I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY JEWS HAVE TO HAVE A STATE TO BEGIN WITH. i UNDERSTAND THERE WAS 6 MILLION JEWS KILLED IN WW2, BUT THERE WERE OVER 350 MILLION NATIVE AMERICAN INDIANS KILLED. BUT, YOU DON'T SEE THEM MANIPULATING AMERICAN POLITICS WITH A LOBBY, AND USING AMERICAN TAX DOLLARS TO FIGHT A WAR IN A LAND FAR AWAY THEY ARE TRYING TO SECURE.

YOU DON'T HAVE A STATE, WELCOME TO AMERICA. JOIN THE CLUB & PICK A NUMBER BECAUSE THERE ARE A COUNTLESS NUMBER OF IMMIGRANTS IN AMERICA WHO FLEE THEIR COUNTRY OF BIRTH BECAUSE OF THE OPPRESSIVE REGIMES THAT CONTROL IT, WHO WILL NEVER HAVE A LIFE IN THEIR COUNTRY OF BIRTH.

AS A MATTER OF FACT, NO ONE EVER EVEN LET THE AMERICAN PUBLIC VOTE ON WHETHER, OR NOT THEY AGREED TO HAVE AMERICAN TAX DOLLARS PAY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF ISRAEL, AN ALREADY RICH COUNTRY WHO RECEIVES 1/3RD OF ALL FEDERAL AID SENT BY THE USA. THIS IS NOT FAIR.

MAYBE THEY WOULD STOP SHOOTING ROCKETS IF ISRAEL WOULD CEASE TO CONTINUE TO TAKE LAND BY MILITARY MEANS, STOP THAT BERLIN LIKE WALL, STOP THE EMBARGO IMPOSED ON OT'S CITIZENS, ETC, ETC. JUST A SUGGESTION.

According to Bill Clinton, it is the Palestinians who blew the peace deal that was negotiated in 2001. The Palestinians were offered nearly everything they were negotiating for. Yasser Arafat, with advice from Egypt's Mubarak, would not settle unless the issue of return of those who fled prior to the war waged by the neighboring Arabs in 1948. . Either the Jews who fled Yemen, Syria, Egypt, Iraq and Iran with just the clothes on their backs should enjoy the same right to due process for the property they were forced to leave behind or this matter should be called a wash and forgotten..
I can't imagine how he ranked the priorities for his legacy. Arafat could have been remembered for making peace for his people and creating the boundaries for their nation. Instead he is remembered as a terrorist.

The questions must be revised on this issue. First, the country is the size of New Jersey, why don't Arab neighbors, that are much larger, one even as big as Texas (Saudia Arabia) help relocate these people if it???s such a problem? Why don't Arab countries provide health services or food, why is it only the Western World? Why do we look to pin all the worlds??? problems on a small country in the Middle East, when this country is not responsible for the attacks in Europe and the U.S.? Why do we pin our problems on Israel, when they are the only ally that votes always in support of the U.S. from agricultural to military, while all the Arab countries and European countries vote against? Why do we look to rework our relationship with the only Middle Eastern country where Media is free, where democracy exists; and where women, gay, and other racial and religious minorities are not persecuted but protected by the Israeli constitution, while we look away as all of Israel's neighbors neglect, abuse, and persecute (many times by violence and death) these groups to the fullest? As for Hamas, all Gaza had to do, has to do, is stop firing "DAILY" rockets at Israel and renounce terror, would we allow Mexico or Canada to do behave this way towards us? Its a very simple idea stop attacking and gain safety and freedom within Gaza and even statehood. The West Bank should be a model, you haven't really heard much going on there have you? Also consider Islamisism, ask who are those of Darfur persecuted by, who are the attacks in Kashmir and within India instigated by, hell who are attacks within Pakistan instigated by, what about in Somalia, Chechnya (although Russia in this case is extremely brutal), Philipines, the fighting (and brutal killings) between Hamas and Fatah, or the attacks in Europe and the U.S.? The Islamists are waging a war with the West, the biggest question is are we going to defend our culture and the rights we have worked so hard for, for so many generations, or are we going to turn a blind eye, and feed into this idea that these repressive groups just want a little piece of land and their religious mission is over when we give it back or succumb to one of their hundreds of demands? Hopefully our leaders are a little bit more coherent and understanding of the situation.

