THE BIGGEST STORY NOT REPORTED IS HOW THE DEMOCRATS MANIPULATED THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE THEN TURN AROUND AND POINT FINGERS AT THOSE REPUBLICANS WHO TRIED TO WARN US. HOW THE PRESS CHOOSES NOT TO REPORT NEGATIVES ON THEIR CHOSEN PARTY (DEMOCRATS) AND HOW OBAMA WAS ELECTED PRESIDENT BY THE MOST UNINFORMED PUBLIC EVER. I THOUGHT THE JOB OF THE MEDIA WAS TO REPORT NEWS AND INFORM THE PUBLIC. RATHER THEY CHOOSE TO MISLEAD AND BRAINWASH THE PUBLIC. AND YES, MSN IS RIGHT UP THERE DOING JUST THAT.

Yeh Right, the democrats manipulated the economic collapse with a republican majority in house and senate for most of a republican presidents term in office.

Yeah, we know. And Limbaugh, Fox "News", and talk radio are all bastions of journalistic integrity LOL!

However, the single most important overlooked item of 2008 is: President Elect OBAMA DOES NOT HAVE A BIRTH CERTIFICATE FROM THE UNITED STATES. If he is allowed to take office Jan 20, 2009 all Americans will know the status of the constitution...Another worthless piece of paper...in the eyes of many democrats....

    • Posted By: McLovinB @ 01/08/2009 8:21:56 PM

I think you are confused. Obama was definitely born on US soil to a US citizen. That is a fact that is undisputed. If he did not have a certificate, which he does, he could still get one based on a process of affidavits and witnesses. Actually, his MOTHER was definitely a US citizen, so the paternity has no bearing whatsoever and does not need to be proven or certified.

McCain is the one who was not born in the US. He was born in the canal zone, which was not a US state by any stretch. This has been overlooked for one reason or another... probably because he is in a military family, and because he is caucasian.

Interesting illumination, particularly from a news source? It would be interesting if the different major news sources explored and discussed why the gave so little attention to thse as well as other issues. They should have this sort of discussion publically (via a blog session?) so that the public can see that the news media is doing and thinking. Perhaps this is yet another testiment to the value of independent blog sites?

As far as the solar panel/nitrogen trifluoride issue goes, this did not show or prove that the gas is actually being released into the atmosphere, so this may not be a big "Chicken Little" issue. Also, there is a lot of potential from increased funding for new types of solar panels.

    • Posted By: McLovinB @ 01/08/2009 8:15:18 PM

The gas is likely to be released eventually as the equipment becomes disused and discarded. It is also used in production, so some escape occurs there. The quantities are small.
From what I understand, on a damage x quantity calculation basis, so many other chemicals are doing much more harm.

America has failed to define its own origin of culture. It seems to forget that America was founded by faith believing men and women. All others came here and enjoyed the "Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness" envisioned by those faith believing people. Yet it seems our culture , our basic principles that make America , America, which should be as solid as why the French speak French and the German speak German, is no where to be defended. Until we can say clearly and unashamedly that America is a Judeo/Christian country, we will become a country without a history.

    • Posted By: McLovinB @ 01/08/2009 8:12:43 PM

200 some years is not much of a history, all in all, and you ignore that other societies which have avoided Christianity or adopted some other religions have been very successful. China, virtually devoid of belief in major religions, has maintained its topsoil through 4000 years of cultivation. America is ruining its soils in a generation. The Japanese were making technologically magnificent swords and building homes of paper that could withstand typhoons while Germans and the English were living in huts. Christianity did not do that, or invent the zero, or invent navigation. In fact, it opposed much of the scientific development that we enjoy every day.

America could continue as a Christian theocracy.. and become more so, but why would that necessarily be good? Why does every nation on earth have to fundamentalist this or that, and why is that good? Does that not constrain development rather than encourage it?
Certainly, America could do much better by embracing people of many different religions, ethnicities, lifestyles, etc. That has worked well in the past.
Maybe, and I really mean probably, Christianity is not the solution... taken to its extreme, it is the problem.

Not so fast. Millions of American Christians refused to vote for Bush and are appalled at the antics of his administration. Read the Gospels and you will find that Jesus was not a right-winger in any sense of the word. He was a revolutionary who came down consistently on the side of the poor, the misfits, the outcasts of society. He also said that plenty of people who claimed to be His followers were not: they were "wolves in sheep's clothing."
Please don't be seduced into stereotyping Christians or anybody else. It's always tempting, but it doesn't get you anywhere.

