Main two things are apples and rice, besides that all vegetables, peaches, cherry and other fruits, we have aslo lot of walnut tress which are in other parts of kashmir. we have this year mustard crops also.
we rear sheeps cows & chicken also, this job is taken care by ladies but we have helpers also.
we have three ox also which we need for agriculture as tractor sometimes is a failure.
we have couple of horses also for our reda and one special horse which i use , i take care of horse.
we dont grow wheat
this winter i took pickle making in my hands and it was great success, usually our people fill pickle in big earthenware urns and keep them at top floor " kanee" what happens there is that it is too cold and the fermentation does not happen.
i try to tell villagers
in short we dont buy much stuff from market all things we use come from our agriculture.
mostly the agriculture practices are here developed by kashmirs themselves . govt agricuture department does nothing we learn nothing from them
what is do is that i have made some frinds in australia and france, france temp and kashmir w eather conditions are same and i have benifited from their advices
south kashmir zamindars are more intelligent then us north kashmir zamindars but we have this talent of producing apples in bulk and producing cash crops; south people have more variety and they are more hard working than us
recently in the days of ecomomic blockade from jammu our pulwama and pampore people said that we can supply food stuff for whole srinagar for continus three months if blocakde continues

Srinagar, Mar 23: The president of Islamic Students League, Shakeel Ahmad Bakshi, on Monday said that those who issue statements against stone pelting were supporting the ???murderers and killers???.

In a veiled reference to president Jamiat-i-Ahli Hadees Moulana Showkat???s statement that stone pelting was un-Islamic, Shakeel said that opposing stone pelting amounts to helping the anti-movement activities.

Moulana Showkat on Sunday while quoting scriptures had said that the stone pelting was forbidden in Islam. He had said it served no purpose and gave troops an excuse to kill people.

Shakeel said the stone pelting has remained ???part of the movement??? and ???the fatwas issued against it have no basis.???

He said the same people were issuing statements against the stone-pelting in Kashmir who have been all along organizing seminars in support of the Palestine cause and the stone throwing youth and children.

???These people were in the coordination committee who motivated youth to protest in June last year and in the process 62 youth were killed. Now they are issuing statements against the youth who are protesting against the killing,??? he said.

AMRISTAR: The Punjab police on Wednesday said a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader had been arrested after his 20-year-old daughter complained he
had sexually exploited her for the last eight years.

The BJP is a partner in Punjab's Akali Dal-led ruling alliance.

Ashok Taneja, the general secretary of the Ajnala unit of the BJP, was arrested after his daughter, a college student, filed a complaint, said police officials in the border town, 30 km from Amritsar.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural) Gurmeet Chauhan said, "We have detained Taneja and are questioning him."

Amritsar Superintendent of Police (Rural) Satpal Joshi said a case of rape has been registered against the accused, who has been "arrested".

An investigating officer said: "She (the daughter) mustered courage to tell her relatives about her sexual exploitation after seeing a similar case being reported from Mumbai a few days back. They helped her complain to the police."

Taneja had threatened to kill her if she told anyone in the family or outside about his activities.

Police officials said that they would further investigate the matter, especially whether it was in the knowledge of other family members, including the girl's mother.

Last week, the Mumbai police arrested a 49-year-old businessman who allegedly raped his daughter for over nine years on the advice of a black magic practitioner to get "rich quickly".

SRINAGAR: Hardline Pakistan-based terrorist group Laskar-e-Taiba warned on Wednesday of fresh attacks against Indian troops, and said its fighters
were responsible for days of fighting in Kashmir.

Eight soldiers and 17 terrorists were killed in gunbattle that started on Saturday in Kashmir's Kupwara district, close to the Line of Control (LoC).

Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) said its members were involved in the fighting, one of the fiercest in recent years.

"The gunbattle should serve as a message to India that struggle for Kashmir's freedom is on with full vigour," Lashkar spokesman Abdullah Ghaznavi said, warning of more attacks on Indian troops.

He was speaking by telephone from an undisclosed location.

Ghaznavi said Lashkar members had initiated the gunbattle by ambushing an army column in the forest area.

He said the fighting left 25 Indian soldiers and ten Lashkar men dead.

The Indian army said eight soldiers and 17 rebels were killed, and that the operation was launched by the soldiers after they were tipped off.

The Indian government has blamed the terror outfit for the deadly attacks in Mumbai late last year that killed over 180 people. It has denied any role in the attacks.

