When will people realize that talks with terrorists is a waste of breath. I believe like the last time this has happened that Israel is in the right! Why should they keep being barraged with violence to make everyone else happy. You don't see Israel sending their CHILDREN off to kill innocent people! I say the people of Gaza are not innocent. They have terrorists living and plotting their next attact right next to them and you're going to tell me they know nothing? I don't believe in violence for violence but I don't think that Israel should be the only responsible party! Get your heads out of your @$$es and look at the real truth. That Hamas is a Terrorist organization and needs to be dismantled and I'm glad Israel is standing up for their people. That's what their country is suppposed to do for them.

How could you say Hamas is terrorist in their own country and won the Palestine democratic election? The same title should goes to Israel. Please be fair.

I am happy to read in the Guardian that the Obama administration intends to engage Hamas in talks designed to curb the violence in Gaza. Maybe when he learns how the murderous conduct of the Zionists is designed to massacre the Palestinians - men, women and children, he will take a more forceful posture in dealing with these vermin. It is time for the US to take a second look at this so-called "special relationship." The Jews have been taking advantage of the Palestinians ever since it was "created." They have stolen land, established illegal settlements, humiliated the Palestinians by requiring them to stand in the sweltering sun and/or freezing rain for hours on end just to get to work. It has built and Apartheid Wall, blockaded the sea ways and they have done everything possible to make life miserable for the Palestinians. These money-grubbing *** have one ultimate purpose: to steal all the land of the Palestinians. Nothing else will satisfy their insatiable greed. Israel is a mistake that will continue to perpetuate itself until it is finally blown off the face of the earth. It has to be kept in mind that the only reason Israel was established in the first place is that no civilised nation on the face of the earth wanted these people within their own borders. One occasionally wistfully muses on how peaceful the world would be without this Jew-infested so-called nation.

Why Hisbollah is so quiet now, while Israel keep destroying Hamas? They understand that this time Israelis will not restrict themselves and respond with carpet-bombing, destroyung everything in Sough Lebanon and killing thousands in few days. Whatever "victory'" Hizbollah clamed, thay got their lesson how much damage Israelis could inflict rvn when they tried to fight humanly and used only 1/100 of their firepower.

    ISRAEL ZION-NAZI???S
BOMBING GAZA CHILDREN & CIVILIANS WITH F-16???s & CLUSTER BOMBS, DEPLETED URANIUM AND WHITE PHOSPHORUS

???Israel has planned this Gaza invasion 8-9Months??? - head of the Knesset Defense Readiness and Fighting Terrorism Committee

Israel is also using psychological warfare- calling Palestinian citizens all times of the day and night with urgent messages to Palestian people that Hamas has abandoned them and to give up, their homes will be bombed and dropping millions of flyers, inviting Palestinians to call or email the Israeli army to collaborate with them.

Israel trying to blackmail desperately sick by withholding access to medical care unless they collaborate.

Israel bombing children & civilians and wiping out entire families with F???16???s, cluster bombs and using DEPLETED URANIUM & WHITE PHOSPHORUS.

JEWS are killing and murderers like the new NAZI???S with sick attacks on Palestinians and Gaza under the guise of ???retaliating??? against launched rockets. The Jews are always complaining and squawking about how they were treated in the Holocaust and they themselves are the same ZION-NAZI???S.

Of course,, you're full of Shat. If Hamas leaders would stop firing rockets into Israel, there would be peace. What is your answer to the Hamas charter that states it wants to destroy Israel? What would you like for the Israelis to do,. lay down and die simple because a handful of assho!e terrorists want them to?

Are you so stupid to think they're going to do that?

  • Posted By: jimbo3800 @ 01/03/2009 10:21:21 PM

There will never be peace in the Middle East without military victory. Go Isreal, and do what must be done to achieve total victory over Hamas and all other terrorists.

    • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 01/04/2009 5:10:47 PM

No, Jim. Israel should be the bigger man, or woman, and give the Palestinians the land. This would hopefully end this conflict.

Amazing how the Israeli's get hit first and they're terrorists for responding. Those darn pesky Jews and their small speck on the map out of all those Muslim countries. Nobody says a god damned thing when these suicide bobmers take out innocent Jews but all you *** cry when Israel defends itself.. You and the "people of peace" are the new Nazis

The protracted sixty-year struggle involving the Israelis and Palestinians as the "aggrieved" parties, cannot continue. Daniel Klaidman's assertion of facts, his cogent assessment of the current situation, and his proposed resolution, taken together, is the most astute, fair and balanced paradigm currently proposed. If the powers-that-be cannot secure the agreement, cooperation and support of the Israelis and the Palestinians to accept these guiding principles as the necessary framework for a mediated resolution to their 60-year conflict, then a more draconian approach must be considered to end the cycle of senseless violence and destruction.

