    establish Israel's right to exist
    establish Palestine's right to exist
    and have one central voice from each side to hammer out concessions to make it work
    both sides have to give in or this feckin mess will go on until someone drops the big heater

    If a terrorist group based in Mexico started firing rockets into New Mexico, Arizona and Southern California, do you honestly think the people of the United States would say oh dear, the poor innocent Mexicans, let's do nothing and sit by, it's not their fault - they want peace (wink wink - they just don't want to do anything to try to kick out the terrorists). It would be exactly the same call we saw after 9-11 - kill them all! Go bomb the crap out of that country! So who the heck are we to stand in judgment and wag our fingers at Israel for defending itself??? Please, if the situation was on us, we would do the EXACT same thing as Israel and defend ourselves. And after we bombed them back, if they continued to bomb us, you better believe we'd begin a ground offensive - any American who says otherwise is LYING. Terrorists are everywhere, just because they are targeting Israel in this instance and not us (the United States) does not give us the right to criticize Israel's right to defend itself.

    ok ok Everybody look around the world! the Arab world is corrupt! Everywhere, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and even in peacefull countries: Denmark, France, U.S.A., U.K., all have suffered from the corruption of the arab muslim world. They don't know the word peace...They don't preach it to their children..They dont have it in their own countries...All they know is violence! This includes violence amongst themselves and violence against anyone else they choose! Why? Why? is Hamas hiding behind civilians in Gaza? I guess for the same reason they send their children off as walking time bombs. and the world wants to know why there are so many civilian deaths! This is part of their plan, this is what they want and exactly how they want it to happen. If not why do they hide in mosques? Why do they keep their military ammunition stored in public housing developments? Why do their so called "leaders" hide in bunkers under hospitals!?! They cheapen their own lives! NOT ALL ARABS ARE TERRORISTS! However they are suffering from acts of groups such as Hamas, Taliban, Hezbollah etc. If Hamas really cared about their citizens they would broker a deal and stop shooting rockets, however they themselves dont even know what they're fighting for! There is a peaceful road to peace in the Middle East but that road must accommodate two cars, side by side, not just one. So long as there is terrorism Peace cannot and will not be reached. Let us hope the hamas terrorists are destroyed!

    There will never be peace while Hamas exists, just like there was never going to be peace while the Nazis existed in Germany While they sit silently or privately hold bigoted beliefs against Jews, then Hama and other extremists will continue to thrive; moderate Arab's silence is as complicit as the moderate German's silence during World War II. Until the Arab community rises up against the extremists that seem to have a strangehold on their society, then the conflict will continue. Hama, Hezbollah, Al Quaida, and the Taliban will continue to terrorize until the muslim population in those countries overwhelmingly start to recognize other people of other cultures deserve to live in peace. They can start by changing the school books in their education system which preach hate for Israel and others who don't agree with them. The Saudi education system is no better than what our education system in the South was during segregation; the hate keeps being perpetuated in the youth and those deep-seated prejudices stay in place until they are challenged and changed....and then it takes a whole generation to pass while the hate-mongers die off from natural causes...

    Alas the tribe of Ismael, condemned in the bible so that the tribe of Isaac would rule supreme, and Abraham being claimed as the father of both tribes, had a hand in ensuring the dominance of Isaac over his other son Ismael. Biblical story's talk of when the tribe of Ismael succorred an exiled prince of Egypt, who later would be known as the emancipator of his people, Moses. History showed that until the 4th century, the tribe of Ismael followed the tenets of the jewish faith, then of-course along came another prophet named mohammed, who with I believe 8 other followers started a religious pogom, that still has to this day not abated, almost 1700 years later. Most see this as a religious conflict to be settled by the players involved, even as the entire world seems to be lined up, on the issue, for or against one or the other.
    What I find so fascinating over the religious tone of the conflict, is that both sides preach of an end of world apocalypse, in their respective holy books of gods message and word. Religion in itself is a personal experience, but when a group imposes this sort of view on the world, it becomes dangerous. This country alone, is undergoing a religious fervor, which by itself would be a good thing, if it weren't for the zealots trying to impose their will on those who don't necessarily have the same point of view. Like the man said, you have nothing but war when it comes to religious intolerance, I agree with one guy when he say's, the palestinians deserve freedom also, however, in my minds eye, it doesn't give them the right to move into a territory and start bombing their neighbors. This conflict started at the dawn of biblical history, and anyone who thinks it can be resolved in a few years is either a fool, or just playing a game of poker.
    The real issue for our western civilization, do we allow this to dominate the foreign interaction of the rest of the world,creating war, or do we finally become mature enough to say, okay children, have at it, but don't involve us anymore!!!!!
    These are becoming more and more explosive times for all of us, because now we have a collective set of willls, coming out of the tribe of Ismael, who are bound and determined to destroy our civilization.
    Its easy to criticise one or the other, but if you are sitting at the front of the firing line, with bullets flying around, your going to fight to survive, as are the Israellies doing. I have sympathy for the Palestinians, not to see them killed, but I feel that way for the Israelies also.
    Where will this end? I personally believe, we as a civilization are standing a stones throw, from the full scale start of WWIII.........................

