    GAYS HAVE BEEN IN THE MILITARY FOR CENTURIES FIGHTING AND DYING FOR THIS COUNTRY, WHEN IN THE FORFRONT OF HOSTILE TERRITORY WERE NOT THINKING OF PEOPLES SEXUAL PREFERENCES. WHERE THINKING LET ME AND MY FELLOW TEAM MEMBERS SURVIVE, IF IF BY CHANCE IM INJURED PLEASE LET THIS OFFICER NEXT TO ME ASSIST SO THAT I DONT DIE . NEVER ONCE DO WE THINK ARE THEY STRIGHT ENOUGH TO HELP ME SURVIVE. PLEASE GROW UP. i HAVE ALOT OF GAY FRIENS THAT ARE PROFESSIONAL & NEVER ONCE HAVE THEY BEEN DISRESPECFUL THEY SIMPLY WANT TO BE TREATED AS EQUAL CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY.

    The UCMJ still has laws against oral sex even if given by a service members wife. This is another example of special interest groups lobbying into law when there are much dumber laws that are on the books. While I was in, we were shown a pie chart of the military spending, #1 the war, #2 sexual assault prevention. No kidding. Adding more "Sexual Groups" will only waste more spending and make for more BS breifings. It is not that I think it should be illegal to be gay, I just think our military should be as BS free as possible. Their job is not public relations, it is to blow things up and kill people. Anything that takes away from that mission should be cut, period.

    No queers and gays should not even be allowed in the military. Then we put an end to this unbelievable behavior. This behavior goes against all the natural laws of man.

      And pray tell what are "The Natural Laws of Man"? Something you read in an old book written by an old male chauvinistic pig of a man named Abraham, where he claims that his god made 2 humans by the name of Adam and Eve? As far as I know science has proven that the earth has existed for millions of years and Kenyapithecus. Its fossils have been found in Africa, and are ~16 million years old, indicating it lived 16 million years ago! Over time (millions of years!), subgroups of Kenyapithecus became sufficiently different that they could no longer interbreed (different species). One of these subgroups led to the line Homo - our direct descendants. Members of the Homo line include Homo habilis which lived ~2.5 million years ago, and Homo erectus which lived ~ 1.8 million years ago. The first humans ( Homo sapiens neanderthalis) are believed to have evolved from Homo erectus approximately 500,000 years ago. And of course Homo sexuals which have lived since the dawn of time. Now what is the true nature of man?

    why would you let some man fight next to you if he acts like a little girl who. Who Can't even change a tire. Even if they are gay, why can't they leave the military alone. Just cause they have their hands in everything else. Doesn't mean they have are able to with stand basic training. The only way thay are able to handle boot camp is to chnge boot camp and make a day care!!!!!!!! You will have a whole new boot camp. A camp that is for a special person. We would have a new military, one that isn't able to fight and withstand the duration of a war or thr roughness of roughing it.

    The services do not have the money or time to organize around those that demand that all must know what turns them on. Any American can serve now as it is as long as they do not put themselves first.

      You prove there have always been homosexuals in the military!!!!! And it homosexual not GAY. The word GAY was invented to put a palitable taste on what is actualy homosexuality -- and that's so distasteful that not one want to use the real term because everyone knows it's sick.

    It was not about feeling oppressed under DADT - it was more about my career could still be ended by someone else telling the military I was gay. DADT works for an individual - but my career could have been ended by anyone who knew I was gay. I had no need to tell anyone, but I did not want to have my career ended by someone else "telling" out of spite, or ignorance. Does that make sense?

    If openly gay individuals are allowed in than how much more sensitivity training will be required? I know for a fact that there is countless hours of training spent in equal opprotunity right now. When certian promotions and awards and handed out is there going to be pressure to make sure a homosexual is getting one so that the appearance of equal treatment is displayed? I don't think homosexuality should be grounds for discharge from the military ( on a side note it is sometimes used for people to get out without getting a bad discharge by heterosexual people) but it should not be celebrated either. How will marriage and dependent issues be taken care of as well? Young military memebers already practice marriages of convienience for monitary gain by both individuals if same sex marriage is allowed this would further allow the abuse. I don't really care if anyone I work with is homosexual or heterosexual as long as the mission is accomplished I am happy. Just because you are homosexual doesn't give you a special privilage just as being heterosexual does not either.

    No they should not be able to serve openly. They have to serve with other men/women whom are not gay and who may be uncomfortable sharing quarters with someone who is. What you do in your bedroom-your sexual life should be kept private as it has been. No one needs to know who is gay or straight. It's nobody's business.

    Personally I think they should be able to serve openly, but unfortuantly, in this society, I would say no. There are too many redneck homophobs to allow such action to peacefully exsist. You can't change everybody and forcing change on those that do not want to change is only going to create hostility and resentment, maybe even dangerous situations. Although most do not mind, its the idiots that do that will cause problems. Its just one of those things you just gotta keep to yourself for now.

      the Bible is also against people that shave or cut their hair, eat shellfish, and are left handed. i guess we should keep them out of the military as well due to their "sins"

    GAYS/FAGS are NOT normal... JUST SAY NO! I wouldn't want a Gay eyeing me up in my bunk, shower or anywhere else- if I were forced to quarter/serve our nation with him! Saying Gay is normal is like asying that Bipolars are normal and should be left untreated... If God wanted homosexuality, don't you think he would have designed us physiologically to be asexual? Ahhh.. NO! that's why procreation and propagation of the species is only between a MAN and a WOMAN!

    If you are going to quote the Bible, and Lev specifically, then quote all of it. Kids who talk back to their parents must die, anyone who eats xxxx must be killed by xxxxx.....and so on. It should be called Ludicrus instead of Leviticus. Come out of the dark ages.

    Why ask???? Separation of males from females is only necessary if discipline is lax. Same with gays, straights, and bi-sexuals. If a soldier comes on to another too strong, it is harassment and should be reported. Same as in the civilian world - if it's your boss, there's a problem but at least in the military there's protocol. Sexual preferences should be as private as the two people involved. Consenting! adults!

    My father was a Deacon in the Catholic Church and a Marine (two tours Vietnam) before he passed and he had a very different view of Don't Ask Don't Tell. He said said that he served alongside many homosexual (gay and lesbian) people and they were his brothers and sisters in the military. People gay or straight need to treat each other professionally and with respect. When that doesn't happen then that is an issue that needs to be dealt with aside from people's sexual orientation. It is in our nature to always have something or someone to fear. As Americans gay or straight we do not need to live in fear of each other.

    I work for a Sheriffs department. The other day I was in training watching a video of gang members joining the military to get combat training so they know how to fight against us better in the streets. In this video it shows a gang member using his combat techniques gunning down an Officer. I think I would be a little more concerned with that than worrying about who is sleeping with who.
