What simply amazes me about this election cycle is that people either don't have a clue, don't care, or don't care that they don't have a clue. President Bush's two terms were an example of something that could've have been really good, but turned out just good, because of the liberal press, idiot liberal and progressives in this country, and some of those good old fashioned pesky unknown events that seem to creep up in life.

It doesn't matter if you're a liberal or conservative, it seems that your opponent must always see everything coming or you're an idiot. My God, can some of you just simply accept the fact that when your in charge of something as big as the U.S. Government, that certain events happen without you knowing they're coming and you have to make the best decision you can at the time, without the benefit of hindsight?!

History in the future will treat him well!! In spite of all the horse manure that has clogged the news channels, the drivel out of Hollywoood make-believe-creators, and the anti-american spewings of Move-On.org and similar ilk, he has held a steady course and kept this country and our people safe. He has not sullied the Office of the Presidency with unacceptable moral behavior shortcomings as did his predecessor -- but of course he was a Democrat and a liberal darling, so all is forgiven!. President Bush has kept the interest of the country uppermost while sacrificing his own popularity as it was being destroyed by malcontents and those who think they always know better. I would rather see ten terrorists water-boarded for information than one American killed by a terrorist attack. God help us now!

The only thing Bush did right was hide out in Crawford more than before he was "elected". He is welcome to go back in 4 days and a wake-up. Hurrah for our Constitution that rids us of boneheads before they destroy the planet..

The reply of janisjoplin is just your standard response of the individuals who think that everything that is wrong in the world can be blamed on one person. By the way the screen name you choose says plenty about the type of person you obviously are, let me guess you are upset with the fact that you missed your chance at woodstock or you actually were there and think it is great to worship a singer who drank herself to death. The ingnorance to think that today's media doesnt have a biased is silly. So please go out and buy yourself a big bottle of Jack Danials and get all of your medication together and down them all so you can go hang out with Janis.

    • Posted By: janisjoplin @ 01/15/2009 1:40:04 PM

And your judging me based on a ficticious name I used to protect myself from being targeted by right-wing, 2nd ammendment praising lunatics? I'm only 34- so I have no opinion on woodstock, and I'm no hippie either (not that there's anything wrong w/that!) Why don't you move past my name and learn to listen to what I have to say vs. who's saying it? I said- W is an idiot, and I don't say that because the media says so, I say that because W has demonstrated so... time and time again! I know some people just can't admit when they're wrong, so if you feel better protecting the joke of a president you probably helped to elect- go ahead & do so. Don't need to worry about me and what kind of music my dad listened to when I was a kid!

People continue to blame the media for the negative portrayal of "W"- but the media is only responsible for showing us the ignorance that is George W Bush. I am grateful that I live in the greatest country in the world, and that I am not given only filtered down versions that the government wants me to see and believe. This is a case of- you???ve made your bed??? I've seen many instances where ???W??? himself created this negative perception, so much so that Webster's can now add a new word- "Bushism" Definition- any comment or incomplete sentence that is unintelligible, unintelligent, and/or ignorant. The media didn't make him cheat his way through every school he ever attended, they only highlight the great probability that he did!

    • Posted By: johokeda @ 01/15/2009 1:39:59 PM

So, Bushism wil still be over shadowed by "Pull a CLinton". Bushism at least has some honor to it.

  • Posted By: JONABALDWON @ 01/15/2009 1:39:27 PM

ALL YOU GET FROM ANY MEDIA IS A GOOD STORY. MY UNCLE ALBERT ALWAYS SAID, "NEVER LET THE TRUTH GET IN THE WAY OF A GOOD STORY"....... GOD HELP US, WERE IN DEEP S***!!!!!!!!

Sure, President had his problems, his mistakes, etc...but what makes him so awful?? Consider this:
    l. If he was so awful ,why did the American people vote for President bush to office, not once, but twice? Get real!
    2. If people are angry because Bush pulled them into war, would they not have been more angry if
he had not responded to 911 with a show of power, when everyone was screaming for revenge?
Since when has anyone been able to "carry on a dialogue" with terrorists or insurgents? Get real!
    3. Sure, understandable about wanting to leave Iraq as soon as posible, but did they want another Viet Nam war
where we lost? All died for nothing? The fact that we are still in Iraq means we won: Saddam out, yet takes time
to establish a new government, army, infrastructure, a new democracy, which they have done!!!! Awsome! We are
there til the new government is more stable. Our problem now is simply with terrorist, insurgents...not the Iraqi people!
    democracy. Get real!
    4. Most important...no attacks since 911!! Would we not all rather keep our battles oversees and not in our own
    backyard??? Get real!
    5. The economy? Blame corruption of CEO's, fraululant practices, out of control rising home prices, etc, and last,
a bi-partisan congress who looked out for their own interests. It takes two to tangle, the president and a
a Congress that would work together for the interests of the American people we would have won TOGETHER!
    Get real!
Get real people....judge the man fairly in thel light of history! I give him a "B" and + for effort!

