So how about we start by NOTspending (the record amount of) $150 Million on an Inaugeral Ball while 300 Million American's are losing their homes and 2 1/2 Million Americans are losing their jobs? Why not just drop it down a notch and at least act like we care the world is at war and the economy is in the tank? Yathink? Maybe then I'll believe he believes in change for the betterment of America rather than change for the betterment of himself.....

I do not believe that one needs to be a political or economist expert to understand that things obviously are not going to be easy at all for the President-elect, but does that reality entails that he won't be able to stabilize and mark a positive change in the country's economic stand? I would say no and every American should think realistically about it instead of expressing that sense of pessimism enemies of change share. President Obama his team are well aware of the need to lower expectations and I am pretty sure they will handle things more efficiently to put America back on tracks.

Looks like Bill "Judas" Richardson has to be added to the constantly growing list below. Who's next??? Most likely Homobama and MicHELLe themselves...

HR- Even though you have been posting these types of comments since last February and even though you have commented many times that I am naive and out of touch, I feel no ill towards you...BUT, the time has come for you to accept the reality that Barack Obama is going to be president and there is nothing you or anyone else can do to stop that. Please, stop embarassing yourself and the Republican party with your comments. If you are going to post anything at all here, at the very least, post something with merit.

Pia, you are showing your ignorance. Fineman is a liberal defender of the MSM and OBAMA, who is trying to rationally lower expectations of all the hundreds of promises and polictical realities of the goverment and world. Your Bush hate has blinded you to the facts. The most glaring example is the most inexperienced corrupt PresElect has turned his back on a Honorable elected official like Mr. Burris. The Dems created this mess and are wallowing in the muck. Good ole Chicago politics! Keep on rationalizing on all the screwed up choices Obambi will make.

    • Posted By: lisarae38 @ 01/04/2009 3:34:57 PM

Richardson has done exactly what an honorable man should do to protect President Obama (dont that have a nice ring to it?) from the likes of nasty, negative, and ignorant people such as yourself. Would you have preferred him to slither around in the grass much like John McCain did re: the Keating Five, or come out of the closet before any permanant damage is done? Go to church holyman, you certainly need some spiritual guidence, but it sounds like it might be too late.

All I can say is give Obama one chance damn he haven't even made it into the white house America gave Bush 8 years and look how this country came out screwed up. We got more people unemployed then a poor 3rd world country. At least give Obama 4 years before you start running your mouth about the failures he will bring. I see the republicans and the greatest pimp daddy president George Bush brought America to its knees with this economy crisis. Don't blame the solutions (Obama) blame the problem (Republicans and Bush).

I am afraid that I must take issue with the type of campaign that President-elect Obama ran. Admittedly, there were abject failures on the part of the both candidates, the Obama strategy of promising to be all things to all people does not lend itself to honesty and virtue, rather to disappointment and failure. The true hope of this nation lies in the general populace ultimately holding our elected officials accountable, not only for their actions, but also for their words which inspire us to support them, regardless of which side we choose to stand.

HolyRoller, the hatred spewing from you is pitiful. Do you hate everyone or just anyone not like you? That is to say, bitter, homophobic and paranoid. Why don't you just go and beat up a girl like you did when you were younger? That always made you feel better. If any part of you is holy, I hope you're the only member of your church.

    • Posted By: fishoutofwater @ 01/03/2009 8:58:21 PM

Now, now, let'sbe nice. Perhaps Mr. Holy is not paranoid after all and President-elect Obama is truly out to get him after all...

OMG! Could it be true? I bet Obama has some really cool voodoo potions in his recipe book of madness!

        • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 01/04/2009 4:49:23 PM

Hmmmm. Voodoo you say? Like a potion number nine?

Don't you have anything more inteligent to contribute to this conversation? This is the same garbage you posted last night! Shouldn't you be in church, it is Sunday?

  • Posted By: alpacadon @ 01/04/2009 1:18:22 PM

Howard Feneman is one of my favorites, he's right on, this is going to be an interesting year, he hit upon what is going to be the theme, what's in it for me, and many people are going to be disappointed. Sorry you folks who want a miricle, it ain't going to happen. Watch out for China, if they start putting together the war machine, we are big trouble.

