This is one of the things that makes America great, personnal freedoms. We do not need additional governmental control on our choices. Let us make mistakes. It makes us stronger. If it kills us than the stronger/smarter survive! It's a clear example of Darwinism.

As I stated earlier, I made a personal decision to make healthier lifestyle choices...I also stated that if people are truly happy suffering through bad health issues because of their own lifestyle decisions, then let them live with it; choices like these should never be mandated...people either want to or they don't. I am a democrat and proudly helped in the cause to vote for President-elect Barack Hussein Obama. You and many others can put your paranoid fears to rest...the DNC will not tell you what you can or cannot do...but, with so many USA workers sitting on the sidelines because of the failed economic policies of the GOP, healthcare is no longer an option or a personal choice...we need to change our healthcare system...look at the shambles it is in right now. People working for subsistent wages, cannot afford health insurance, cannot afford to feed and clothe their families...not because of personal choice, but because of livable wage jobs being outsourced. Where are you coming up with the notion that our govt. will pay for everything...if you would lose your job, and could not find another job for quite a while...wouldn't you need some kind of healthcare coverage? Just think, all of this economic mess created by the blundering GOP...and yet you insist on blaming Obama and he isn't even in office yet??? You have a truly pitiful argument.

We can not expect legalism to be the answer our problems. God's Word has indicated we are not able to live right on our own power. If we sin a little sin it's still sin, the consequences in this life may not be as great but it still seperates us from God. If the sin is great it will cause more harm in this life to oneself or to others and it seperates us from God. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then why call it a pigeon.

It should be obvious to all that we are hurting and killing ourselves, however, what will it take to change directions? Only if we are willing to face and accept the truth that Jesus died to save us from sin. And how is the government going to save anyone when the government is a body made up of human individuals who are just as prone to making bad decisions as anyone else. The evidence is all around. Was this question to get to the heart of what troubles the human life in existence or some other motive?

this is the stupidest article I ever read. Like people do not know that certain things are bad for them. We do not want the government to tell us what to think. If we want to eat food that tastes great but shortens our lives 1 year, then that is our decision.

We should not be told what is "bad" or "good". Just state the facts and the rest we can judge on our own.

the Declaration Of Independence says that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with inalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. If we give the government the power over us .....the government in power may decide whether we even have the right to life, liberty etc.

The government has our best interests at heart??? What world are you living in??? Get real, if it wasn't for the media, we would know even less than we already do about what our so-called "public servants are actually up to.
