to the question will there ever be Peace in the Middle East?

Yes, when Israel is given the justice it deserves, and countries like the USA stop playing good-good-big older brother telling Israel not to fight back when they themselves obsess over it. when Israel is bombed, they say "ignore Hamas and make peace!", but when someone so much as scratches the boot of the US, it becomes all out war.

It is nice to read such a fair report from the American admistration. If Obama does that, history would write his name in gold. It is about time for the American people to know that the Palestinians are not crimitnals nor terrorists BUT are the victims. They want to live in their country peacefully, they want the chance to have good economical growth and fine hopes for the future. Given that they would never want to fight. A mother is a mother in every country and no one would want to see his children killed.
Moslems love Jews and Christians, we believe in the same God and we are peacefull people. It is the ZIONISTS that we detest. A hate that is shared by every religious Jew, Christian and Moslem.
We all have Jew friends. They live among us in the Arab world and we are their partners and friends when we live in North America. Jewish people are good people. Zionist are the cancer.

Wow for once I am smarter than Newsweek or maybe I am all the time. First if we read articles like this we will not know the full scope of the history of Israel and Gaza. That land is Israel's. So Obama needs to get tough on them? I don't think so! They have a right to fight for their land. My God we aren't even looking at the full story here. I don't have time to get into it. But we are their friends and that is ok because all those other middle eastern countries despise us as well as Israel. Israel will always be our friends. We need them. They need us.

Why get tought on Israel? Why not get tough on Hamas???

    1. Hamas broke the treaty everyday since July firing near 100 missles into Israel per day (bet. 30-150)

    2. Hamas ALWAYS violates the treaty

    3. When Israel retaliates, why is it suddenly all Israel's fault?

    4. If Canda or Mexico shot missles into the USA, within 24 hours every city in the aggressing contry would be demolished - and the US would say they did the right thing...

So when Israel does it why are they different? Why is Israel always at fault in the Middle-East instead of Hamas, Hezbollah, etc etc.?

From the comments posted thus far, the dominant concern expressed is the disproportinate loss of life and property. The solution is simple ... Hamas needs to stop launching indescriminate rocket and mortar launchings into Israel, thinking the Israeli government won't at some point say ... "Enough is enough" and strike back. The glitch in the equation is that Hamas attempts to conceal their "NO-tech" rockets and mortars in densely populated positions and launched by "Barney One Bullet" terrorists ... inaccurately hitting an indescriminate target. The Israeli response ... Take out the launch, storage and smuggling sites within the multiple intentional human shields ... causing overwhelming, intended and collateral damage and death. The hue and cry then holds the Israeli government liable for the disproportinate loss on the basis of their ability to hit an intended target as opposed to Hammas' incompetence and/or inadequacies to hit anything but an indescriminate target ... another "Barney One Bullet" philosophy. The Jewish community needs to wake up, pull your heads out of the sand ... smell the coffee and see the Liberals for what they are, using "Situational Justification" for their own hidden agendas.

UN halts aid shipments to Gaza after truck driver shot dead

    Jan. 8, 2009
Associated Press , THE JERUSALEM POST
The United Nations says it is halting all aid deliveries to the besieged Gaza Strip, citing a series of Israeli attacks on UN staff and installations.

The announcement came shortly after the driver of a UN truck was shot and killed by tank fire as he was headed to an Israeli border crossing to pick up an aid shipment.

The UN said the delivery had been coordinated with Israel, but the IDF has not commented on the incident.

Spokesman Chris Gunness said aid shipments were being suspended until the safety of UN staff would be guaranteed.

This is not about who is wrong or who is right but who has the guts to step up and put their egos aside and talk PEACE.
History speaks for itself, they all killed , they all shed blood using whatever tactic;but wake up people its the 21st century. Can we ALL get along??

  • Posted By: InmyRIGHTmind @ 01/08/2009 8:25:55 PM

Newsweek you are so full of crap. I don't think we can base this off what you have heard recently. This has been going on since when? Come on! We need Israel and they need us. They are our only friends. Israel will always be faithful to us. It is a mistake to turn our backs on Israel especially as all those other middle eastern countries hate us. They want America and Israel off the face of the map. Then we get an article like this. My God what is this world coming to? PS. And all the liberals will disagree. That I know.

Here is an article for you from history about for the sake of argument how far people can go for what they want:

Zionist leaders held different ideas about how to achieve their goal. Revisionist Zionists, like Begin, were extremist nationalists who believed violence was justified to create a state. Begin was focused primarily on getting the British to withdraw their troops from Palestine, and considered guerrilla and terrorist tactics a legitimate route toward this end.