SITUATION: This untenable situation was created by international fiat -- a United Nations resolution creating the state of Israel by the partitioning of Palestine, largely a response to ameliorate the horrific suffering of Jewish victims of the Holocaust. However well-intentioned, it did create a historic injustice for the Palestinians summarily evicted from their ancestral homes, land and businesses. The UN resolution was arbitrary, short-sighted, ill-considered, and fundamentally unjust in its implementation. And now, given the depth of the resulting hatred, animosity, and injustices (real and imagined) experienced by both sides, that now sadly is deeply ingrained, the prospects of sufficient concessions by both parties is a pie-dream. Moreover, given Israel's unquestionable military and economic superiority, sustained by unfailing U.S. support, they have little incentive or need to compromise. Since there is no "level playing field," a negotiated EQUITABLE settlement is virtually impossible.

SOLUTION: Since the conflict was created by UN fiat, perhaps an enduring resolution only can achieved by the same means -- a UN fiat imposing a resolution. Given the circumstances, what could be more fair and appropriate? If either party fails to abide by the UN resolution, the UN would NOT impose the provisions of the resolution. However, the rejectionst(s) would be on their own from that point on, to secure their desired outcomes and destiny without the support or protection of any country or inernational body. If the United Nations and involved nations cannot impose a solution, it should not be help hostage to either Israel or Palestinian uncompromising positions.

This whole thing is just a vicious cycle! But as far as the rocketing goes, that is the fault of the Arabs. I just read in the news that rockets are coming into Israel from Lebanon. Is it really necessary for another Arab nation to get involved in this mess? The answer is no. Why make a bad situation worse?

And when in all this mess has Israel been the first to fire rockets into Arab areas? To the best of my knowledge she never has. If the Arab terrorists would end the rocketing, then Israel would have no need to respond. That seems to be the starting point to me. An end to rocketing by the Arabs which must be met by a significant concession from the Jews such as agreeing not to enter any Arab area including Gaza militarily. And so it goes, another concession by the Arabs to be met with a further one from the Jews. The Arabs agree to no return for Palestinians outside Israel and the territories at present except to re-unite families in larger israel. The Jews agree to a very significant withdrawal from the land.

I think the final answer to this problem is really just mathematical. Take all the square miles of Israel and the former occupied territories then multiply by the percentage of Jews to the total population. That gives the square miles of the new Jewish state. The rest belongs to the Palestinians. Then you go to the map and draw a line down the middle wherever it would fall given the percentages. I think the southern part near Eqypt would be safer for the Jews so that part would be their state. The more dangerous area for Jews, the northern part near Lebanon, would be for the Palestinian state. Once the boundary is set, people will know where there future lies, so slowly but surely the populations will shift with help from an international commission.

Hold on there, catfish! I know when the peace will occur. There will be a 7 year truce entered into by Israel and her enemies. 42 MONTHS--count 'em, into that truce, there will be a world leader who will step in and do what he wants with the nation of Israel. It will not be good--Not for Israel and Not for the world! So while the UN and etc. are working frantically to carve off Israel's land again and give it to her enemies, believing concession brings respect and peace (Sure Did with Gaza, RIGHT?) there is another Truth. That is, when the ultimate end of things occurs, there will be one and only One King reigning from Jerusalem, the Messiah that Israel has long awaited. Israel is supposed to be a non-healing wound on the earth at this time in history, until Messiah returns. Then the Lamb that died for the sins of the world will reign in justice, when he will return to a very troubled earth undergoing 'perilous times' and set himself up as King and Ruler in Jerusalem. Since I was a child I knew that Israel would be a trouble magnet at this point in history, and that the aid money we sent Russia would help them grow into a major world player, and as time goes on Russia (older name 'Rosh') will use progressively harsher strongarm tactics. I even knew from the time I was a child (I'm 59) because my father studied it and required I study it, that there would be a European Union at this time in history. Good Grief!!! Read The Book! And if you don't understand it, get with someone scholarly who devotes his life (as my Dad did) to understanding Bible prophecy. WE, human beings, won't be able to bring about permanent peace. Read 'The Book' and get to know its Author and His Son as well. Then you will know the progression of world events till the "Prince of Peace" takes over in Jerusalem. (If you don't understand the old names of some nations and cities and what their new names are today, look them up or talk to a prophecy scholar who can bring you up to date. You can even read what nations will be Israel's enemies at this time...and they are! There's absolutely no reason to be in the dark about this! FACTS, JACK). Read or listen to Grant Jeffrey for a start.

