Posted By: roy12560 @ 01/03/2009 10:29:49 AMThere is nobody to blame but the catastrophic failure and incompetent blundering boop of Bush himself.
Bush brought upon almost universal scorn upon himself, and the media was not responsible.
Bush policies were a disaster and his post 9-11 administration of paranoia, fear and divisive hate politics was doomed to fail from the beginning.

Roy Bush was incompetant but our Congress and senate let it happen and they were as incompetant. The mortgage mess is not Bush's fault other then his lack of forsight to do something a year ago to try to stop it. The DEMOCRATS created the conditions that led to the mortgage mess. Learn the facts first. The only difference between Bush and Obama is left and right.Neither of thm had the experience to lead.

    • Posted By: roy12560 @ 01/03/2009 11:10:54 AM

No. Fact Check. The mortgage mess was a combination of many influences from both Republicans and Democrats. The Democrats did not create the condition. Bush had neither experience or competence to be president as demonstrated by his long previous record of business failures. His daddy bailed him out financially every time. Bush has failed even more miserably as president to cap off an entire career of failure in public and private life. He can on the porch of his Texas ranch in retirement reflecting upon the great hardship his life have wrought upon others.
Obama on the other hand, while lacking in hard core political experience, has the demonstrated competence from successful careers as a constitution professor, as a social reformer, as a prominent attorney and a state and national senator.
There is no comparison between Bush and Obama not to mention the radically different temperments and outlooks between the two individuals. There are many more reasons to be optimistic about Obama at the start of his administration than were at the onsought of the Bush Administration back in 2000. You for one will not see people throwing eggs at Obama's inauguration like you did during Bush's.

The Obamessiah ran for President of the World and promised everyone everything. Tall order to fill - from an article re his Berlin address: Addressing more than 200,000 elated Europeans massed in Berlin at twilight, presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama promised Thursday that he would work to unite Christians, Muslims and Jews in a safer, more united world. Obama???s speech, the centerpiece of his presidential-style sweep of the Middle East and Europe, set a global agenda as expansive and audacious as any contemplated by a candidate for United States president.

???In Europe, the view that America is part of what has gone wrong in our world, rather than a force to help us make it right, has become all too common,??? he said. ???Yes, there have been differences between America and Europe.

???No doubt, there will be differences in the future. But the burdens of global citizenship continue to bind us together,??? Obama continued. ???A change of leadership in Washington will not lift this burden. In this new century, Americans and Europeans alike will be required to do more, not less.???

What else would a ConservativeWoman post. Face reality, your party lost....big time! I suggest you use your time wisely and help your party rise from the ashes instead of posting negatives about the man who won.

Pia1981 Obama will fix everything has been the mantra of all Obamaites and the liberal media, all I have heard form Obama supporters and in the news is how Obama's Change will solve everything. Everyone I know who supported Obama spouted this view that hw will save the world and solve all the problems. Wake up we elected promises not substance

    • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 01/03/2009 11:02:20 AM

The fix everything has been the mantra of "all" Obamaites? Interesting claim. Links please.

Linda9447 II do agree we need to set the bar higher but the current leadership in the House and Senate are as much of the problem as Bush is

  • Posted By: Linda9447 @ 01/03/2009 10:57:27 AM

Forget lowering expectations! Raising the bar higher is what is needed. We need to find solutions. It will not be easy and we will have to be patient, because change will not come over night or without some sacrifice. For all the naysayers, Obama will be damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. And yes, he will have the "opposition" fighting him at every turn.. Why don't we try supporting our new President!. He has a new website www.change..gov. He is asking for our input.and suggestions.

Perhaps Obama can fix you a sandwich? A sore loser sandwich?

  • Posted By: A New York fan @ 01/03/2009 10:50:57 AM

well said Cogs all the Obamaites that drank the juice fell for it

    • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 01/03/2009 10:57:05 AM

I didn't fall for anything nor did I drink this "juice' BS you speak of. I simply voted for the best candidate. Good choice since he won and by a landslide! How did your candidate do?

