Also, what about the fairly massive amount of money that Bush put into Africa to fight AIDs? Just last years payment was more than the Clinton administration put into Africa his entire two terms in office. Go into Africa where the aid has been applied, and ask them what they think of Bush. Anyone that doesn't like Bush won't like the answer.

First two of total three are correct, in third comment forming an alliance with Suni's and similar need be built in Afghanistan with help of Pakistan will not be right. Because learning all muslim cultures from Sunni's, Shia, Pashtun and Kurdish, all are different. Although concept is right, the operation has to be different. For example if Osama was in protection of Shia's, by now twenty five million bounty for dead and alive would have gotten him, but amongst Pashtu (pasnhtoon and some Sunni tribes) any one hwo will get twenty five milllion will be wiped out of earth for not treating his guest next to god, so no one has come out and no one may. So again as I advised outgoing president, new administration needs to study and then act amongst different religion and cultures instead of taking Western Society imprompto lessons and try to apply every place. Thanks for accepting the comment.

I agree with Kev. President Bush (yes, PRESIDENT BUSH not MR Bush or Bush) got blind sided by the events of Sept 11. Im sure he wasnt planning on changing his plans so soon after taking office. The terrorist attacks changed everyones plans. katrina was not the fault of the President, the economy never really soured until Obama showed up (the media made sure of that) and now as Kev says, the media is saying "oh, President Bush DID do some good while in office. Hmmmmm! And now the new "president" has brought on the entire Clinton administration. I have always admired G.W. Bush for how he has handled his past and I allthough yes there were mistakes, I think history will show that some of President Bushes choices will in fact help the U.S.A. and the entire world.

I agree Peabody, and have they all forgotten that all the Democrats voted for the war in Iraq.

Now that Mr. President Bush will be leaving Office, I find it funny that the liberal media in this country is finally writting about some of the good the President has done.

I beilieve that George Busch did very well as a President of the United States of America, and I strongly applaude him. To make extremely difficult decisions at short notices is not easy for any one. Many times I have been put under the "gun" so to speak in making life or death decisions for my mother. I was severely pressured to making the wrong decisions, not what my heart and gut told me. Long story short, my mother had several unnecessary surgeries that she would have been better off not having. She is now in a nursing home for close to a year, and begs me daily to come home. I cannot take proper care of her, (nor could the nursing home, however better than I could have because of my surgery gone bad to my back.)
President Busch did, I know and believe, has made the best decisions he could have at that time. I do not believe another president would have chose diffrently, but let us give him a really bad rap for what the media thinks was the presidents wrong decision. I applaude you again, Mr. President Busch for doing a teriffic job while in office.
    Sincerely,
    Weslene Thompson

Dear Lady, our hearts go out to you and your Mother..
Before Mr. Bush took office I had health insurance and steady work. Today I cannot afford health insuance to finance the care my wife's needs, (sha has parkinson's), nor can I help with fundinding the college educatoin of our three deserving children. Now, I suggest that you put yourself in my place. Why in God's name would I applaud Mr. Bush after I see all I've worked for is slowly but definitely evaporating before my eyes under his watch.
I can only assume that you and yours must be people of some means. Good for you.

    Scienceprof;
Ann Coulter places all of the sins of society at the feet of single mothers. Are we to assume that every single mother is a democrat?? What's her point? I'm sure there are thousands of Republican single moms out there. I can guarantee you there are plenty of single moms in those red states that McCain won like Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virginia. Coulter is just a hate mongering hag. The Republican's emmatiated attack dog. She tries to insinuate that only Democrats are single moms. Only Democrats are on welfare. Only Democrats want higher taxes on the wealthy. Its just not true yet its her job in the party to promote those lies.

who got us in to this mess??? who???? Might want to look into Mr. Barney Frank a wee bit. and by the way when liberals scream, " Hitler! Hatemongers! ignorant! stupid! Vile!" at the consevatives when they dont agree with you. You appear to be what you accuse: narrow minded and ignorant.

      • Posted By: mathattack @ 01/17/2009 12:40:12 PM

I'm a liberal, and I actually agree with you. Scary! Calling people names doesn't do anything for me. How about some good, solid, evidence? I think there's plenty you can use to prove your point, winner4life.

Ok Lauriesarno--The electoral college was put in place by our founding fathers so states that have a small population would still count--as far as stealing--why because "your guy lost"? quit whining I can hear you way over here!!

    • Posted By: mathattack @ 01/17/2009 12:35:18 PM

That's not true. The electoral college was put into place because the Founding Fathers were scared that the people would vote to take away their wealth, among other reasons.
A lot of people think of the founders as gods, but they weren't. They were deafeningly human--making human mistakes, having human greed, and hiding human secrets. They weren't perfect......who is?

    • Posted By: jwalker8680 @ 01/15/2009 2:04:44 PM

Gore didn't lose... Bush's friends in FL delayed long enough for the Supreme court to appoint him president. That's not whining... that's just fact.

The similarities between Bush and Lincoln are uncanny. Both were immensely unpopular, except by the military. They had an almost fanatical calling, Lincoln to preserve the union, Bush to combat terrorism. They both had the unbelievable will power to put on blinders and let nothing detract them from their mission.

