I could get pedantic or try to impress everyone with my language skills but I prefer to speak simply. Aaron David Miller is full of crap. Hamas has sworn to destroy Israel. It's not possible to broker a peace treaty when only 1 party (Israel) wants peace.

Well said, more than 765 Palestinians are killed (More than Half are Children and Women) in occupied Gaza by Israeli Army, and more than 3125 wounded, an army with an arsenal, equipped with the latest high tech weaponry, with guided laser & radar bombs and rockets, Fighter Jets, Tanks, battle ships, still we see all these civilians; paramedics, UN staff, and even While Hamas are resisting the Israeli occupation with home made rockets.

This must end, but how if one side (Israel) is the only nuclear power in the region, and best arming in the world (Thanks to USA), and the other side (Palestinians) kicked out of their lands, imprisoned in isolated territories, no dignity, and no power what so ever. How can a fair resolution be found, and sustained in these conditions. Yes pressure is needed on the powerful side for a fair life for both.

There been alot of bloodshed on both sides. Isreal has suffered many deaths and severly wounded civilians because of suicide bombers......it's time to face the fact that the only reality that Isreal has is to completely destroy the Hamas terrorist. Who are really a bunch of cowards......if they are so noble let them come out into the open and engage in a real battle. Not fire rockets and rifles and then run behind a crown of innocent children and their mother.

Hamas are cowards.........conder the days of old when they met on the battle field and fought, they back then that peace was not an option, like's its not an option now......it's time to eliminate the terrorist both there and the multitudes hiding in North America. Come out and fight like real warriors.

What kind of fool says, "Wipe the Palestinans off the planet"? THe intelligence factor here is sorely in question. Are you related to Hitler? Palestinians are people too. No worse than any Israelite. Both sides need to recognize each others right to exist and do everything possible to achieve peace.

Israel want peace without giving back any of the land they stole from the Palestinians. The Americans keep asking Why do they hate us? see the pictutes of babies/women murdered by the Israelis with American made weapons, not to mention the continuous cover up of israeli crimes by every U.S administration. Israel cannot live without wars, that is why every few yeras it starts one. Those israeli leaders or so called holocaust survivors are commiting another holocaust against the Palestinians. Israel will never be accepted in the region without giving back every inch stolen from the Palestinians.

Mr Obama needs to get tough with all parties. Israel counts on the US for help as the palestinians do as well because Israel does not allow them to grow due to fear. We all know that Israel has gone through a lot but if they need to avenge themselves, they can go and Find hitler and not take it on the palestinians. US needs to put away any support to Israel until they can respect UN mandates and act like a Civilized nation. You know why Israelis don't want the war to end and peace to prevail, then they won't be any justification of the US aid to them. Impartiality is a must in order to end theconflict. Let's pray that God brings peace in that region they really need it.

Undoubtedly an uniformed, short-sighted argument. Until the security issues are resolved with the Palestinian neighbors ceasing their rocket barrages, no progress can be made on the diplomatic front. Isreal will continue to defend itself and it should.

Thank you for finally breaking the dead silence in the MSM regarding Israeli agression. I am always shocked when fellow Americans just regurgitate the spoonfed propoganda in order to give Israel the right to deal with impunity at a marginalized, traumatized population - you would think of ALL the peoples on the planet they would know what that feels like. Yet they continually make themselves the victims while stealing from, starving, caging and slaughtering the Palestinians by land, air and sea AND make the whole world belive that they deserve it.

I hate to break it to you, but Hamas is doing exactly what they were elected to do. That said, it is not Hamas at fault, it is their entire population.

i believe in israel having the right to defend itself. but you have to realize that when the ratio of killings is 700 palestinians including women and children against only 10 israelis... then that right to defense doesnt apply anymore. consider this analogy: a killer is approaching me about to kill me and in my defense i kill him first. and then i go to his town and kill all his friends and family... am i still defending myself? definitely not

in these last few days, israel has bombed two schools for no apparent reason. it was featured on NPR and they claimed that israel knew the locations of these places to be schools and so it wasnt an "accident bomb." there were no hamas soldiers within that school and in that process many innocent children died. also... one million palestinians dont have electricity and their hospitals are running 24/7 with heat generators. show me the injustice against israel now. look at the bigger picture and realize who is really the victim...

Suppose Venezuela decides that California is really part of Latin America. Instead of declaring war, Venezuela arms Mexican Indians who feel that their land was unlawfuly seized. These Mexican Indians lob 1000's of rockets into Texas.
President Clinton, wanting to stop the Rocket attacks, gives these Indians a chunk of New Mexico. The US promtly pull all Americans out of the area. Mexico creates a wall between itself and New Mexico so these Indians cannot cross back into Mexico. Venezuela continues to arm the Indians and the Indians travel into California and try to destabilize the local government. California then builds a wall to prevent incursion. Rockets are now being lobbed into California on a daily basis. The Indians say they will only stop the attacks if the US lowers the wall between New Mexico and California. Never saying the wall between the New Mexico and Mexico needs to come down.

President Bush, the incoming President, becomes tired of all the strife, invades New Mexico to clean out the trouble makers. The trouble makers are lobbing rockets from Civilian Stuctures which are densly populated. The media of course crusifies George Bush for being to heavy handed.

Final there is an online article from someone from the Woodrow Wilson Center. In this article the author says we need to be stricter with George Bush if there is to be peace with Indians.

Tis better if it were done, t'were done quickly. Israel's trying to talk to people who dress their babies with dynamite. That's like the commander of the USS Enterprise trying to talk to Kamikaze pilots heading towards the deck.

This is a very delicate matter. Israel should be able to defend itself, but the Palestinians shouldn't be victimis either to uneven, merciless attacks. I don't think Israel shold destroy blocks of buildings because a badly made rocket lands in a corn field. Also the Palestinians should know by now that Hamas isn't good for them politically, but still, they have no one to stand up for or speak for them....so what can they do.

I say make it even, or more fair. Stop give U.S. weapons to only one country only. Give the Palestinians weapons equal to Israel. Let them fight it out fair and square--mano-to-mano! When they've had enough, let them sit down and make a peace deal and keep the rest of the world out of it.

Or we could just spilt the country down the middle for the both to share. If one side can't keep it's word, then what ever happens, happens. And if the land changes hands again, then so be it. Who even wins in a equal knock-down drag out keeps all the spoils...period. I'm tired of hearing about the Palestinians demise when they're apart of it. I'm also tired of hearing Israel is just protecting itself with massive U.S. weapons and killing on the U.S. dime.

Let both come to an agreement, or let them both go their own way. We have our own issues in this country to deal with.

Going back in history there are humans hating Israel, and it is these people, now multiplied thousands of times, wanting peace in the Middle East by a total elimination of the Jews. Arrafat was a prime example of being a terrorist, yet on the surface pretended to seek peace.

Concessions by Israel in seeking peace have been to give away a little of what they have each time which only temporarily made peace. There will be no peace until the last day in which our Creator's arrival to make a peace world wide.

I agree about the sadness of killing people not directly involved in terrorism/religious war. War is not a game, yet many want such giving the terrorists hiding places, and time to regroup equipment and their plans.

Study world events, and we find these events like a chess game where each day there are more pieces in place toward the last war, and finally peace will come.