This is a family fued, the children of Ishmael against the children of Isaac anyone who gets in the middle will get burned. The Palistineans are a pawn which have been utilized by the Middle Eastern leaders to creat and foster this situation in essence they have collectively created Hamas and the hundreds of splinter groups. Lets not forget, Hamas is a terrorist group and they have been firing rockets into Isreal. I would expect Israel to defend its citizens.

isreal want to domenate the world . period
this's about domenating the middle east then the world , by killing people , destroying thier homes , cutting off the food the electricity , the water supplies, and practicelly everything that keeps them alive , and the whole world is in this deep silence and just watching this tragedy this crisis in process
and specially the intenational court that has been watching israel destroying , doing illegal things like throwing chemical and nuclear bombs on people , without even thinking about judging isreal !
    this's totally unfair!
they r erasing palestinian people off the world !
and why ? is isreal that powerfull? why ian't anyone standing in thier face , keeping them off gaza strip!
i think that will always be one of the political mysteries

    • Posted By: jazzmanjim @ 01/08/2009 12:37:39 PM

Um, sarahtayeh. Israel DID give back the Gaza strip. Hamas instead of governing it's people then uses this to launch rockes at Israel which forces them to respond.

  • Posted By: n_sidek @ 01/08/2009 5:23:13 AM

Mr Klaidman's proposal makes sense. Israel and Palestine must compromise to settle their difference. We simply cannot go back to Biblical times and must face present realities. But the greatest power on earth , the US, must be an honest broker and be fair to both sides. Clearly it is not practical to go back to 1948 or indeed 1967, but a semblance of even-handedness on the part of the US and the international community will go a long way to get both sides to compromise. Calling both sides terrorist is not helpful. Both side have blood on their hands. Who kills more and who suffers more in this conflict is clear for the world to see. But if the conflict continues more innocents will lose their lives. Hamas, please stop your puny attempts which will not dent the might of Israel. And Israel please do not overreact little inaccurate rockets being hurled at some remote desert in Israel.
Let us flesh out Mr Klaidman's proposal. It may save many innocent lives. Nicholas

    • Posted By: jazzmanjim @ 01/08/2009 12:35:46 PM

Nice talk. The problem is that Hamas (and others) are dedicated to the destruction of Israel. What is to negotiate? Only ½ of Israel gone?

Please be realistic here. Israel has given back much more the the Palestianians. Maybe it's time they look inward and stop blaming others.

You in the West are unwilling or unable to face the simple truth that the radical Muslims declare openly: they want to destroy your way of life, just as you woudn't face Hitler's declaired goals in the years before W.W.2. His way to try to do it and that of the Muslims are remarkably similar: first of all, blame the Jews - or in this case Israel on all that is wrong- and win the sympathies of the open or latent antisemites and make the western world believe ,that that is the only thing they really want, is to destroy Israel. It is not; they want to destroy you, your freedoms, your culture, your churches, and everything that is dear to you and us. Their immediate goal, the destroying of Israel is only means to make some of the free world willing to "compromise" and stand by while they try to do it. The Hamas , like the Hisballah, like Iran they deny the right of Israel to exist. Hamas fired rockets - in the kast days before the war 60 rockets daily - at Israeli cities an civilian population. They had a very simple way to avoid this conflict and suffering of thei citizens: they had only to cease firing ay our cities. They use openly and without shame civilians and preferably children as a shield, because they know, that the soldiers would do nearly everything, to avoid whenever possible to fire on them. Even as they decrie the inhumanity of the "occupation" they rely on the knowlege that there are things Israel won't do. But they are wrong, as are their allies, their supporters and the rest of the world. We didn't forget thr Holocaust and our "mantra" as Klaidman calls it could be surprised. If the existence of Israel is in question ,they could be surprized ,and the Armageddon could really begin here. I mean begin. Azriel

      Thank you.

There are some here in the west who do understand the goals of radical Islam. It is not just Israel but instead the death of Western (Judeo-Christian) thought and belief and to replace this with Sharia.

You need only to read comments left on any discussion site from those far geographically removed to see the fear, hatred and bigotry on both sides. There has never been peace, the question really is what are they who live in the region prepared to do to work through these feelings and achieve peace.
