Most of the blogs here, as most of the blogs on Newsvine, are completely ridiculous and only further shed light on why we elected George Bush twice and why we are in a financial quagmire. The stupidity and narrow-mindedness of people, not to mention the total hatred absent any facts (i.e., justwobeers or whatever your name is) is exactly how this country lost its moral center. As long as this mindset continues, we will have exactly what we deserve, stupid people making stupid decisions for the rest of us. You cannot state one single fact to back up your ludicrous assertions, yet you can manage to get on a blog and spew garbage! Makes me sick.

Never underestimate the power of idiots in large numbers!

Interesting that you don't include Hurricane Ike - a REALLY under-reported event that is STILL causing problems for Galveston and other Texas coast communities. Or... are you only including non-American under-reported stories?

Interesting that Southern Baptist churches are often the most prolific in attacking others such as House of Yahweh, The Way, etc. who have a proclivity for pointing out many of the falacies of Christianity. So much for righteousness and truth.

It is rather amazing that Southern Baptists are among the greatest at attacking so called cults such as House of Yahweh, The Way, and others. Accusing them of all sorts of evil activities totally unsubstantiated by actual evidence. Oh well, so much for truth and righteousness.

Another year has passed, and yet no one has investigated Marion Public Schools in Michigan which has: banned board members from their own buildings after they asked for financial information; continued to employ a high school principal who owns a video store from which he rented out adult videos to the public; passed known false board resolutions against the printed documents of county law enforcement and the state superintendent of schools; etc...

Visit highlandwire.org for an introduction to the sad tale.

Sooo right about the Catholic Church. It's ironic that many of the scandals happening in the Protestant sector also occurred in the Catholic Church's history. Scandals that attributed to the splintering of the Church.

Wow, I'm surprised my Larry Sinclair comment was posted. This post is just to announce that it did make it to post, even if it will likely be removed shortly. This just records the fact that it did post at 8:32 pm. Let's see if either that post or this one survive. If they don't, this will simply be further proof of the massive collusion going on in the MSM against carrying the Larry Sinclair story.

And if it do stay, would you come to world of reality and think that stories like this did not had legs and thats why no one (that include Hannity, Rush, Fox News) followedit 24x7

One of the great underreported disasters of the Bush administration is how health-care costs roughly DOUBLED. Think they can double again with Obama (if he serves 8 years)? Both the political left and the right are realizing that one certainty is that we just can't keep going on paying like we have. Something will have to give. Either there will be a real clampdown on costs and structural changes that really step on powerful toes to get unnecessary costs out of the system, or the system will collapse into a third-world model where everything is fee-for-service and people are routinely denied care based on ability to pay. There's an important dividing line in whether health-care is considered a right or a privilege, and Obama gave the correct answer on that one, thankfully, when he was asked in the presidential debate. It's not hyperbole to say that this issue and its resolution will determine whether the U.S. stays a first-world or drops down to a third-world country.

It is absurd to say that health care is a right. Aren't groceries a right??? Can I just walk out of Safeway with my week's groceries without paying, as food seems a "right" (it is not, either) more important than health care.

I think it's interesting #10 was never discussed at length. If the Catholic Church would have reacted to the scandles of 2002 that way the Church would have been ripped to pieces. I think the media sometimes picks on the Catholic Church. This decision by the Southern Baptist Convention is unthinkable and should be brought to people's attention. I applaud the Catholic Church for at least putting programs in place, mandatory screenings, and trainings. I think that should happen even in Protestant denominations.

What other president in history has been investigated by the public prior to becoming president?? None. If you reach the national stage and are already a senator I would it is safe to assume you've had a background check - wouldn't you think?

Ever since Ronald Reagan there's been groups trying to stop every president elect from entering office.

    "5. Iraq Goes Ignored
Though studies vary, 2008 was likely the year when casualties hit the 1 million mark in Iraq. So why are news outlets pulling their correspondents from Baghdad bureaus, and where did all those Iraq headlines go? Ironic, considering that Obama was elected partly on a get-out-of-Iraq platform."

Not surprising that Newsweek would find the negative news the big story in a very positive year for Iraq.

If you want to know why Iraq is no longer covered, let me educate you. Partisan liberals run the news media. These partisan liberals have been opposed to the war and have massaged the news to suit their views. Success in Iraq conflicts with their goals, so they don't cover it any more.

    See how simple that was?

  • Posted By: cabebet @ 12/31/2008 6:25:40 PM

How can somebody say lack of 'investigative journalism'? Do you not realize that the stories have to be supported by enough evidence and have backing from influential people to float? If you stumble on some information that is really not for the public it is concealed by the media because the government has a huge impact on that sector. Try it, report something that is absolutely true but nobody wants to believe like - The Iraq war and our current economy were no accident and see how far that goes - it doesn't matter whats happening or whats important or even what you can prove - reports work the same and make a check the same as everybody else - they report what they are told to and thats just the simple truth.

Unfortunately George Bush's initiative to fight AIDS in Africa is tragically flawed, crippled by its refusal to recommend or distribute condoms there. So it's abstinence, strict monogamy, or god will punish you with AIDS. That's not a serious effort or even an adult perspective on the problem.

Bush only increased troops in Afghanistan because he knew the Republicans were in danger of losing control consigning his party to hell.

Do not forget Rupert Murdoch controlled the media for Bush's initial election. I commend the press for not caving into to the rich and powerful by presenting the good in Obama.

Solar panels need to be exposed for their true flaws. Period.

Iraq is such a mess that there is no clear guarantee of their actions if we pull out or stay. Think people.

The economic imbalance has been overlooked tremendously. Do Americans not think what would happen to American Industry and the United States in general if China decided to call our notes due in full?
