12:27:48 PM

The first word that comes to mind for Republican is Resign.

    But here we go again.

The real problem with the GOP is that it is all image and no substance. They select leaders based on image. Bush was an empty suit and so is Sarah Palin, at least mentally. But, they look good, so they select them to run the country with the intention that guys like Cheney will pull the real strings behind the scenes - sort of a bait and switch scam.

They have an awesome propaganda machine that can pump up the Evangelicals and the rednecks on gay, abortion and family values issues - but once elected the big boys, operating behind this smoke screen, focus on the fast buck. They talked incessantly about taking care of Joe Sixpack and then screwed him to the wall over the last 8 years.

In simple terms, that is why we are in the mess that we are in.

They brought our country to its knees with deregulation but then continue to talk about small government which is just alternative spin for deregulation. They want to continue the free for all that just brought us down.

With the level of greed and ethics that we have just experienced in Washington and Wall Street, we should have learned that you can't give a bunch of Republicans unregulated control of the national budget. They will steal everything that is not nailed down, and sometimes they will even steal the stuff that is nailed down.

Until they decide to select mature, qualified candidates for office, they should continue to play with games such as redesigning their image - so they don't hurt anybody.

    • Posted By: bkrummel @ 12/31/2008 3:37:42 PM

There is a big difference between small government and deregulation. Keep in mind Bush had plenty of tax cuts and deregulating, but was basically big government. Limited government means that the government does its job without overreaching, creating big unnecessary programs. Tax cuts WITH spending cuts. We don't need deregulation or lots of regulation, we need smart regulation. The greedy eventually self-destruct; we need to make sure they lose when they do and they don't take the economy with them via smart regulation. We aren't anarchist or idiots like Bush. Though many Republicans mistake small government with stupid government.

What many are proposing is to completely reverse deregulation with excessive regulation. There is also the possibility that Obama and company will use the economic crisis to get through their big government agenda that they have been waiting years to do. (Though hopeful Obama will help the economy; we shall see.) This is just as bad as what Bush did.

      • Posted By: gozo @ 01/03/2009 1:21:54 PM

What do you expect from our corporate/government? It is all about image without substance...the same images that convince you that greed is the only answer....buy...buy....buy.....

    "Posted By: suzyku @ 12/31/2008 12:56:58 PM
The Republicans need a lot more than a new logo! They need a new way of thinking and acting and some sensitivity classes! They need to get rid of the neocons and wingnuts and negativity and plain out nastiness. Until they do that they will remain clueless and hopeless!"

Yes, we should be positive like you and call names and accuse any who don't share our own narrow views of "nastiness". Spare us your hypocrisy. You behave exactly like those you hold in contempt.

    • Posted By: klebrun @ 12/31/2008 1:15:08 PM

Suzyku - just because the Cheney/Bush administration came close to destroying our country, it is no reason to say bad things about them. In fact, following this logic, you should probably offer all those Al Qaeda guys who attacked us a big warm fuzzy. After all, they did one hell of a lot less damage to this country then the idiots in Washington.

      • Posted By: funkdome @ 12/31/2008 1:44:55 PM

        kleburn -

You sound exactly like Rush's dittoheads talking about Clinton "destroying our country". You are just like them.

        • Posted By: gozo @ 01/03/2009 1:19:38 PM

Wake up....our corporate/government is Al Qaieda.....they have used the ignorance of the people in this country to build their propaganda....Wake up from the brainwashing or be destroyed by it.

        • Posted By: bkrummel @ 12/31/2008 3:42:05 PM

          Exactly.

We need both sides to come together and work smartly. Pursuing our agendas and negative politics got us into this mess. Keep in mind Bush didn't work to destroy the country alone; many people both Republican and Democrat did.

        • Posted By: klebrun @ 12/31/2008 2:22:04 PM

And I am not into your Gumbia stuff when it comes to level of destruction that Cheney and Bush have dealt upon my country. My suggestion, if you don't have a clue what has happened, is that you get your Evangelical butt down to the local homeless shelter and start cleaning up some of the mess your buddies have created. There are a record number of homeless out there, thanks to those two nice guys, and there are a hell of a lot more to come. Perhaps you should make the rounds of the cardboard boxes and ask their opinions.

        • Posted By: klebrun @ 12/31/2008 2:18:28 PM

WE came out of the Clinton administration financially solvent.
The Cheney/Bush administration has been an unparalleled disaster by any standard except the far right who love him.

  • Posted By: vanderbilt11 @ 12/31/2008 1:42:06 PM

The fourth choice appeals to me the most. As a college student, the small government grass-roots greatly appeals to me. I am not looking forward to the Obama presidency as it will more than likely lead this nation closer to socialism than it has even been.

    • Posted By: gozo @ 01/03/2009 1:16:29 PM

Greed is the answer...capitalism for the wealthy....let the rightous poor suffer until the pain of living is too severe. Is that what the college students want? Keep the cycle going?