Israel need to make true Peace with the Palestianans people. I don't think the Isreal want Peace because they feel that they will give up and back too much to the Palestianians. The Land for One, the Power they have over controling their every move and Lives. That will be too much to give up. Too much war and I think the Israrel is always winning because of American backing. America should be fair stop back them and be tougher on Isreal and make sure no backing or funding for them until Real Peace is made by both of them. It is like a Joke the endless fighting between Isreal and the Palestinians and we are tired of hearing about them now. It is just too much with them noiw we need to hear the end of their wars and hear and see true Peace. Isreal should rebuild all the home and buildings they distroy, pay the familes for the innocent lives they are taking in the name of punishing Hamas.

You are disgusting. The global attack from the Muslim world has included: flying planeloads of civialians into buildings full of civilians, kidnaping and beheading civilians, shooting rockets and mortars randamly into civilian populations, sending their children as human bombs to blow up civilians, etc. Do you think they wouldn't take you out in a second? The Western World needs to vastly increase our response.

    • Posted By: faten183 @ 01/05/2009 5:26:18 AM

The very fact that you are instantly labeling it as a Muslim war is worrying- this is Palestinians fighting against Israelis.

      • Posted By: bojack27 @ 01/05/2009 3:31:48 PM

It is a Muslim war! Get real dud! You haven't even got a clue to what or who supports the Hamas and are playing the political correct response of not labeling terrorist Muslims.... the OIC is spreading its nonsense you you swallowed it hook, line and sinker

What? The jews believe in God. Their God has not got tough with them over the last five thousand years. So how is Obama going to get that done????????????Is he more than supernatural now?

    • Posted By: bojack27 @ 01/05/2009 3:23:32 PM

What a ignorant statement to make about what God has done or hasn't done.....

That is one of the problems: protecting the 'special relationship' with Israel. Frankly, we should treat Israel like ANYONE ELSE, not with this damn kid gloves that the Bush administration and some others want us to use.
It is time to use our donations to Israels security to tell them "Do this, or no more weapons, money, etc.!"
Sure, it might wreck our relationship with Israel.... but there comes a time where you have to say to someone "YOU ARE WRONG! DO THIS... or no more friendship!" That time has come by a LONGSHOT in the Israeli/American relationship.

I think what Mr. Miller and other Americans are saying is that we have had enough of policies towards Israel that allow that country to run roughshod on its neighbors. If it doesn't want war then it needs to striive to make peace. Someone had posted earlier the notion to imagine if Mexico had taken over the U.S. and how Americans would react and behave. I would do anything to protect my country and its way of life, and I expect other humans to do the same including the Palestinians. Don't kick me down, take my money and then offer to give me half.
The other issue which is offensive is this absolutely huge Jewish lobby affecting American policy. I will not go to war for or over Israel and no other American should feel it his patriotic duty to do so either. Israel is not America, and from what I have seen, we don't even share the same values.

  • Posted By: RobJaff65 @ 01/05/2009 3:02:37 PM

Mr. Miller is not 100% right. Any nation that is legitimate, has a right to defend itself. There is talk of "proportional response". However, I don't believe in "proportionate" responses. By definition, if Hamas bombs an Israeli school killing young schoolchildren, then the "proportionate" response would be to retaliate by bombing a school in the Gaza killing young schoolchildren. Any superior army will use superior firepower. Israel has done more than any other nation when it comes to trying to reduce collateral damage. They have been sending text messages to all Palestinians in Gaza of impending military action as well as dropping leaflets and interrupting Palestinian TV. And they use smart weapons targeting Hamas leaders. I can't say the same for Hama's. They deliberately target civilians to create more terror for the Israeli's.

