What happened to Americans supporting their President and showing respect for him simply for taking on the countries responsibilties and most difficult job one could ever have. No one man could get everything right or make everyone happy. He went with the information, weighed it, and made decesions just like we do everyday in our own llives . Maybe t America is considered to be less a great country by others in the world because we show no support for our leader and are so busy critizing that other are jjumping on our ban wagon. Also think about this...what good is job growth, healthcare and anything else we say our President has ruined if we are no longer free and under the rule of others? A President first duty to the people is to keep them safe and free, Bush has done that!

I definitely agree. We won't know where Bush ranks for years. I believe when we see where terrorism is in the next ten years we will be able to more justly rank President Bush. How can we start ranking when there is no other situation that has been faced by a President that compares to 9/11. We live in a very different world now.
I remember my father did not care for JFK, but I also remember that we were taught to respect our President even though we disagreed. Something many of us need to revisit, including our news outlets.
I did not vote for President elect Obama, but he will soon be my President and I respect that office. I will look for the good and kindly disagree when it's not so good. Most of all, whoever is our President, we need to pray for their wisdom and their safety.

      1) Hasn't been a threat of being ruled by others since we declared our independance.
      2) If we blindly supported our leaders we wouldn't be the USA we woud be a colony of England.
      3) We don't expenct anyone to get everything right... but more than 2 things in 8 years would be nice. (I'm not giving him the surge since that was just him trying to fix his mistake).

thank president bush...for what? he ruined this nation (not single handly i'm sure i will give him the benefit of the doubt there) but still he is a bumbling stumbling moron. send him back to texas give him some coke and a fishing pole and let him live the rest of his life there and he can reminisce about the 1000's upon 1000's of innocent lives he wasted worldwide.

FYI: The Dems have only had a majority in Congress since 2007, the very tail end of this horrible presidency... and a majority of what they tried to do/fix has been filibustered and vetoed.

I want to first Thank President Bush for eight years; good, bad or ugly it is what it is. I know going in he was head in the right direction to get Bin Laden and get out. He is the core leader of Jihad. He should have kill him when he had the chance instead of wounding him. (I don't believe for a minute that *** and bull story out how they was ready to take him out and the rebels they were with turn on them, so Bin Laden escape into Pakinstain) He should have went in took care of him; giving the message walk tall and carry and very big stick.

It seems to me that one of the major things this guy got right was that he would be elected, then re-elected, whether this was just dumb optimism or some sort of manipulation of the voting system by the group that put him in that position I don't know; but following current events as I have been these seem to be the two areas that he got it right in.

My problem with George is the perception of ignorance, He may very well be a nice guy but does not seem presidential.
My ideal president has confidence without arrogance, someone who is thought full and willing to accept his mistakes as new information comes through. Had he modified his approach to Iraq as it became evident that WMD did not exist or recognized the economic problems and was honest and forthcoming about where the ecionomy was at, would have gone a long way in gaining my respect. There seems to be this feeling that a president has to make a decision and stick with it no matter what. Eveything Bush did wasn't wrong, it just feels that way. Had he exhibited more common sense and less hubris we would all be viewing the last eight years differently

Frum, you need to get out more, I've been to Latin America several times over the past 8 years. I can tell you in all candor and honesty, Bush is absolutely disrepected and hated in that region. My Spanish isn't the best, kind of like at a 4th grade level, but when I consistently read signs and posters spread far and wide, from the small cities to the metropolitan areas of Latin American, indicating BUSH-TERRISMO or TERRISMO-BUSH, I can tell you that Latin Americans have absolutely no respect for him. Bush has managed to portray himself as a Terrorist of these United States. Great legacy! Bush should be so proud!

Posted By: JBWI @ 01/15/2009 3:32:35 PMSo what's wrong with waterboarding the bad guys?