Mr. Fineman, you are financially secure. You're at the top of your career. It's unlikely you're dealing with job loss fears simply because of government and banking bozos. It's unlikely you're trying to figure out how to get one or more children through college without your child being in hock until his or her retirement. It's unlikely you've watched good people be shown the door due to no fault of their own but due to the economy. President Obama had better jump into this running while inspiring the American people to have high expectations from Congress. Right now all this nation has is a severe economic crisis. Let blowhard McConnell and his Republican yes people, who helped get us into this dire situation, stand in the way of serious relief programs and the Congress will have a second crisis to deal with. The melt down of civil law and order. Just what do you think 30 million unfed, homeless, out-of-work Americans would do?
What did you think the political battle cry, "Yes We Can!" meant? We wanted a leader who'd sit in a little first grader's chair and continue to read a fairy tale was this nation was under attack? Have any idea what Americans working together can do ... and what they can take back?

    • Posted By: roy12560 @ 01/03/2009 10:53:41 AM

Yeah, Fineman is completely out of touch with the mood of the country in multiple ways. Yet, the publishing industry is especially suffering in these depressed times so that soon there may not be any more jobs for out-of-touch political commentators. We'll see the likes of Fineman working in the checkout stand at Walmart.
Many of the Limbaugh robots talk about Obama being a "socialist". It is actually The Repugs who would eliminate virtually all the jobs for the middle and lower classes but Walmart, and that is a real threat of socialism that Obama and his administration will not allow to happen.

I just signed in for this Newsweek Vine, and I think I am already sorry. I have read about thirty comments, and only about five used any intelligence. That is frustrating. Although I agree with some of the content of the posts, they are so hard to read I give up before I get through. My Mother used to say , If you want to be understood, speak in a language that is understandable.

I understand, but don't leave yet. Give NW a chance. You will be surprised.

I think before we all annoint Obama king lets wait 4 years and see. The man has no track record and nothing more then empty promisses. At least if there was a history of him actually doing something in the Illinois state house or US Senate I may remain silient but the guy has a zero tract record how can anyone put blind trust into him? Lests wait and have this conversation in 4 years and then we can either annoint him King or just a left wing answer to George Bush

Throw11 you are 100% right. The media delared him the answer to all answers, the stupid niave public bought into his promises of CHANGE, Maybe reality will finally take hold as long as the current congress and senate is in place there will never be change. World issues the only way to change there is to embrace policies that will be unpopular. Bush was allowed to take us down the wrong path unchecked but Obama does not have the experience to undo the damage.

  • Posted By: DLH33 @ 01/03/2009 10:34:57 AM

Yes expectations are high for President Obama. I mysellf am looking forward to being able to listen and watch the
President of the United States without cringing. It is like spring has finally arrived for the United States after a very long and cold winter. This country hasn't been able to "hope" for a very long time.

  • Posted By: RRR in Mpls @ 01/02/2009 9:12:41 PM

Why should Obama do the dirty work? Let the media that hyped the expectations for the messiah do it for him. While the media is at it, maybe they can explain their hypocrisy and double standards applied to the Honorable George Bush and the last 8 years of the "hate Bush" campaign the media has waged and the unachievable standards they hung on him!

  • Posted By: kurtmudgeon @ 01/03/2009 10:17:53 AM

What's this? First you tell me he's " Mr. Hope and Change" so I vote for him. Now you tell me he has to lower expectations. I wonder how much longer I will allow you to cloud my mind.

The propaganda and hype from liberal fascists like Fineman is relentless. Obama faces no more or no larger "challenges" than any other President. Despite Obama assaults on teh Constitution, despite his attempts to install totalitarian marxism, he will be be stopped, the forces of freedom will defeat him and his royalist supporters, who will join the likes of Hitler's stooges and Stalin's gulag workers. Support the European-American Homeland on the North American Continent

    • Posted By: roy12560 @ 01/03/2009 10:15:13 AM

lib-fascist is a reason they better start mandating a minimum IQ requirement as a prerequsite to posting on these boards. At least a Kindergarten Aptitude Test would suffice to keep people like lib-fascist off the board.