  • Posted By: Johnny9393 @ 01/04/2009 7:46:32 AM

    Gee who can we blame?
Well voters put Bush into office AGAIN (after the Supreme Court did)
Voters picked the people to run, from the choices in the primaries, and ended up with some of the worst ones.
(They picked McCain, one of the "Keating Five"!?!??! The biggest scandal of the decade and they can find no one better?)
Voters let the media pick a minority race to choose from instead of looking at the best person.

I see the problem....its the majority of us.

  • Posted By: Bam4evr @ 01/04/2009 4:52:51 AM

Obama promised us alot and we should hold him to his word. We would not have voted for him if we thought he was lying. He is very very smart. He didn't even have to waste very much time being a Senator. John McCain was a Senator for a long time and he wasn't smart enough to get elected. Everything is going to be better now.

  • Posted By: Bam4evr @ 01/04/2009 4:49:22 AM

Obama promised us much and I see no reason not to hold him to his word. We wouldn't have voted for him if we thought he was lying. He is very very smart, he didn't even have to waste very much time being a senator. Look how long John McCain was a sanator and he wasn't smart enough to get elected.

Just checking to see if holypants has posted his birth certificate yet. Looks like he moved on to his home network of FOX where he belongs, with the rest of the holyier than thowz who claim to have all the answers.

    • Posted By: fishoutofwater @ 01/03/2009 11:21:41 PM

I really do have all the answers, I just opt to keep them to myself most of the time because I enjoy watching those less fortunate try to figure it all out. Either that or I have just gotten tired of pulling my foot out of my mouth.

  • Posted By: HornBird @ 01/03/2009 10:57:11 PM

It is the people who should be lowering their expectations. There are no quick fix solutions.

    • Posted By: fishoutofwater @ 01/03/2009 11:15:45 PM

Ultimately, it is us, the voting public that must share our burden of the blame.

Almost blindly have we allowed the Senate to become an elitist body, blocking nominations, stalling legislation, and currently we are even in the midst of having several seats filled by appointment rather than election. While it is perhaps true that we have to be led from the top, true change can only begin at the lower levels, because when the powers that be see what happens at the local levels, they eventually adopt those same strategies for the national level and then call it their own.

I hold this to be true for the players in both of our major political parties...

That's the way HolyRoller is. He will never change. Believe me, many of us here have tried.

      • Posted By: 40YearR @ 01/03/2009 9:02:56 PM

Btw, most here (with some notable exceptions...) call me 40. There's a Forty here, but that's not me. Pia prefers the shortened version too. :-)

        • Posted By: 40YearR @ 01/03/2009 9:19:58 PM

Oops. I thought your name was troutoutofwater. What do you prefer?

Hey, I'm the new guy here...call me what you will and we can all keep on doing what we do...That's the true beauty in living in what I still fondly refer to as "this great nation"...

        • Posted By: fishoutofwater @ 01/03/2009 9:07:53 PM

My apologies 40...I usually just peruse the postings and move on to the next page but something about this article and the emotions it inspired in some was to compelling to pass on.

          • Posted By: 40YearR @ 01/03/2009 9:17:55 PM

I don't see any need for any kind of apologies. I hope I have not offended you. I have not intended that. When I do, I tend to overdo the...sincerity... Glad you stopped by. Please do so again. The emotions...well, actually today has been a rather tame day. Do you mind if I call you 'trout'?

            • Posted By: fishoutofwater @ 01/03/2009 9:26:35 PM

Oh...and by the way...or is it btw...I still remember when those were the initials of some historical figure, but I digress...anyway, I don't confuse asterisk infused ravings for true emotion...

            • Posted By: fishoutofwater @ 01/03/2009 9:23:42 PM

All I ask is that you refrain from prefacing that with "trouser".

Glad to have been a part of this for a little while for a change...