I do agree, though, that we do need some new ideas in dealing with 40 years of fighting between Israel and the Palestinians....after all, it was Einstein who said, "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result." Both parties are guilty of this. But Israel has the right to retaliate against Hamas's aggression, as long as there is an endgame....and for years both sides have responded with force and achieving little other than radicalization of more its people. One thing is certain though, the UN must come out and denounce the actions of Hamas more forcefully instead of always blaming Israel for its retaliation or so called "disproportionate response"......If the Palestinians want their lands back, it must be by peaceful means and they must unequivocally agree to Israel's right to exist. Violence is a two way street and every nation has the right to defend itself.....but perhaps we should also look at the reaction of India to the Mumbai bombings....they chose not to retaliate immediately against Pakistan knowing that any action must have an achievable outcome and not make matters worse. However, when it comes to Hamas, I'm not sure at all their endgame is a Palestinian nation and freedom and economic stimulus for its people. They continue to build bomb factories under hospitals, in Universities and close to their children's schools and recklessly fire rockets into Israel's borders. And they are definitely unwilling to come to a peaceful solution without wiping out Israel completely. Unfortunately, we are left with bad choices and worse choices unless there is a change of leadership in Gaza. Getting tough on Israel will not achieve peace without forcing Hamas's hand as well.

  • Posted By: skidiverdave @ 01/05/2009 3:01:45 PM

Whoever wrote this article should be fired! Israel wants nothing more than to live in peace, but these crazy Palestinians won't let that happen! Why in God's name would we back a terrorist regime? Maybe these lunatics start this BS because we, and I mean the USA, let's them pull these stunts. I wish we had the same policy as Israel! If you bomb a house, we blow up a town! That's the only language these lunatics understand. Israel did NOTHING wrong here!!! If someone was lobbying missiles over here, I'm sure you would be screaming for blood too! We've been attacked twice on American soil, and just ask the Japanese and Afghanistan how that's worked out for them!!!

What a joke. You cannot negotiate with Hamas or Iran anymore than you could with Adolph Hitler or Joseph Stalin. American is not punishing Hamas and thus the Palestinian people. Hamas is punishing the Palestinian people by its rocket attacks on Israel, which are designed to provoke counter-attacks. Hamas is using Palestinian suffering to provoke a general war on Israel by the Muslim world. Paranam

I Agree with you Mr Miller 100%.We need an honest broker in this conflict because the National Interest of the US and I srael as well as the Region depend on Peace.I also believe this kind of opinion is widepsread but unfortunatley not voiced enough in the media.
Thanks for your courage Mr Miller.

  • Posted By: houran @ 01/05/2009 2:19:01 PM

Bravo Mr. Miller for speaking the hard truths.
It's amazing to me that we don't question our unyielding support for Israel. Common sense tells us that there are always two sides to a conflict. If America is serious about peace in the middle east, we'll know right away as soon as we hear Obama's tone when he's in office. His silence in speaking out against the violence has already saddened and disappointed me. But I'm praying and hoping that he takes a more common sense, fair approach in serving as a peace broker... at least more so then any of his predecessors. Resolving this problem will take some political courage, which has been majorly lacking on all sides.

Take God completely out of the equation in how we deal with Isreal. Be pragmatic and do not succumb to the ideals of the radical right in Isreal. We need to appear more balanced, do not support Hamas, do not promote democracy in countries that are not ready. Support the Palestinians with the same Zeal and we do Isreal.

I think Canalexpo has succumbed to 60 years of steady spin. Israel's survival as a nation is not threatened by the Arab states, and has not been since at LEAST 1972 (many observers would argue that it was never in doubt after 1949... certainly most subsequent conflict were initiated by Israeli offensives against the Arabs, rather than the other way around). Israel's NATIONAL SURVIVAL is certainly not threatened by the million and a half Gazans that Israel has kept under virtual siege in the Gaza ghetto for years.