When we waterbord the bad guys what makes us any better then them? And before you even think it, Yes, I am willing to give my life to protect the freedom of this country from it's enemies. It's so sad that some of this countries enemies even call themselves "Americans", but we must protect even them, because that's what this country was founded on.

President Bush got put in a lose lose situation with 911. I thnk he did the right thing. We cannot turn the other check to terrorists. Do you think Obama is going to have it easy? He messes up on one thing and everyone will want him out of office. Do any of you think you can do it better, than you should have ran for president. Our financial problems are partly our own and partly the big wigs that own these finance companies that do not think they should have to earn their money but have it given to them in the form of a bailout. They haven't changed one thing since the bailout. They still party and live like kings and queens. We are the only ones that will suffer. When the government finally figures that out, than we will get help. But as long as our government is hiding under the rug ignoring the real problems or partying with the big wigs we are not going to see any improvement in our economy. I don't Obama doing anything to help us either so why blame Bush. He is only human. Only GOD can help us at this point.

Some people need to understandfirst that america haelped get saddam into power, we therefore had to remove him. second the mayor and governor botched katrina by not seeking federal assistance quickly enough, that is not the presidents fault, As far as the economy goes, the laws allowing the deregulation that led to our cuurent problems were passed durring Clinton's presidency not bush's. The methods bush used to fight the economic problems are the same ones that have been working for the last 150 years and the have probably kept this situation from being much worse. As far as stem cell research goes, As someone involved in Biology i can tell you, A. that there is no law limiting stem cell research with the exception of human cloning. B. the federal goverment will not FUND EMBRIONIC stem cell research using stem cells generated after a certain date in the 1990's. this is really not a problem since embrionic stem cell not only have not been shown to have any possitive effects but tend to cause tumor growth. and lastlythe issue of torture. Do you honestly believe that if someone has knowledge of a nuclear bomb in the US that we should just let it go if they dont want to talk. Do you not care about the people that would die painfull and horrible deaths? Even though the constitution was written for americans think about the punnishment used after that were still considered valid, such as , tar and featherind, whipping.

Thank you for your comment. How convenient that people feel inclined to blame our president for the failings of many elected, appointed and volunteer citizens. We hire the president to make the difficult calls in the most extreme of situations and then hurl abuse at him when he appears to make a bad move or fails, in hindsight, to attack a problem in the most direct manner. All we can ask of the president is that he apply himself fully to the position we elected him to serve. If we want to change the world, we need to start with ourselves. The government does not exist for the purpose of handing out a free ride or distancing us from the problems at hand. What have we done, as citizens of this country, to address the area of human need and suffering? Why do endless streams of sck and troubled people line the walls of our hospitals in the poorest f neighborhoods? Who do you know that is hungry right now?

George W. Bush is a money hungry man. From the beginning he has let the corporations run america and made billions with the oil industry. He has lied straight to our faces so many times. The reason why there were no WMD's found is because none existed and were never searched for in the first place. Don't dismiss this because THE NEWS told you what they were doing. THE NEWS and all media alike are under complete control of the government. THEY tell you what They want you to hear. The entire Iraq war is based on lies and oil. OIL. Over half a million Americans dead over a NON-RENEWABLE RESOURCE. And notice that EVEN after securing that much oil the prices went higher. Thats his deal with the oil companies. He Hoardes the oil and then has a joint operation with the oil companies to jack prices and drain everyones money into THEIR pockets. The funny thing is (sad rather) is that this plan backfired. The high oil prices cut down on travel, which cut down on spending, and eventually led to a stock market crash and a recession. Choose to read this or not. choose to believe this or not. its your choice but all i know is that this man destroyed america for his own wealth.

And where do you get this information from?