Srinagar, March 24: Taking a strong note of the growing human rights violations in the Valley MLA Langate Er Sheikh Rashid Tuesday surrendered his security and the bullet proof vehicle and threatened to resign from his constituency in case HR violations are not stopped.
Talking to media persons here, Rashid said government should be held responsible if anything untoward happens to him. ???I am committed to my people and cannot tolerate their harassment by police and other security agencies. When my people are not secure, what I have to do with the security???? said the visibly angry Rashid.
Asking Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to make sure that administration on ground ensures his pro-people agenda. ???I admit that Omar Abdullah is sincere and has a pro-people agenda, but he has no control on the administration. He should make sure that his pro-people agenda should reflect on ground. As of now, there is no governance seen on ground,??? he said.
MLA Langate said that if the HR violations continue in his area, he will lead the mass migration of people from the area. ???Not only this, I will also resign from the Assembly. Because I have failed in all other means, now this is the only option,??? he said.
???If whole Kashmir was on roads during the last year???s agitation; why only people of my area are being harassed and put to third degree torture. There are other incidents where police is harassing people on flimsy grounds,??? he said.
???They have let loose a reign of terror, and are making wrong use of their unbridled powers. It is a Gonda Raj and Jungle Raj in my area,??? he said. He said few days back more than 10 people at Sehpora village were put to inhuman torture by local police on fictitious charges of cutting and staling the trees of an orchard.
Flanked by a youth Ghulam Nabi Lone of Sehpora Langate who was tortured by Kralgund police for ten days, Rashid said that people of Valley voted for the Assembly elections with a hope that the security situation improves.

???It is these people who were called as traitors by Hurriyat, and now they are being labelled as anti-national by police and security agencies. What will people do in this case? If participating in elections does not improve people???s condition, then what is the fun of conducting elections here? I want to ask all the politicians of the State, and governments here and in Delhi, for what they were boasting the encouraging trend of people???s participation in elections! Was it for incidents like Bomai, Khaigam and for the unbridled atrocities by police in Langate,??? he said in fitful burst.
Er Rashid said that he would not tolerate his people being harassed in every single way. ???Both civil and police administration are sleeping over the problems of people in my constituency. I will go to any extent against these atrocities and sky is the only limit,??? he said.
Giving details of the ???atrocities??? committed by police and other security agencies in Langate area, Rashid said that from past two months 46 youth of the area are being regularly summoned to police station for taking part in last year???s agitation against controversial Amarnath shrine board. He said police has slapped PSA on three youth, and army has turned life into hell for more than 200 persons.
The Langate MLA added that he will lodge a complaint in State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) against Kashmir police for the atrocities they are committing in his constituency.
Rashid asked both the regional parties of Kashmir PDP and NC to join hands, ???if they are serious in solving the Kashmir issue.???

Troops Start Leaving Camp; Locals Jubilant

Bomai (Sopur), Mar 24: In the first incident of its kind in the past 20 years of conflict in Jammu and Kashmir, army has started shifting its troopers from Bomai, following a relentless 32-day agitation by locals in the wake of the killing of two youths by the Rashtriya Rifles soldiers.
Residents told Greater Kashmir that soldiers started retreating in vehicles since morning, carrying their belongings along with them. The troops headed towards Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agriculture Science and Technology (SKUAST), Wadura. The retreating vehicles with soldiers, arms and ammunition leaving the village brought joy on the faces of residents.
???Since the army camp at Bomai was co-located with the Government Higher Secondary Girls School, to address the aspirations of the girl students and their parents, it has been decided to relocate the camp at a suitable alternate site,??? a Defense ministry statement said.
The day was special for 60 year-old Ghulam Hassan Maqhdoomi of Tujer Sharif, whose bridegroom son- Tahir- was allegedly blasted into pieces by the troopers of the camp led by one Major Rajinder Singh. The camp had been named after the Major. The old man would no more have to see ???Rajinder Post??? written on a board.
Since morning 15 vehicles have moved out so far, said a resident. At the camp, troopers were removing the layers of concertina wire into a roll, but many troopers were still inside.
???It is a great day for us. Our sons won???t be killed and students won???t be harassed by the soldiers. Martyrs blood hasn???t gone waste,??? said 50 year-old Saja Begum.
President Coordination Committee Hakim-u-Rehman, spearheading the agitation for the removal of the camp, told Greater Kashmir that they were satisfied for the moment. ???Till the last soldier leaves then we can believe. It seems that the Chief Minister is going to fulfil the promise made with us,??? he added.
Residents of Bomai staged massive demonstrations and students boycotted schools to demand removal of the camp after its troopers killed two civilians, Muhammad Amin Tantray and Javid Ahmed Dar, in unprovoked firing on February 21. The residents deferred mass migration after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, on March 21, promised shifting of the camp within six or seven days.
