Voldemort: Neither Bush nor Clinton caused the subprime meltdown. Unabated greed and unchecked creativity in the development of financial/securities products in the seam of existing regulation caused the financial crisis. Subprime meltdown is a simplistic catch phrase. Yet, as consumers, we can all understand that you can only loan money too cheaply for so long before the cost and risk collide! Here, you had banks and lenders eagerly loaning funds to people who had no stake in the loss. They failed INTENTIONALLY to properly price the loan for the risk of default/foreclosure because they were bundling these loan products and renaming them and selling them as quasi-securities on the wholesale financial market. This house of cards was not caused by either administration's desire to see an increase in home ownership. Clinton's White House inherited a recession from Bush. When increased home ownership was placed as goal of the administration, the country was in recovery and lending was traditional and reasonable. In the post-911 boom with everyone "believing in America", some greedy folks realized that there gaps in regulations and they could make a fortune doing certain transactions. Loans were extended with very little thought for the overall economic well-being of the country. A lot of this was backroom gambling. The sad thing is that nothing about the bank bailout prohibits this from happening again. I know that something had to be done, but, once again, Republicans and Democrats missed the mark on getting it right.

And our economic crisis was created by deregulation of the Banking industry (Thanks Bush) and a giangantic increase in oil/gas prices due in large part to the war.

If Osama bin Laden was responsible for 911 than why did Bush put most of our military assets in Iraq rather than Afghanistan ? Isn't is it strange that Bush and his father both invaded the same country ? That the accusations against Iraq by Bush were not true ? No one lie Sadam but invading a country changing the government and executing it's leader is a pretty serious thing. And isn't is strange that there is such an intrest in an oil producing country by an oil family ? And didn't the administration say that Iraq's oil money was going to be used to rebuild Iraq ? If so than why is so much of the country without basic utilities ? And the Patriot Act ? ? Sold our Constitutional rights away. And then look at our economy. When Bush took office in 2000 Clinton had left a surplus, look at us now. After record oil profits ( that oil thing again ) our fragile economy started to tumble. Bush has propped it up so we won't go into a depression under his watch but we are going into hard times BECAUSE of Bush.

This isn't a partisan argument first and foremost. Secondly the man is guilty of: War Crimes, Crimes against peace (NOT humanity), and openly opposes the International Criminal Court which is only also opposed by China and Israel. The list of offenses is too long to fit in this box so I'll let you look them up and decide on your own. One could write a much longer and more objective fact based article about this than this "fluff" article. I wonder why nobody in major media has, hmmmmm? That's all. Back to subjective partisan arguments, flexing our vocabulary muscle, and blind nationalism.

I think he got the address to the whitehouse right after four years , he also got his photo ops right but was held hostage by rising fuel prices that even he believed could'nt be done. He got wall streeet wrong about who was drunk? I don't really know as what has happend since october 08 has overshadowed anything he did right. He tried to protect the US but all the wrong ways and broke constitutunal law to get there.

It will be interesting to see what the Bush legacy is 100 years from now. Now I'm not doing a direct comparison but Abe Lincoln during and quite some time after his presidency was hated by a vast majority of Americans. Only relatively recently gave him credit for what he did. Maybe there will be some unexpected good consequences from the Bush plan. I'm interested to see what could happen. Now I'm not defending him just saying perhaps this happened earlier in history. Oh and by the way our economic crisis was created by people living beyond their means... this problem created well before Bush.

If the complete lack of integrity is getting something right, the lying ba__rds of the Bush team win. B/c it isn't, he and they were a complete failure. And btw he isn't a wartime president! The WAR was initiated thru WMD that were a figment of his imagination. And a lack of intelligence should not be confused with a lack of integrity...the intel community told them there were no WMD but Cheney via Bush lied to expand their profiteering from the military industrial complex. And the Cheney Energy Policy destroyed the World Economy. As an encore Bush pilfered the U.S. Treasury and funnelled the National Wealth to himself and his cohorts thru his banker friends via Paulson. May they all burn with their money in Hell.

I think what we will find even 10 years from now, after the Savior has not come yet, that he got more criticism and denigration than he deserved. I hate MSN, and the loony left. George Bush was no Republican. Forget Iraq for a moment, and just consider how much big government and socialistic stuff has been slathered on the American people by his administration. Here's a little clue - George Bush has acted more like a "Democrat" than a "Republican" - the fact is there is no longer any real difference between the two parties.