    Notable Attacks:
The Irgun, a Zionist militia, carried out these attacks while it was under Begin's command:

February 1944: Bombing of the immigration offices run by the British authorities. Three simultaneous attacks carried out against office branches in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa symbolized the anger of the Irgun over the British policy of restricting Jewish immigration. There were no casualties.
July 1946: The King David Hotel explosion. The Jerusalem luxury hotel was serving as the home of the British military command and government administration. The strike leveled the building and killed 91 people.

Guess what they were disguised as arabs with garbs and head turban.

Bottom line is if Hamas stopped launching rockets into Israel's territory and threatening it's people, then Israel would have no reason to retaliate. Look at their history and you will see a nation that just wants to go on with their lives, not one that is trying to impose its will on others or further its borders. Hamas reminds me of a spoiled little kid who keeps picking and picking at you until you finally turn around and punch him in the nose then goes running to the teacher. What do you think the United States would do if we had a rocket launched at us from another country? Damn right, we'd go in and kick the crap out of them. Until the Palestinian people realize that their troubles are the result of their own people, and oust them accordingly, there will not be peace in Gaza.

You can justify anything as long as you carry a bible in front of you.

The media is full of sheet. Dont believe anything you hear in mainstream. It's mostly lies. And the worst thing is that most media are brazen enough to feed you this crap without regard. How do you know whats happening in Israel? The media! Dont believe this load of crap! Read the US Constitution...........

The Jews stole the land the same way the we took the land from the Native Americans. Ethnic cleansing indeed.

The Israelis effectively ended the ceasefire with a cross border attack in which several Palestinians were murdered. In response to this attack, Palestinians launched their homemade rockets into Israeli-occuppied Palestine. If you go to the sott.com web site there is a photographic essay showing the lethality of the Israeli attack versus the Palestinian low tech, low accuracy and low impact rockets.

The Israelis alleged that their act of aggression was to prevent Hamas from digging a tunnel. I've yet to see a single shred of proof of this allegation. The Israelis were forced to admit that their allegation that Palestinians were launching rockets from the UN school was a lie. The IDF destroyed the school and murdered dozens of civilians and children sheltering there.

The ruling elements of the Zionist state are racist psychopathic killers who have no regard for the sanctity of human life-- as a matter of fact, they don't even consider Gentiles to be fully human. Of course, they have the support of every ***-licking dog in America...from Bush down to the drooling knuckle-draggers who frequent the 'Christian' Zionist mega-churches.

It is a shame that the brave Israeli peace movement is ignored by the American media. They prefer that Americans believe that there are no people of conscience and faith in Israel--or elsewhere for that matter! But just look at the Jewish ladies in Canada who occupied the Israel consulate in protest of this rogue state's murderous course in Palestine.

This is B.S. Screw Israel and all the other 130 countries we are in. Let them figure out their own frickin problems. We have given them enough. Time to take the teet out of their mouths and let them stand alone. People frickin hate us because of the sheet we do. Give to the Arabs.......give to Israel........get the picture. We need to get out and stop babying these people. Time to take care of our own! Screw the UN and screw the NWO!

For the record, I am not anti-semetic or anything like that, but It very true that the jews control nearly all of the media, so I would not be surprised if we are not hearing the other side of the story regarding Palestine. We are only hearing what the jewish run media wants us to hear, that basically they are completely innocent, but I think both sides may be at fault in some way or another.

There is a reason so many people do not like jews. If you would like an example of why, just ask Ted Turner.

ARE YOU INSANE? The Israel - Arab issue is a sibling rivalry thousands of years old (so what if daddy liked Isaac more than Ishmael). You're an idiot if you think Obama can change that.

Israel has done nothing but defend themselves and the land given to them by God himself. I WISH I COULD SAY THE SAME FOR YOU BED WETTING LIBERALS! Not one of you has the guts to do anything more than whine about everything and blame someone else. This country could take a few lessons in patriotism from Israel. Israel cannot be expected to tolerate anything and everything done to them by these terrorists simply because they are a Jewish state. I believe that's what you liberals call "hate crime" here in the good ole USA.

Americans must face the fact the the US created a place name Israel on the land of the Palestinians; then they imported so call Jews from all over and in some instances even paid them to move on to this really stolen property, now they have a resistance in the south from Hamas and the from the north by Hizbollah. They days of colonization is over; see the US tried to do it with Iraq and it backfired big time. The only real solution to this issue is a one state with fair and free election that will allow everyone to vote for elected officials including Hamas and Fatah and they live hapiily ever after. No more divide and conquer fro untiy is strength and Obama proved that with the election of 2008. The US must let go of the Israeli carrot and accept the middle eastern for who they really are and not what the US wants them to be. The jews are in fact the minority in this land (the bloody land) like the anglo population is in the US.

    Peace/Salam