      • Posted By: Shamus651 @ 01/15/2009 3:33:46 PM

Everyware claymak. Look around you. pay attention to things. if your wondering what my significant news source is well im sorry i dont have one. The news will never tell you about these things. there are no credentials to what i've said and you know why? its personal observation. All of the actions someone makes, no matter how they try to cover it up, they come together and they form an observation.not everyone has there eyes open wide enough to make these observations and even more are blinded by being lied to. Dont trust the news unless your looking for sports and weather because politics is all fake. They report what there told and the information they're given. what makes you think that politicans are saints and would never lie to the american public? What makes you think that the most powerful people in the world wont lie to get more money and a higer status. There is good and bad in everything and politics bring out the bad because of two greedy desires, Money and Power.

Geo W. Bush served us fairly well, but he failed to match givernment spending with incomed. He has put this country into a downwward spiral. He has ruined the Republican Pary's hope for the next decade. We will have Socialism along with the economic recovery program the we need now.. FDR showed the way, now we are destined to follow. Reagan fathered big spending without raising taxes. "W" showed us the full fuition of this false policy. Americans know that you have to pay for these foolish, wasteful policies. A go it alone war is not what Geo H.W. Bush showed us. He didn't get bogged down for seven years. He was the better Bush. Damn, we need a conservative like Bill Clinton that actually balanced the budget. Too Bad we didn't get Hillary. Now we will Pay. and Pay, and Pay.

So what's wrong with waterboarding the bad guys?

  • Posted By: archeangeluriel @ 01/15/2009 3:32:22 PM

I like a good many people. I like George Bush, I like Bill Clinton. Both made some major mistakes, but in the end I feel like they are good men working hard to make the best decisions they possibly can while walking on thin ice. It is sad that so many of us will jump on board to hate one or the other when we ourselves might have done a much more lousy job. In the end I stand by my belief that less government is best. Democrats have an answer for everyone, but sadly most of their ideas include more government in our daily lives. I want to fail, I want to learn, and I want others to do the same. When we first came to this new settlement and stole our lives from what we labeled British tyrany we could agree that our patriotism was rooted in our security in ourselves to take a stand and succeed. These days its seems like no one has the balls to own up to our own mistakes, take the punishment, and leave the government out of it. I feel demeaned by Democrats. They want to support those in poverty, whence many stay in poverty. They want to make more jobs for Americans, because Americans are too ignorant to drag their ass down the road and apply themselves for one. Today we live in a nation that babies us. Atleast George Bush didn't give in and give us the pacifier. Atleast he gave us something to get upset about, to have an opinion. For God Sake people wake up. It really is not the presidents fault the world is falling apart. We have checks and balances. Who did you vote on for senator, govenor, or mayor?Blame it all on one person. Pull the stick out of your own eye. We are the problem. We have lost faith, in ourselves, in God, in currency, in our neighbors. For all those who hate George W. Bush do something about it. Otherwise you are no better than him.

"The closer BO gets to power, the more he sounds and acts like GWB, on policy, and the media thinks thats great now that it is BO! they are a bunch of original thinkers!"

Actually... I think you got that backwards... If you recall all the speeches and arguments during the campaining it was often said "Even Bush is on board with this now" showing how Bush made several comments in support of some Obama policies. I think it was either a coat tail moment or an attempt to use his negative equity to make Obama look bad.

Oh yes... I remember walking by a bank once and a couple of guys dragged me in and told me I HAD to take out a loan that I couldn't afford. As they forced me to sigh the paperwork at gun-point, the told me that President Clinton had ordered all the banks to do this. Nothing presonal, just a presidential order that would insure all the banks in the country would fail. The bank prisedent told me as he stamped the paperwork and took all the money from my walet, President Clinton knew from a dream that the son of Bush Sr. would be running soon and he was determined to do anything to make him look bad, even if he had to destroy the country to do it. The bank presedent looked at his paper work and figured he had filled his government mandated quota, pulled out a gun and blew out his brains. So many others have the same story of how the government forced them to take out loans they couldn't afford. It's so sad.

And that, boys and girls, is tonights bedtime story... Tommorow I'll tell you the story of how the WMD fairy made all of Sadam's weapons dissapear while he was asleep one night.

    Goodnight children.
