The Case for Walking Away

Karate is expensive...about 100/month per kid (I have studied for 33 years)???.but you have got to be off your bloody rocker to spend that kind of money on your kids if you are in financial trouble.

One problem I see with our country is that parents think they owe their kids a lifestyle: they have to live within your financial capability: they can???t have everything they want and disappointment helps them mature

I have a relative who is financially strapped and is still spending $25,000 per year to send her son to a private college! What an idiot! There are much more cost effective alternatives: Community college and state schools, ROTC and military service. The child has time on his side, the parent should be saving for her future,

I am expecting to hear a financial ???cry for help??? from my financially foolish relative fairly soon and I will not help them: they dug this hole for themselves.

No democrats are NOT dumb - that is why we wanted a change! Do you have young kids growing up? You may want to vote Democrat next 4 years and plan for thier education. Barack has some sense which he is using and trying ti help America - go figure! Time for a CHANGE, AND A CHANGE HAD TO AND MUST COME to America - He will not fit it overnight - this country of to messed up - Democrats need at least 2 terms to fix it and then give it back to Republicans to smash it again - Use your senses to think further than your nose and try to see what lies ahead - not only live for today.

To MMMMMAAARRRRRYyyyy - tell your kids to stop taking Karate already. Why on earth would you need that sort of thing if you are even remotely financially strapped. Buy them a bike and tell them to train for the Tour de France...at least that's a one-time expense and riding around isn't that much cost except occasional maintenance. Then they don't have to watch cable TV and get some great exercise that most kids don't come close to getting. Better chance of becoming Lance Armstrong than Ralph Macchio's protoge for a lot less dough. Take your savings and buy a nice dinner instead of soup. Why the hell does anyone need karate lessons if they can't pay the bills. Get your priorities straight....Karate may be fun, but is hardly necessary.

If I were to get in real financial trouble due to a job loss, I would not dip into my retirement accounts and I have no problem what so ever with the banks and CC companies absorbing debt as their loss when people lose their jobs. Heck the backs and brokerage firms caused many of the problem that are now plaguing us: it is only right their should bear the cost

Crdit cards are insidious. Has any of you considered the predatory practices of the Capital 1's and the Citibanks and the Chases out there? They send out credit apps every day offering interest-free money for extended periods, and they send these offers to people they know are already buried in debt so they can charge them astronomical interest rates and get on their payroll forever. Before long they are getting very fat entirely on your money, because their principal is quickly recovered from their interest rate profits, and from then on they collect the gravy forever. Pity the poor credit card lenders, yessirree. They'll bleed you forever and still right off your debt anyway when you die.

NC lost almost all furniture and textile jobs within 5 years. Don't tell me about BK, I owned a furniture plant.