  • Posted By: drewand @ 01/01/2009 4:24:36 PM

Hopefully the devisive and divide and conquer mentality of the GOP as well as the religious right that would deprive Americans from their civil rights will no longer be in power. It is a shame that the GOP and it's history and positive policies have been tainted by these self serving neocon fools. If the GOP ever wants to be viable it won't be a cutsie logo that will bring them back.

    • Posted By: gozo @ 01/03/2009 1:12:53 PM

Lets hope the religious right gets their wish and are raptured soon.

  • Posted By: gozo @ 01/03/2009 1:10:33 PM

I think the young...are more savy then the marketers give them credit for. No one wants to see the ugly face of greed and distruction rise again...Republicans should join bush/cheney in Dubai where someone gives a damn.

  • Posted By: thunder_2008@hotmail.com @ 01/03/2009 12:54:16 PM

Nothing can revive the republican party except for all it's leaders & members to simply extirpate themselves through old age death & for those few middle and young republicans to " become neo-libertarian-conservative ".

Since the repubs broke the United States of America....destoying all of the gains made post WWII. If they could repair what they damaged it would suffice, however the democrates will not allow this.

Furthermore, that addage of if you can't beat them join them...well there it is the republicans must become the democrates it's the only way otherwise a new third party is the only solution.

The only way to straighten out our political system and to insure that candidates/elected officials are responsibly motivated to equitably and honestly represent the majority of their constituents is to take the power and influence out of the hands of the few and make the politicians dependent on the peoples??? voting without allowing manipulation by subterfuge and by those with power. The only way to accomplish that goal is to first stop money from being the controlling factor and then to increase the regulations, enforcement and penalties governing campaigning and in-office performances. The following policies could be considered for achieving those desired results.
??? To minimize the influence and power of money:
    1. Have a drastically restrictive cap on what they can spend, with government providing equal allowances for each candidate.
    2. Prohibit candidates/elected officials from ever advertising and/or making exhibitive promotions/statements for political purposes.
    3. Prohibit candidates/elected officials from advertising and/or making statements about their opponents and/or their opponents positions, forcing them to concentrate and focus on presenting their own positions/qualifications.
    4. Have a reasonable, by given office, number of equitably objective, rational and unbiased debates.
    5. Require all third parties to register and adhere to rules prohibiting their representing/attacking any candidate, either directly or indirectly, and allow only their stating of their support/criticism and reasoning regarding their given positions on the issues.
    6. Under penalty of fine and even loss of license require all media to provide equal time and objective, unbiased and non-slanted reporting.
    7. Provide both internet and printed reporting, listed by office, with reports honestly listing each candidate???s bio (all inclusive personal, family, religious, educational, career, voting record,,,,), their stated positions of adequate but limited length on all positions which are determined to be of current interest and lastly, a longer statement by the candidate detailing what they think is their qualifications and values (all without directly or indirectly referencing their competition or their competition???s positions). These reports would be made available by request, general publication and by direct mail without any bias in availability or access.
    8.
    (continued below)

    • Posted By: NewsWkDickG @ 01/02/2009 9:15:09 PM

      (continuing)

??? To increase the regulations, enforcement and penalties governing campaigning and in-office performance:
      1. Create a non-partisan judicial department charged with the responsibility to identify and prosecute violations of the rules.
      2. Increase the penalties incurred by those found guilty of violations and to include possible disqualification, heavy fines and imprisonment.
      3. Insure that identifying and proceeding to the prosecution of violators the enforcers are not unduly handicapped with restrictive requirements.
      4.

While these suggestions are likely not complete or fool proof they do point out a direction and a hope to accomplish desirable goals. Once the money and the influence of a powerful few is checked it would allow for the development of other political parties representing more of the interests of all of the people and then realizing the need for developing coalitions and for compromise and thus generating a more moderate government, neither being extreme right nor extreme left, and rather more fairly representing all of the people. This really represents the change we drastically need instead of having the pendulum constantly swing back and forth to both extremes and constantly only focused on benefit for a few. To ignore the reality of all of this is to condone and perpetuate the continuance of the problems.

This is an easy one, There is little use in trying to fool people with a new elephant...if you want a Republican party that will appeal to the masses, simply get rid of the Republicans, that is where the real problem exists.

  • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 01/03/2009 10:18:44 AM

First- I have to comment that I am enjoying the photo of the elephant. I love elephants, such strong beautiful creatures and so intelligent. Of course, that's because elephants have an excellent memory! Does the Republican party have an excellent memory? Does the party have the courage to rise from the ashes again?

The Reps rebooting- the party is shell shocked and in denial. They have a difficult road ahead. Just last evening while dining out with friends, an aquaintance stopped by our table to greet us and a couple of my friends got into a political discussion with this person who insists that Sarah Palin has been and will be the Reps greatest asset. Then of course there was the mention of Joe the Plumber. This person also brought up the old Obama's faux birth certificate accusation along with other ridiculous lies which many of us who blogged here throughout the election have been witness to. We all laughed at him in disbelief and that chased him away. If the Republican party is going to continue wasting their time and energy with all of this nonsense instead of rebuilding the party back up, they are in a lot of trouble.

