From the comfort of her US apartment Aarti writes and sends Newsweek a perverted personal narrative to hit at Kashmiri Muslims, who, far from the comforts and freedom she enjoys, continue to live and suffer under Indian occupation, surrounded by more than 8 lakh soldiers breathing down their necks, making bunkers of their homes, public hospitals, schools, government buildings, river fronts, chinar trees, in short every available space occupied to the last inch. And then comes this story in Newsweek! And then you expect us to accept and recognize her ???true??? story!
Had it been an Indian media forum, we would have kept quiet because we don???t expect them to listen, or tell, our stories. But since its NEWSWEEK this time that has been used for cheap KP propaganda, we can???t keep quiet and let KPs to spread lies (as they???re doing through their hate-Kashmiri-Muslim websites) But Kashmiris have faith in international media. And we expect international media to be fair, unbiased, unlike Indian media. Truth has a habit of revealing itself when you least expect it. KPs false propaganda will fade away. The world will recognize the truth of Kashmir-- the ugly, the overwhelming reality of Indian occupation (killings, rapes, mass graves, custodial disappearances, and daily humiliations)???if the international media is willing to listen and tell the whole world what Indian state did???and is doing???in Kashmir. Let the truth prevail.

I find it hilarious to see kashmiri muslims lecturing KPs about peace, harmony, and shared heritage, after they, the kashmiris, failed to live in harmony with KPs or with the rest of India. What hypocrisy that kashmiri muslims, who are as communal as anyone in the world, should lecture anyone else about communalism.

Here I would like to add that they have floated websites that spread hate and nothing else. These websites are there only to ensure complete divide between the KPs and Kashmiri Muslims. On the other hand the Indian security forces have got communalized and once these saffronised security people get posted in troubled Kashmir they know that they can shoot at protesting crowds without worrying about the faith of the target/victim or injuring any one from their own co-religionists as Jagmohan has already done the job for them two decades ago. The hatred between the two communities which share common heritage, history, language and many beliefs can be gauged by the response to Arti Singh. Let me tell Arti she has no right to deepen the divide between the two Kashmir communities with her venomous write-ups as she has lost the right the day she married a Punjabi. Let KMs and KPs think of reconciling rather than fighting. Together they can achieve the goal of having the right to live with dignity otherwise both are destined to ruin. Me as a citizen of the land of Mahatma am ashamed of what the security forces did in Kashmir in the so called national interest. Let us have a realization of the pain and trauma suffered by both the communities. Now that Arti Singh has chosen to divorce the Kashmir and is comfortably settled in US she should not do anything that causes hurt to any of the communities in India. To my Kashmiri brethren, both Muslims and Hindus who have been battling it out on the News Week forum, I would suggest them to learn to live in peace. Let them think of having reconciliation and burying the hatchet. Even if we have to live apart we still can live in peace. Let us forget the past and think of having good human relations in future. Our faiths teach us love and compassion. Let us be humane.

It's an opportunistic article meant to highlight Kashmiri Pandit sufferings at a time when the focus is on Mumbai. But I don't expect anything else from our KP brothers. All she does is devote one sentence to the sufferings of the people of Kashmir. The rest is all about her nightmares, as if it was Kashmir's people who were responsible for it.

Not that I am surprised. Kashmiri Muslims and Pakistanis regard the terrorists as freedom fighters. any narrative, any fact, any reality that makes them look like terrorists, that makes it look like they terrorized people in the name of islam, is vociferously opposed. Luckily for them, KPs are such a small group that nobody, not even other Indians, really know or care about them, so the story of the terrorisation of the KPs is largely an unknown one. Unfortunately for them, their cause is viewed by the world as part of the global problem the world has with islamic fundamentalism.

Kashmiris will not get what they want. THeir political disenfranchisement prior to 1989 was not unique to them. it was part of national phenomenon in India, where the major national parties at the center, primarily the COngress (I), sought to subvert regional political forces to maintain a strong command of the entire country from the center. THis was bad for india and there were many reactions against this. Most died out and regional parties have emerged as major players in national politics, and the former giant, the Congress (I) is no longer able to command national majorities.

Kashmiris, unwilling to participate in this evolution with the rest of India, took up guns against the state. Having declared war on India, they now complain about the price of war. THey can stop the war anytime and the violence would stop. but they refuse to back down, pakistan and its official and unofficial terrorism machine refuses to let the kashmiris back down, and they all sit around demanding that its INdia who should back down.

Well, India won't back down. Let those who started the war conclude it to their advantage if they can. And if they can't win, let them face the humiliation of defeat.

Sorry to bust your bubble, India has been in a state of conquest from the JIHADIS since the start of Islam. I have taken the risk which no one in Bollywood has taken by bringing stars of the caliber of Sunjay Dutt and Bipasha Basu to Kashmir in making a film on the lives of Kashmiri's. This film will be seen worldwide and the situation in Kashmir will be realistically portrayed to the audience around the globe. My objective of this film is to show Kashmir like no Bollywood film has ever shown before. I may be hated in India for this, but the reality and the pain of Kashmir has to be shown. I have been told by people here that most Indian films on Kashmir are fakes. And after researching for two years; visiting villages and cities, meeting people from all walks of life from Srinagar to Uri, Tangdar to Drass, I have come to believe that every film on Kashmir made by Bollywood is indeed fake. And I want to break this tradition. If I had to make another fake film why would I convince my stars and unit to come here? I could have shot in Manali but Manali is not Kashmir and people from anywhere in the world don't share the pain of Kashmiri's. There are scenes in my film where I show, half widows asking the forces questions, "Where are our husbands that you took away for normal interrogations seventeen years ago?" I also have scenes in my film where a common Kashmiri is harassed everyday by forces by asking them to prove their identity.

I have lines in my film where -people are asking the Indian media, (Aishwarya Rai ko chand dikha ki nahin, breaking news hai; lekin idhar satra saal se auraton ne apne mardo ko nahin dekha.. woh aap hindustanio ke liye koi news nahi). I am going to ask this question to my audience - who is accountable? When in a crackdown innocent Kashmiri girls are picked up and raped and no one does anything about it. Indians have been made to believe that a Kashmiri is a militant. You know it and I know it, that this is absolutely false, incorrect and ridiculous and I want to tell this to the public that the Kashmiri/s are one of the most sensitively emotional and fine human beings who have been cheated year after year by various governments. If I were a Kashmiri today I would not trust anyone from India to make a pro-Kashmir film so I understand your sentiments and emotions when you want to know what I am portraying. Let me tell you that all three characters in 'my film Sanjay Dutt Bipasha Basu and Kanat Kapoor love Kashmir and want it to be Jannat forever. All protagonists are pro-Kashmir in my film.
