    Dusty:
Being gay is rather complicated....all sexuality is a choice in the short term. It is never in the long term, you have to follow your nature in the long term. I could 'choose' to sleep with a woman tonight, but not for the rest of my life. Not taking a breath right now is a choice....not taking one again is not a choice. People make this mistake all the time, they think if you can make a choice this moment, you can forever and it just doesn't work that way. A person over the course of their life has to be true to themselves, they can't keep up the false front forever......that's why so many men leave their wifes after a rew years, they can't keep up the charade forever.
When you say it's a choice you are right in the short term, but never in the long term.

A few years ago, they did find the same abnormalities in the brains of 100% of all males tested and the exact opposite of the abnormalities in about 80% of the females tested who purported to be homosexuals. Since that time, It's been proven not to be a choice. At first, the gay/lesbian communites were happy and enthused about this proof. Then, when it was pointed out to them that these tests really defined them as mentally retarded, they backed away from their glee and researchers stopped looking for a way to remedy the situation.

They have isolated candidate genes. Just because they haven't confirmed it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Besides, let's pretend for the sake of argument it is a choice. So what? If I want to live my life with a man I harm no one. However, if you can say 'my wife' in the military and that's OK, but if I say 'my partner' and am discharged, that is unequal, unfair, and should be illegal. If you care about the fabric of society so much, do something about Divorce. Pass some laws against the family destruction that causes...I suspect you are too busy being a hypocrite to do that though.

You better bet being gay is a choice! I am straight... and this is by choice! I wouldn't have a problem being with another woman. (infact, I have had several offers) Although, I believe it is morally wrong therefore I CHOOSE NOT TOO. I don't consider myself a lesbian or bi-sexual. I am happy being me! I dont hate gays/lesbians. I am just sick of being expected to except them or be judged because I don't!

Yes! If homosexuals are good enough for the state department then why not the militiary? Let's just say that there is a higher intelligence living on a nearby planet and look ing down on us from above and thinking.."what a bunch of backward people are these?" We are so tied up in greed and self-procliamed righteiousness we don't see how narrow-minded and ignorant a society we are. Let us know and let us realize that we are "all" children of a higher power" We are all "created equal!" . Really, will we ever grow up?

    GHoldynchyld:

Sorry I missed your post earlier. Thank you for your comment. I understand your point of view on the higher command deciding that you are unfit because you are gay and targeting you. However, I must ask this: Would they have any reason other than the fact that you are gay? How do they find out under the current regulation? Maybe a solution to this would be to change the current regulation to provide more legal protection for those 'accused' of homosexual practices, stating that they must also be found guilty of other misconduct before being discharged. This would prevent the discharge of a quality Soldier for simply being gay, but would also continue to discourage those who the current regulation does from exhibiting 'flamboyant' behavior which would be detrimental to unit cohesion and military bearing. I feel that this would keep leaders from imposing their personal values on the service in general, dispite job performance. What are your thoughts there?

    Godoloower:
Are atheists Americans? Does someone who doesn't believe in God have the right to live his life differently than you? I understand your argument about their eternal soul, or what will happen in the afterlife. Those are obviously heartfelt beliefs. Can someone else have their own heartfelt beliefs different from you? Should your belief be the law of the land for the many Muslims, atheists, agnostics, et al that live in the United States?

Kenang/Gay is a choice you just can't admit it. I know several people, one of whom was my best friends father, who was happily married for over 35 years but got in with the wrong crowd (your crowd) and they convinced him that sleeping with another man was "okay" and "fun". He divorced his wife and "discovered" he was gay. Needless to say it crushed their family and my friend hasn't spoken to his father since. The Gay lifestyle isn't about the color of someone's eyes or their skin, it is a behavior, a choice, a fad, a way of life and a lifestyle that in my opinion is completely destructive and counterintuitive to science and religion. There is no proof that a gene made you gay but there is monumental proof when it comes to the genes that control your eye color or the color of your skin. Stop grasping at straws and get over the fact that society doesn't have to and shouldn't accept a lifestyle it doesn't agree with.

Why do people think by pointing out "its 2009" or what ever year it is that Gods Laws of nature has changed or were like on Star trek or something. Nothing has changed, sin is still sin, men are men & women are women. The good in humanity will always be the good. Who cares what year it is less your a follower of other men!

    • Posted By: YinYangEQ @ 01/08/2009 3:33:38 PM

As quick as you are at accusing others of being "followers of men", you are forgetting that men wrote the Book that you are so fond of preaching to the rest of us. Again, I say...Religion has no place in this discussion.

      • Posted By: bdick @ 01/08/2009 3:50:02 PM

You say religion has no place in the military, I say it does and I would love to be in the days when I would have been able to slap that truth into you. So far it still says in GOD we trust on the U. S. $. Why don't you take up a march against that or are you planning too after you suck enough blood out our young Americans!

        • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 01/08/2009 6:32:46 PM

Tell me when "in god we trust" was put on our money and why? And by the way, if you are talking about what you would do to others as far as slapping, etc. , you could end up on your face eating dirt you freak...

I would welcome those days as well. You would truly have the fear of "god" put into you...

Religion does have a place in everyday life, but does not dictate. It is a persoanl thing, and it will be driven to be kept that way, This country is nto a Christain nation, it is a free nation.

"You say religion has no place in the military, I say it does"

Care to point that out in the UCMJ, Sparky?