RNC Candidate Distributes 'Barack The Magic Negro' Song

    link to article: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/12/26/rnc-candidate-distributes_n_153585.html

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING NEW ABOUT THIS PARTY!

    • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 12/31/2008 3:51:00 PM

Just to be clear I meant the party leaders, those who condone this action, not that ALL members of the republican party behave this way.

      • Posted By: bkrummel @ 12/31/2008 3:56:47 PM

You beat me too it. Glad you recognize it too. And something needs to be done about people like Saltsman.

        • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 01/02/2009 3:50:46 PM

Did you read on Huffington Post that Fox News displayed a text message regarding this ? We , Americans, are always doing the 2 Step. One step forward (Obama) and Two steps backwards (Prop 8 and Saltsman and those like him)

Hopefully one day we will find a way to get past all of this hate completely.

    • Posted By: bkrummel @ 12/31/2008 3:55:15 PM

Chip Saltsman is an idiot. Many Republican have spoken out against him, including the party leadership. He needs to drop out of the chairmanship race IMMEDIATELY! Bush, the Religious Right, and many other "Republicans" have done tremendous damage to the brand, including relations with minorities. Saltsman added fuel to the fire. But, as hard as this might be to believe, the Republican party as a whole is not like this. We are much more tolerant and intelligent than the stereotype. And we want nothing to do with people like Saltsman.

  • Posted By: Vigilance @ 01/02/2009 9:40:47 AM

How to fix the GOP brand? Maybe by restoring a GENUINE sense of concern over national security and budget deficits and big government and trying to help the millions of Americans who are struggling and hurting badly right now?

No, of course, instead they'll hire marketing experts to create a polished new ad campaign that shovels the various accumulated forms of poisonous, toxic waste even further under the rug.

GOP, get the Hell out of Washington. You have taken a well-functioning country and, by and large, destroyed it via greed, corruption, and ignorance. Words fail me in describing my anger over what you have done to my country, and I doubt most of you even care.

  • Posted By: thrasher32 @ 01/01/2009 11:47:37 AM

Goodbye GOP, Rest in Pieces. It's a new millenium and we don't need your kind of murderous scum in the America of the future.

  • Posted By: wchang @ 01/01/2009 11:37:33 AM

"Inclusivity", with buttons showing black people and rock musicians? How many black people did you see at the Republican National Convention? And, how many rock musicians issued cease-and-desist requests for John McCain to stop playing their effin' song because he's perverting the meaning?

  • Posted By: cm4297 @ 12/31/2008 6:46:01 PM

Some of us recognize that all Republicans are not racist, just as we have to recognize that many Democrats were racist towards Obama.

    • Posted By: bkrummel @ 12/31/2008 8:15:31 PM

The issue is not whether Republicans are all racist or not. The issue is whether minorities are welcome in the Republican Party and if you listen to Saltsman's CD, you'd probably think the answer is no. Moreover, who cares if the Democrats are also racist, the Republicans still suck and need to get their brand out of the trash. The Republicans need to forget about the Democrats, fancy buttons, and other foolishness and get their act together already!

  • Posted By: KL2BE @ 12/31/2008 8:07:18 PM

Pretty lame. Perhaps a reflection of a Party bankrupt of new ideas and tied to a past that never really was.

  • Posted By: bkrummel @ 12/31/2008 12:12:12 PM

funkdome, angry liberals don't need an excuse to get more angry. You just say the words "Republican" or "bush" and they are at it like school yard bullies. But its not like us Republicans didn't ask for it. Ignoring the Klan comment, cyborg65's comment is dead on. The Republican party is too inclusive, white, hateful, and technologically backwards. Or at least that's the unfortunate perception of many and that needs to change. Hopefully quick before we have 16 years of big government under Bush and Obama.

    • Posted By: klebrun @ 12/31/2008 12:35:05 PM

You don't have to be a liberal to be angry at the destruction the Cheney/Bush team has wrought on our country. If any foreign entity had done half the damge to this country that these idiots have done, the GOP would be demanding that we bomb them back into the stone age. But we are supposed to do that Gumbia thing. That is the height of dysfunctionality.

      • Posted By: bkrummel @ 12/31/2008 3:28:29 PM

Trust me, myself and many other Republicans are pretty pissed with Bush and company. But calling us KKK or Repugs is childish and demeaning.

  • Posted By: Cloudosmoke @ 12/31/2008 2:12:37 PM

The republicans landed on Ceti Alpha V long ago and will be stranded there forever.

  • Posted By: CenturionMk5-2 @ 12/31/2008 1:31:15 PM

Okay, option number three assumes capability and desire to technologically adapt. The GOP has not displayed such and it is counter to the basic republican instincts of fear and animosity towards change. Not really a winner, I would have to observe.
While we're at it, Number 2 is so simplistic, ugly, scary and devoid of message in its depiction of the Pachyderm symbol as a stylized blood-red piece of pathetic road-kill, that it needs no further comment.