40yearR and Pia1981, thanks for backing up my smart mouth. This seems like a shark tank and I have blood running out of my jugular! No, Im not new, Im just getting really annoyed with those who are soooo butthurt, that just cant manage to get over their loss, and support the fairly elected president! They have this courageous man crucified and he hasn't even been sworn in yet! Obama is an honorable man, with good intentions. This is not to say that McCain was not, however his dementia style debate just couldn't convince society that he was capable! For that, I am thankful~Peace

Guess you would know about ignorance! Is your birth certificate available on line? Sounds to me like your mom and dad are siblings! Why don't you post it here so everyone can see it? You are an ignorant racist who is hell bent on the idea of a black man, beating out some old white man who is married to money! Your ignorance, hatered, and negativity sounds just like McCains campaign. This is why he lost! Well that and the Barbie babe sure didn't help any!

  • Posted By: fishoutofwater @ 01/03/2009 8:02:33 PM

Mr. 40yearR, I really don't see where I have said anything demeaning towards our President-elect. I am merely stating my observation of the political process as it stands at the present. My feelings about the current state of affairs would hold regardless of who had won the election. Now if you feel the need to defend Mr. Obama before he has had the chance to either sink or swim tells that that his supporters perhaaps have some doubt in his abilties...

    • Posted By: 40YearR @ 01/03/2009 8:39:38 PM

King Obama told me everything. No neutral would ever choose to say it that way. The 'defense' you see has become a habit of mine in response to all the gratuitous digs, and worse, that have been so liberally dosed out here.
FYI, I started as a definite McC vote. After 40 years of watching closely, I am relieved to say that Obama is the most exceptional person I have ever seen run for the presidency. I have great 'hope' about his capabilities, as distinguished from the crap the cynical ankle biters dispense here. So, I'll keep responding when I see crap. I'm just as entitled as the dispensers.

Btw, I'm a pragmatist and a realist. What I seek and expect differs much from the gratuities.

  • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 01/03/2009 8:22:11 PM

$$$1,000,000.00 to keep the valid Birth Certificate of Prez-elect Homobama from being made public...???...what up with that??? Something to be ashamed of??? Something that is forbidden??? Maybe his real name is Smith???

Obamamohammeds are the world's most naive' people...Well...ignorance is bliss........IDIOTS and LOSERS......

    NOBAMA!!!

    • Posted By: fishoutofwater @ 01/03/2009 8:35:28 PM

Pardon my brazen arrogance, but your "un"holy rantings are one of the reasons I rarely post on forums or sites such as this. It seems that I go looking for an open exchange of intelligent ideals and then I find myself hijacked by inane ramblings of a tortured soul that finds it necessary to rant online for they can't find anyone to tolerate them in person. I, personally, am not an Obama supporter, but attitudes such as yours are, I feel, one of the reasons that we now have the esteemed senator from Illinois as an incoming President.

  • Posted By: fishoutofwater @ 01/03/2009 7:54:23 PM

Somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind it seems that I can almost recall growing up through some concerns eerily similar to those we face today. Let"s see if I can summon my amazing powers of recall for a brief trip down memory lane...The Nixon administration came to an abrupt and embarrassing conclusion, gas and oil prices were on the rise, there was a brief period of gas rationing, global warming and energy conservation were being bandied about, the incoming Carter administration was going to restore faith in a more accountable federal government, not to mention the Middle East and the ongoing Cold War...and as I seem to remember, we somehow made it through all that without destroying ourselves or our planet.
American politics are as cyclical as the seasons, so "Hail to the Chief!" and hunker down for what promises to be another wild ride in the annals of American history.

    • Posted By: 40YearR @ 01/03/2009 8:09:41 PM

Fortunately, this election showed that American politics is not as cynical as some posters here.

Nixon corrupted our political process like no other. The economic circumstances were nothing like Bush gave us.
The Cold War was bad, but fortunately both sides were fundamentally rational in not being willing to cause their own destruction. We now must hope that religious radicals are as rational, but we can only hope.

Carter was an incompetent President that's for sure. But his worst never approached Great Depression proportions. He was my worst ever till Dubya came along.

There are practically no economists, and certainly no generally respected ones, who do not say that what has happened presents real possibilities of a Great Depression or worse. If that prospect has already been prevented, it was at great cost, and few would say we've seen anything close to the worst it's going to get.

This is far from same old, same old.
