If Obama Is Serious

The simple two-step:
1. Israel needs to give back all occupied territory outside of their original borders.
2. After this is done, make it clear to the surrounding Arab countries that any transgression against Israel will be dealt with harshly by US and Israel. The gloves will be off. Hilary Clinton can repeat her threat "we will annihilate you".

This either leads to lasting peace, or, an all-out definitive victory that sets back one side for decades to come.

The Bible says that in the end times all nations (including America) will turn its back on Israel. I as many Americans fail to see why we should be tough on Israel? Are they not defending themselves from constant rocket attacks? I say good for you Israel not shame on you.

Isareal was fired on first! Hamas purposly puts their citizens in danger themselves to be killed by mortars and rockets! THE OH LOOK AT US poor us we are dying and blah blah blah!! wow, never thought newsweek would allow anything like this to be published. when it comes to the israeli-palestinian conflict most of our US press feels that any genocidal acts by israelis is pretty much ok and justified. when are the palestinian people going to get justice for the countless human rights abuses that occur there? this one conflict completely undermines the credibility of the US with most other nations. yet i doubt Obama will change the dynamic that has brought nothing but pain, misery, and death to the palestinian christians and muslims who live in prison palestine.

What have the Arab countries contributed to this world? Nothing but tension and strife. Israel and the Jews have made amazing contributions to this world. Please stop defending the Arabs. Remember history. The UN approved a partition of the old Paletine, which originally was "Judea" under the Romans until they changed the name, and dispersed the Jewish people out of the land. The UN divided the land into a place for Israel and the Palestinians. The day after Israel declared themselves as a nation, they were attacked by Syria, Jordan and Egypt. Jordan and Egypt moved in to take the west bank and gaza respectively. The Arab nations themselves made no effort to create a Palestinian state, indeed they worked against the idea. The Palestinian Charter of 1947 (correct year?) claimed all of the land, contrary to the UN declaration. Arafat rejected the two state approach because of this declared intent. So the struggle continues. Remember, Fatah also has in mind the conditions of the Charter, and they are the so called moderates. So the struggle continues, with Israel hemmed in by miltants on all sides.

I don't think the world community can condemn Israel when we couldn't control Russia when it invaded and punished Georgia right before the Olympics. Where is the justice?

Finally, someone who states that Israel should be held accountable. I don't know what type of bond the USA and Israel have, but it's one that is harming innocent lives for many, many years. Those that are part of the alliance that is killing of innocent children right now will get what they deserve.

I am appalled by the comments that people make in regards to Israel. They take hit after hit, cease fire after cease fire and every single one violated by Hamas or another Arab terrorist group. I feel very badly for the People of the West Bank and their suffering , but they let a snake come in and run their small dependent nation and now that snake has caused them trouble. Why can't they stop Hamas? We all know that is impossible for them to do single handedly. If a Canadian province were launching thousands of missiles each year into New York would we just keep turning the other cheek? I think not. The Islamo Fascists and that is an accurate name for these terrorists have brought this on themselves and the people of the West Bank. One thing that I saw in the news recently was a huge convoy from Israel with medical and humanitarian supplies for the Citizens of the West Bank. This surely is not the act of a reckless and tyrannical people. How many convoys came from Egypt, Syria and the other wealthy Arab nations? I saw none and have not heard of even one. Maybe it is time for a real cease fire with a responsible Government in place. Maybe, just maybe this is a opportunity for the people of the West Bank to take back their government. History has never recorded a single time when Israel attacked without provocation. Maybe a good start would be for everyone to stop attacking Israel with Missiles, Rockets, Artillery and Mortars and last but not least homicide bombers and then see if peace sets in. I will bet you that Israel will not attack a single time if they are not attacked. I have history to cover my bet, how about you? The West Bank People and the People of the Palestinian Occupied areas should stop letting radicals take them over and start building their own nation instead of letting regime after regime come through reaping billions of dollars from benevolent Americans and other s then leaving the area in a complete mess. Remember the Dentist form Cairo? One Yasser Arafat his widow was caught trying to leave the area with over 1 billion dollars. Why is it a person like this has so much when the worst ghettos in the world are located in these areas. It is time for these people to take their futures back and a good start with be the ???cleansing??? that Israel is doing right now.

How unusual. Newsweek publishing a biased article. For the last eight months anything that President Bush has done, Newsweek has bashed. On the other hand, anything Barak Obama has done Newsweek has fallen over themselves to praise. Why should anyone be surprised by an anti Israel article by a self hating Jew. Par for the course.

Imagine someone forced you out of your home and made you leave all you worked for without any reason or explanation. That is exactly what happened to more than 1 MILLION Palestinian's. These what you call 'terrorist's' do not have anything to fear for their nightmares are when they are awake. What else would they have to live for? Palestinians had their whole lives removed from them! Their homes, schools, businesses, Mosques, cars their WHOLE LIVES vanished and taken. Yes they may blow themselves up for the cause they believe in and yes they may bomb missiles on Southern Israel because of the endless occupation in 'Gaza' but they have every right to do what has been done to them. The true terrorists lies beneath the skin of a Israeli Soldier and the Israeli Gov't. They know they are bombing UN locations and they continue to do so. The truth will be seen and may Palestine prevail.