        • Posted By: YinYangEQ @ 01/08/2009 3:59:30 PM

First of all, I have done my 20 years in the military. As such, I have the uttmost respect for those who continue to serve so do not question my loyalty to the young troops you have mentioned. Unless you have served some time fighting for the rights and freedoms of this country, you don't have the right

Second, unless we are talking about allowing religion in the military, RELIGION DOES NOT HAVE A PLACE IN THIS DISCUSSION. Want to discuss that? Find another forum.

You should probably take your act door to door, instead of sucking up bandwidth preaching the word of your hate cult here.

      Just saying.

You have taken the side then gone against anyone who was unfortunate to come across your tangled web. Like your vote could ever be anything but cast out!

        • Posted By: Horrible Bastard @ 01/08/2009 4:23:00 PM

As an Englishman, I have no vote in your nation, period.

But what's really funny is that you have no say in this issue either. Doesn't that just piss you off?

      • Posted By: larapture @ 01/08/2009 4:18:17 PM

Whether you like it or not this is about religion and politics that's what it (life) has always been about. Don't you know that's why Jesus was killed because He would not conform to the religious leaders in his time. If you call us haters then you call Jesus a hater. Even though we don't want to know Him or talk about Him and some even hate Him, now here is LOVE;, yet He still died for our sins. The Scriptures is where Christians get their moral compass (for life). Where do you get yours? We follow His Word (The Bible), read it sometimes.

Too bad it isn't equal conduct towards others backing up those demands for equal rights. Get a pledge from the gay leaders that sexual harassment is a crime first. No. The gay activists don't believe that. No way.

"Too bad it isn't equal conduct towards others backing up those demands for equal rights. Get a pledge from the gay leaders that sexual harassment is a crime first. No. The gay activists don't believe that. No way."

Actually they do belive it . They have no problem with sexual harrassment being a crime. You seem to be assuming that gays will harrass people more than straights will. That is not a valid assertion. ANYONE who commits sexual harassment should be punished. Or have you forgotten TailHook which was Straight men harassing women.

disappointed- To your suggestion about seeking professional help, I say let he who is without sin cast the first stone...in other words, maybe you should take a moment to evaluate yourself instead of passing such sweeping judgements on your fellow men and women. (I think Jesus may have mentioned something to that effect once or twice) If evolution and science don't have ANY explanations in regards to homosexuality, then I wonder why two male penguins will partner up and be exclusive with each other....i guess we'll never know. Seek help would ya?

Again godfollower I will ask you again do you follow leviticus as closely as the rest of the bible and if not then you are a sinner too and will go to hell...in the bible the only unforgivable sin is Blasphamy so good luck on you trip to heaven

    • Posted By: Godfollower @ 01/08/2009 4:40:04 PM

Maybe you should realize what your saying in how God feels about these immoral sins..... Maybe you should understand God and read the whole bible before saying anything. i am saved...to be saved and to live for God...and repent of the wrongful nature of sin.. and keep in growing with God.

Disappointed: Sexualtiy/Gay is a choice? That means that becoming straight is a choice. When did you decide to become straight? Was is October 10th, 1976 at 10:00pm? How about 10:15? You don't know the first thing about what you're talking about. Blue eyes, black skin, gay, brown hair, muscular dystrophy......all aren't choices.

  • Posted By: elCidSS11 @ 01/08/2009 4:32:21 PM

PS..for the gays reading. IT IS A CHOICE! Just like alcoholism...you can choose to participate or not. Right and wrong.

It's not OK to marginalize people, and pass laws against them because they are different than you. We've done that with blacks and with women. The establishment screams at the top of their lungs that all civilization will come crumbling down if it is changed. Eventually, the old hateful ways are overturned, and we are all better off as a result.

Someone please note that Bill Clinton promised gays in the military and not to raise taxes. Yet when he conducted his first tax raise not 100 days in office they made the announcement of gays in the military to distract the attention of the public. It worked and here again we are driving home issues that are really controversial.

As I wrote earlier I am retired after my 20 years of active duty and having seen friends die in combat and training with both homosexuals and heterosexuals. I do not believe that being homosexual is a civil rights issue (Have they found the famous HOMO gene????????) I do not care what you do in bed as long as it is with a consenting adult. That goes as well for the heterosexuals. As a Christian I feel that it is incorrect but also who am I to judge another and that includes the famous braggarts and their long stories that never occurred.

I want to know what is truly behind this issue or did our newly elected president pull this one from the Bill Clinton playbook and will throw us a curve ball while we are not looking

    • Posted By: BVarg89147 @ 01/08/2009 6:18:52 PM

Some of what you said was pretty reasonabe. Science has long said that the belief is that being gay is genetic but even if it isn't if it's two consenting adults, I still don't see the problem. The issue at hand is whether a straight man and a gay man are capable of a level of maturity to do their job without this being a problem, and I tend to think yes. I work with straight people every day in NON life threatening issues and we have no problems. I can't imagine that in war you wouldn't want someone next to you who is professional in his duty and honorable in his character whether he/she be gay or not.

My shower/ accomodations comment was a fundamental logistics comment related to trying to accomodate the variiety of preferences and sensitivities- You know a "nuts and bolts" comment, not a nuts and butts comment Stay focused on the origional issue. The entire issue of gay bedroom practices and preferences spilling over into my life as some sort of special problem of mine perplexes me. I don't care what you do with eachother, gay or not - keep it to yourself. The next thing you know the folks with special relationships with animals, the dead, etc will want their preferences on top. Sometimes salty issues need direct comment. I intend no offence here but if you are going to run with the big dogs, you gota stop peeing like a puppy.