      WOW. Talk about revisionit history! Now Moses is actually an arab (and by extension a Muslim) when he existed about 2000 years before the creation of Islam and the Arabs getting out of the Saudi Arabia to conquer the whole region. My, my, lets just write a whole new bible and history.

    Both sides won't cave in. And Israel? Now really. They assasinated one of their own president for brokering for peace. And for many in the Middle East,will never accept the State of Israel. Palestine would never really trust the US because they have always favored Israel from the beginning. And by now a lot of Palestinian people are mad because Israel has killed at least a 100 times more people than them. The people of Israel are surrounded by people who won't accept their country. I think you would have to be paranoid living there. And I don't think Israel likes to be intimidated. I think only God or Allah can fix this problem.

    In 1946 eighty percent of Palestine was given to Moslem Palestinians for a homeland. Today that state is called Jordan. Why do the Palestinians need a second country when , if they want self determination, they could easily move to a country they already control?

    In its section on refugees, this article does not address the 600,000+ Jews who in 1948 were forced from their homes and livelihoods in Syria, Iraq, Egypt and other Arab countries. More than sixty years ago, the newly independent state of Israel absorbed all of these Jewish refugees. What of their "right of return" and compensation for their suffering?

    Why have the Arab "host" countries chosen to force the Arab refugees to stay in refugee camps for so many decades?

      Those 600,000 were Jews fleeing Europe before, during and after WWII.

      Although forced to leave other places during the course of history, Jews WERE not forced fom Arab lands.

    When will you liberal hacks and terrorist apologists at Newsweek realize that Hamas and Hezbollah do not want peace, they want Israel destroyed. Hamas clearly states this in their charter. There is a road to peace in the Middle East, when Hamas and Hezbollah are defeated militarily.

      It's an unfortunate world that we live in where from time to time throughout history there's no other answer than war. But unfortunately, that's the only diplomacy some people understand. I read an article that said that Hamas was intentionally timing their rocket barages at the start and end of the Israeli school day. It's hard to negotiate with people that think it's okay to blow up kids to make a point, regardless of what religion they are.

      Would u like us to fight them with the same level of technology they use? The same level of morality? In that case we should give our CIVILIANS Grad like missiles that they should attack Gaza with indiscriminantly every time the palastinians attack them. We could also do the same as they do - plant bombs in their markets, crowded streets, busses and such. How many 10's of thousands of innocent people will be killed then? What? It doesn't seem so moral all of a sudden, does it? But then that would be "fair", that would be "proportionate".

      You are talking about us being the strong ones armed with Hi tech, look at the strongest, biggest army in teh world - your army! How is it fairing in Afganustan and Iraq after 5 years of fighting? Not so well, does it ? And that regardless of whether the war is justified or not. Also, the American army isn't even fighting "live" on TV as we do and not on it's borders.

    I do agree with you on this citizenship situation. In 1967 the Supreme Court declared a law unconstitutional that prohibited dual citizenship. For almost 200 years the US did just fine with people who were citizens of only the US. Things have went down hill since then. There are an estimated 42 million people with dual citizenship in the US, 500,000 of which are Jews.

    I say give them a choice renounce their foreign citizenship or go home.

    There were two other govt actions in the 1960s that created 2 massive problems of today.
    1. The Immigration Reform Act of 1966, which unofficially began the invasion of illegal aliens. Today's estimate of 30 million illegals.
    2. The Finance Reform Act that allowed the govt to get their hands on the Social Security & Medicare Accounts, which is why they are near bankrupt today.