Israel's survival as a Jewish state IS at risk, in the long run, but ironically, this risk is created by the Zionists own intransigent and bellicose policies toward the Palestinians. The Palestinians cannot defeat Israel militarily, but Israel cannot compel them to submit to Israeli rule, without representation, for all time. Eventually, either the Israelis will have to truly withdraw (not just from the interior, but also from control of the air, sea and land borders of the occupied territories)and permit the Palestinians to establish a state, OR the Israelis will have to permit ALL the people in the territory it controls to vote in Israel (which would mean the immediate end of Israel as a JEWISH State), OR Israel will have to conduct a thorough genocide to eradicate or drive the Palestinians out (even if the world at large would do nothing, many Israelis and Jews of the Diaspora would refuse to countenance such a thing).

The choices are limited, and time is running out. Israel is, militarily, the 800 pound gorilla in the region, and will remain so...but if they are to enjoy their own freedom in security, they will have to back off and let the Palestinians have the same.

What most people dont understand , this is not only about Hamas and the Gaza Strip ...this is the survival of one Nation -
Israel...in the last war against Hamas , Hezbollah attacked from Lebanon . Israel is outnumbered about 50 to one . With
Syria , Iran and Egypt supplying weapons to Hamas , Hezbollah and different factions of Jihad , Israel must be allowed to
conduct pre-emptive action against them . Iran has publicly declared it will annihilate Israel . It is not only conducting
a war against the state it is a war of revenga , it is a religious holy war , it will be ( as promised by Iran ) a slaughter of
Jews . Leaving the politics aside for a moment . Remember the saying : first the killed all the jews , I was not one of them . then they killed all the catholics , I was not a catholics , then the Hindus , the Buddhists ,,, then there was no one left to defend me !!!This is as much as a promised Genocide ,,, and even the Shia and Sunni will forget the squabbling and
Join the slaughter .. Talk to some who fought there from 48 - 75 ...

Dick Cheney's pious denials aside, that Israel never consulted with the United States or asked permission prior to its curiously-timed invasion into Gaza, it's beginning to look suspiciously like another "unfortunate" incident in a previous lame duck administration's transition from power...an administration also headed by a man named Bush...SOMALIA! Somalia proved to be a major problem for the incoming Clinton administration and he got the blame for what was clearly Bush Senior's little "adventure". Now, another lame duck Bush will probably escape blame if this Gaza ploy proves an embarrassment for President-Elect Obama.

It IS time for the United States to get tough with Israel's Zionists. The weight of world opinion is going to be heavily against Israel, whether they sought permission or not. Unfortunately, Obama has, probably unwisely, come down on the side of supporting Israel without question. We shouldn't!

It's a shame, because we DO have a friend in Israel, but knee-jerk protectionism is not the answer. That only helps the Zionists who have authored most of the continuing adventurism, confident that we will back them to the hilt.

    Sadly, they are probably right!

We are not talking Israel against Hamas .. that is only the tip of the iceberg ...Hamas receives weapons and money from
Syria ..Jordan ..Iran..different interestgroups in Egypt ...there are 3million jews against 250 million Arabs , some openly promisisng to annihilate every Israely and Jew ... If Israel does not curb the Hamas in Gaza it will always weaken its defense , remember the last war ...Hezbollah attacke when Israel had problems in the Gaza . If Israe is denied the right for pre-emptive strikes , they would write their Eulogies while still alive . It is not only a dispute between arab nations , it
is a dispute with Islams Fanatics ...Israel knows the dangers around its borders and so do the ones who have fought
there ...would the world allow another Holocaust ???? Also remember the old saying , first the Jews , then the Catholics .
then the Hindus until just you and me are left and no one to defend us .....even Shia and Sunni will stop their fighting
    to kill every Israeli ...

Are you ass wholes a bunch of Islamic Muslims or something. You cannot blame israel for what the Muslims are doing to them. they are terrorists and Israel is defending herself. Enough of your garbage and that Muslim Obama should mind his own friggin business if he is too stupid to see who is doing what.

If he were to truly mind his own business he would take his 6 billion dollars and go home.