Lincoln was never fully appreciated until long after his death. Although Bush will live to see the end of his presidency, it will be long after his death, that he is fully appreciated.

    • Posted By: mathattack @ 01/17/2009 12:19:35 PM

As someone said up above, Lincoln was only unpopular because the nation was divided in half. And Lincoln was being closely watched by the North, since there was so much uncertainty. Lincoln was in quite a tight spot--if he attacked the South, the Northeners would repeal their approval, and the 6 or so states in the center of the country would secede along with the South. If he didn't attack the South, the soldiers on Fort Sumpter would starve to death. Somehow, he had to come up with something that would please the North, save the soldiers on Fort Sumpter, and hopefully wouldn't cause all of the states in the middle to leave the Union. So he wasn't exactly in an easy situation when the Civil War started. And it wasn't his fault that the South seceded--it was because their economy "depended" on slaves, and they didn't want to be humane if it didn't benefit them.
So maybe he wasn't popular during his term, but HE DID THE RIGHT THING. Unlike Bush, who's been unpopular and HASN'T done the right thing.

    • Posted By: Outragedallthe time @ 01/15/2009 3:04:13 PM

ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE - Lincoln WAS appreciated by the end of the Civil War (at least by the north) and mourned greatly. I've seen Mr Bush, and Mr Bush is no Lincoln

I JUST LEFT AND CAME BACK AND YOUR STILL HERE TALKING ABOUT STUFF WAY OVER YOUR MENTAL CAPACITY......Dude seriuosly--you don't have a clue....you are in that group that thinks that the Republican Party is to blame for EVERYTHING.....that way you can be on the "winning team" --That's really immature.....Everyone IGNORE JWALKER--HE'S A MORON!!!

    • Posted By: mathattack @ 01/17/2009 12:03:18 PM

Okay, mngsears, what did you just accomplish by calling jwalker a moron? Nothing, really. Except it shows that you'll sink pretty low to insult someone. You can get a lot more differences resolved if you treat your "opponent" with respect. You know what I mean. FInd out what they want, tell them what you want, compromise, etc. Use your leadership skills, not your "I'm a middle-schooler and the only words I know are either swear words and petty insults" skills. Believe me, I know the latter way too well.

    • Posted By: jwalker8680 @ 01/15/2009 2:51:25 PM

FYI: I was on the now winning team LONG before Bush was APPOINTED president the first time. My references are facts that can easily be looked up... Not opinion, propoganda and slant like the Republican party has been spewing for the last 8 years. As for my intelligence, my IQ was tested at 158 over 10 years ago and I completed graduate school with 3.9GPA while working 45 hours a week unlike your C+ president.

  • Posted By: ofourearth @ 01/17/2009 11:51:29 AM

In my opinion, and for desparetly obvious reasons, the author of this piece is as out of touch with reality just as much as Bush and Cheney have been. Do you sir own stock in Halliburton and Blackwater? Reading your three accolades only brings more fear, and it is obvious that the political powers to be will rule by these means for a long time to come.
The Iraq INVASION was not just a mistake. The DEREGULATION of banking practices and environmental policies were not a mistake. The Katrina debacle was not a mistake.
I could gone on for another eight years, but I have to go find another JOB!!!

THANK YOU MR PRESIDENT AND OUR GREAT AND WONDERFUL BRAVE SOLDIERS. Comments
In the years since terrorists attacked us , President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran, and, North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. Thankfully after 9/11 President Bush and our Great Soldiers have prevented another attack on American soil by taking the war back to SADDAM,THE GODFATHER OF ISLAMIC STATE-SPONSORED TERRORISM.

Those of us that love American and the freedom that we have can never thank you enough!!!!! More truth at: http://www.commandments.us No matter how many peaceful Muslims there may be, they are no protection from the Terrorist Muslim leaders and what they are fanatically bent on doing -- by their own pronouncements -- killing all of us "infidels." I don't blame the peaceful Muslims. What would you do if the choice was shut up or die? So who are we at war with? There is no way we can honestly respond that it is anyone other than the Muslim terrorists.

Trying to be politically correct and avoid verbalizing this conclusion can well be fatal. There is no way to win if you don't clearly recognize and articulate who you are fighting. We can definitely lose this war, and as anomalous as it may sound, the major reason we can lose is that so many of us simply do not fathom the answer to the second question: What does losing mean? It would appear that a great many of us think that losing the war means hanging our heads, bringing the troops home and going on about our business, like post Vietnam. This is as far from the truth as one can get. What losing really means is: We would no longer be the premier country in the world. The attacks will not subside, but rather will steadily increase. Remember, they want us dead, not just quiet. If they had just wanted us quiet, they would not have produced an increasing series of attacks against us over the past 18 years. The plan is clearly for terrorists to attack us, until we are neutered and submissive to them, If we lose the war, our production, income, exports and way of life will all vanish as we know it. The Muslims fully know what is riding on this war, and therefore are completely committed to winning, at any cost. We'd better know it too!!

Saddam ran a secular government. That's why his neighbors hated him. What's more, WE armed him in the 1980s.
