The sooner this JERK is gone the better!

Reid is a joke. You would think after painting himself into a corner on Iraq troop withdrawl he would learned something. The position of majority leader must be about substance , not style . he has neither

I'm all about clean government, and Blago's dirty and corrupt hands have tainted this senate appointment. I'm shocked that a felon has the power to appoint US senators!

Let the games begine! Reid was bettered by Blago's strategy here when he left the door wide open for a "face-losing" misstep such as this - especially when he took such a hard stance so early in the game and then played it in the media. I think that if Burris is certified and becomes legally appointed by Illinois, the Senate has to follow through with their own rule book. If Burris obtained this post dishonestly, he'll have to live with it for the rest of his term and probably life and that's his problem. In any case, he is going to struggle with credibility going forward - who is going to take him seriously? Besides, I sincerely doubt that this has never happened before....the difference is the public didn't know about it...Let the games begin!

As much as I believe Burris is a bad appointment, I do think that his is a legal appointment and that he should be sworn in and take the office. Too many of us make the emotional error of mixing up right and wrong with legal and illegal. This is true in polics generally...politics is often immoral, dirty and dispicable. Because these are law makers, they are careful to protect their sleeze from being illegal. Should we want to change that, we will have to get a set of steel ones and get to work...or pass a constitutional amendment to limit terms of office. After all, a new politician cannot steal as efficiently as an experienced one.

The fight over Burris is overblown by a geometric margin...The Gov is innocent , at this moment in tTIME....
The press has convicted Gov Blago in a barrage of innuendo and misrepresentation..He is a sitting Gov and has all the legal perquisites of that office to nominate someone to an empty Senate seat. There is no legal excuse or reason to refuse to seat an innocent, and apparently qualified person....The Senate is a gentlemen's club ? It is perverse and ignominious crew of absolute political schemers.

Reid is no match for Mitch McConnell, so he asserts his authority on an issue where he didn't expect to be challenged. So even Blagojevich outsmarted him. All they have to do is read the Constitution and forget the "Club" rules. Reid is a no-op! Admit Burris immediately.

As a Black man, I am offended by Bobby Rush's insertion of race into this issue. Rush is trying to get a dig in on his former foe, Obama. Blago is the culprit here and they're trying to get Burris in before the impeachment nullifies the whole deal.

Roland Burris has every right to advance his career, he did nothing wrong. I think the fact that he's willing to put himself out there for people to evaluate says he has nothing to hide. He's been a clean politician here in Illinois and has served the people of Illinois to the best of his ability. Jesse White should be ashamed for not signing the papers especially since he claims to be a good friend of Burris and vouches for his intergity.

ROLAND BURRIS TOOK A LEGAL APPOINTMENT FROM A SITTING GOVERNOR ----- BURRIS WAS SMART TO DO IT.

HE WAS RIGHT TO TAKE THE APPOINTMENT, NOW HE MUST TAKE HIS PLACE IN A CORRUPT CONGRESS.

BURRIS WAS APPOINTED TO FILL OBAMA VACANT SENATE SEAT BY A SITTING GOVERNOR NOT TRIED, CONVICTED OR IMPEACHED.

AT THIS POINT BLAGOJEVICH IS ONLY ACCUSED ------- BIG DEAL ? NOT !

    BURRIS HAS DONE NOTHING WRONG.

CONGRESS HAS DONE EVERYTHING WRONG, U.S.ATTORNEY FITZGERALD JUMPED THE GUN AND CONGRESS IMPROPERLY DECIDED TO BE UN-AMERICAN ( MC CARHTYISM LIKE ) AND JUMPED ON THE BAND WAGON ADVOCATING " GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT " ------ WRONG !

U.S. CONSTITUTION WAS IGNORED BY CONGRESSIONAL MEN LACKING INTEGRITY ---- THE GOOD OLD BOYS CLUB.

Burris will be allowed into the senate. The Dems frustration is not about him but Blago. Once Reid gets over his anger with what happened in Chicago (pay for play), Burris will be seated.

I live in Illinois and I respect Roland Burris and his credentials. However, his judgement is lacking when he accepts the senate seat from such a reprobate as Blago. I personally do not want someone else with poor judgement representing my state. In my 46 years on this earth I have never before been so ashamed of my government.