  • Posted By: beccabee @ 01/06/2009 2:30:12 PM

One of the first things you learn in elementary school is that our country was founded on the principle of seperation of church and state. 90-some percent of our population claim to be some form of Christian, yet out of all industrialized nations we have the highest counts of murder, rape, and domestic violence. How do you explain this? Are you seriously saying that all we have to do to fix our problems is just admit we are supposed to be Christian? Wow. Ignorance in this country is so deep.

  • Posted By: sag_wa @ 01/02/2009 6:54:10 AM

America is decaying because we have failed to acknowledge that we are indeed a country founded on judeo/christian principals. We either do not care or do not understand that the enemy of the judeo/christian God will never stop attacking us successfully until we shout from the top of our Government Buildings that we believe in God and it is that belief that has allowed our Country to exist. Non believers exist so comfortably in America because of our judeo/christian principals. We refuse to educate our children about the man Jesus and His followers, we insist what is a faith belief can not be forced upon another, it is a gift, it is personal, it is within. Yet the symbols that are called religious can only be religious if you have faith. So how does the non believer get to tell believers what those symbols mean? So too, believers no longer act upon their belief but on PC and hypocrisy, and America will be no more.

Where were all of you "Christians" when the president you voted for (twice), who you were convinced was a man of God and a moral man, was tearing down our country for greed and profit and doing everything he could do to remove the regulations that protect the health, the safety, and the prosperity of us and our kids so that his buddies and donors could get filthy rich? Where were you while tens of thousands of Americans per year were dieing because they had no health care coverage, which was just fine with your "Godly" president? Where were you when thousands of Iraqi children were being blown to pieces during a war started with the lies of your "born-again" president? Where were you when he was leaving hundreds to die in the streets of New Orleans while he partied it up in San Diego? If you want to know where the problem lies, look in the mirror, you big phony.

"America is decaying because we have failed to acknowledge that we are indeed a country founded on judeo/christian principals."

Really, now? Perhaps, then, you can show me a jury trial in the bible. Thanks.

Robs70 - The US was victorious in Iraq? Really? So we can bring our soldiers home now, right?

I think there is another underreported story about AIDS this year and that is that the huge majority of Africans (and therefore African Americans) have a genetic propensity to acquire AIDS. It is related to a gene which helps to protect a person from malariia. Many people I have tlaked with since the story broke seem to have missed it.

#5: - Falling Coverage on Iraq

The US Military's unprecedented VICTIORY IN IRAQ is really the biggest uncovered newstory of 2008. All you so called journalist should be ashamed of yourselves for not doing your job of reporting the news to the American people. I suppose that when reality conflicts with your LIBERAL BIAS, you ignore it. Perhaps that is why old media is in a free fall?

I definately did not enjoy the "pleasure" of getting to know the Palin's,and I hope to never hear from them again! I think it is pathetic the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan,as well as everywhere else around the globe were not reported on much.

    • Posted By: oldisbetter @ 01/01/2009 2:48:35 PM

No attention whatsoever has been given to all the "new rules" President Bush is tring to get or has gotten put into law that affects all Americans. NO ONE is reporting one these and most of them are harmful to us all. Can you please have reporting done on this?

    An intense light.

    With fine
    manners the
    mask of a child
    invites me to
    cry, when the
    moonlight
    appears; I hear
    a blackbird
    near the sound
    of a small lamp,
    and everything
    shines like
    a terse sensibility.

In response to the comment below, I'd have to disagree. Rather than Religion being the solution to our problems, it is in fact Religion that has probably CAUSED a lot of our current problems. When you have political leaders making decisions based on there "gut feelings" or a calling from God - rather than on logic or common sense - that usually tends to screw things up. America is not decaying because we fail to acknowledge that we should all share Christian beliefs. It is most likely decaying because not enough people have woke up and realized that arguing about Religion, and Obama's birth certificate are exactly the type of things that prevent us from progressing, and solving our problems as a Nation.

    It's the economy s____d.

  • Posted By: 73winchester @ 12/31/2008 6:57:18 PM

The most underreported story is the cheerleading of the press for their chosen candidate, Obama, as they shirked their duty to report fairly and investigate. This disgustingly biased reporting helped Obama win, as he had to pay nothing for the advertising. Further, the press intentionally, or possibly from ignorance, misconstrued things said by John McCain (fundamentals of the economy are sound referred to the American worker and our machine for production, not the Lehman Bros/financial meltdown of which he was aware); ignored the outrageous gaffes by Biden (Roosevelt came on
TV);. They still have failed, disgracefully, to demand that Obama show his birth certificate.

For fair and balance, you need to tune to faux or fox news. You can also listen to Hannity and Rush for fair and objective take on any thing under the sky. They know every thing
