I would seriously suggest another line of work for the author of the article. Not that I disagree with what the article said, I really don't, but the author totally misses the point. The very reason that Apple pulled out of MacWorld Expo is that what the author is saying - they can not produce revolutionary products on that schedule. Truth be told, they never did produce exclusively on the MacWorld schedule anyway, lots of great Apple products were announced at non-MacWorld events, but now there is so much hype around the MacWorld keynote and people expect such great things, that the only way for Apple to win is to change the game. Sure this one was not great. Big deal, not every Steve Jobs keynote is great either. But Apple still absolutely kicks butt at forging the path to the future and blazing a trail so bright that everyone sees it. They just can't do it on the first full week of January every year, and truth be told they didn't work on that time line at any time in the past, either. No company, including Apple, can live up to the expectation of having a real sea changing product or suite every year on the first week of January, so Apple has done the intelligent decision and pulled out of MacWorld Expo, so they can host their own announcements and events. If this one was boring, so what??? The basic direction of the company is toward the future, and to that end they give 100%, and are the very best at it. That's the real point, not that it was boring (though it was), but that they are being brutally honest with the world and saying that they will continue to produce their products, but on their timeline. If that turns out to be true, this may be the last boring keynote Apple ever gives. Time will tell if that's the case, and I truly hope and believe that Apple will deliver the goods - on their schedule and on their terms. Period.