I almost fell out of my chair when I saw a positive headline connected to President Bush. I bet this poor writer is being fired as I type this. I always remind myself and others - in the first 9 months of Bush's first term 9/11 happened. In the first 9 months of his second term - Katrina hit. Kerry and Gore better both thank their lucky stars that they didn't get the job. And I agree with the last comment of how difficult it must be to work with a Democrat-controlled-Congress that probably loathes his very presence. I voted for Bush two times - I didn't always agree with things he did and truly wished he would have controlled spending like a good Conservative - but I found comfort in that we always knew where he stood. I have a feeling that we will see many "changes" on directions, platforms and decisions in the next President. I believe his principles will be heavily influenced on what's politically correct or popular. I wish President Bush and his family all the best.

Under the Bush Administration, about 36 countries, including India, can get 10 years tax free businesses when money is brought into this country. Then, business owners wait, then swap businesses with a family member to go another 10 years tax free. So it is a great deal for the government and the banks but leaves the middle class to pay for the taxes that the store and business owners do not pay. The immigrants that came in the turn of the century got no breaks and still have no breaks. The African Americans received no restitution for their slavery. The American Indians have to sue to get land rights because their land was stolen from them. The eskimos are forgotten.

brydges: I have no doubt that you'll find your future. Face it....we've already done it once with Reagan. I know he did play his part in helping to end the cold war.... but I couldn't believe all of the hype about what a great leader he was once he died. I'm not normally one to pick on the dead...but am I the only one that remembered what a fiasco Reaganomics turned out to be? (Seems really familiar right now.)

    • Posted By: wilder @ 01/15/2009 1:32:11 PM

What a "fiasco Reaganomics turned out to be", are smoking crack?! What a fiasco Caternomic would have been?! You think things are bad now, what about 21% interest rates on home loans? Get a $%^&*( clue what you're talking about!

Bushes sorry legacy tells it all!! Except for a few things.....which were WAY overshaowed by 8 years of all the irresponsible things, he was an awful president. I gave him an F. Don't run for preident if you are going to be a stubborn, ignorant, maverick! The job of president should be an honor and not abused.

For a few miserable decades of oil production we have over the years compromised ourselves, our lives, and our liberties. We armed the very people that we had to remove from power, and now we spend billions to maintain security in a land we should never have stuck our noses in the first place. In exchange now for that security we erode our constitution and have disempowered the working class of the United States. It's never been worth it to ordinary Americans to be there, but only to those who profit from perpetual war and death. The new generation of Americans is well aware of this and has elected for change. But things are such a mess I wonder if they will choose to continue Social Security for their progenitors that exercised greed over values.

This is one of the few pro-Bush articles I've ever read. It seems the press has done their best to paint the worst picture, true or un-true, of Gearge W. Bush. He is not a flamboyant president, there have been no scandals, he has done his job (no matter how thankless the american press have been) and made decisions based on need and not popularity. Maybe if Clinton had spent more time doing HIS job than doing MS. Lewinsky et al, we might never have had a 9/11. We will never no. We will however know that no other attacks took place on American soil during the remainder of Bush's presidency. He may not have won the popularity poll but he got the job done. He made some mistakes along the way but he protected the American people. The fuel prices, inflation and ultimate crash of the stock market has been coming far longer than Bush has been in office. I agree with the author of this article that the incoming president should review the history of the last 16 years before changing the wrong things.

People from India and about 36 other countries get a 10 year tax-free break when they bring money into America and open a business. Then, they pass on the business to a relative or swap businesses with others to go another 10 years tax free. So the local homeowners bear the burden. Meanawhile the businesses want you to pay cash and pay sales tax, which may or may not be forwarded if it is a cash sale - and they don't pay taxes for thier own businesses. So where is the justice for Americans who have paid and are paying taxes all these years or the immigrants who had to struggle or the African Americans who were never given restitution for their slavery or the Escimos or the American Indians? George W opened Pandora's Box by doing this with no resolution to the end of the 10 year on passed around tax breaks. It works for the government and the banks but not the middle class family with increased home taxes.

"Change is just a cliche`. There will always be up and downs during anyone's presidency. Bush Rocks. The world will never be perfect. We have to work together and just deal with it and treat everyone with kindness. It is the American people who separate anyone or anything. ^5 to wilder
